don’t even know what to say

It’s like we’re royally fucked by a multitude of external factors, piling up year after year, to be denied what’s supposed to be a highly-accessible commodity, this isn’t fair at all.
>>
>>736933815
not op but in fairness tmsc does like 70% of global chip fabrication and they're taiwanese
>>
>>736933629
The craziest thing is that most parts in Data center are literally doing nothing.
A huge chunk of data centers haven't procured their needed power yet.
Thousands upon thousands of cards just collecting dust in the darkness.
>>
>>736933815
>he still thinks he can vote his way out
None of them care, they're de facto aristocracy now, to the point they're grooming their kids to take office after them. Terrible decisions will keep being made until some future generation decides they've got nothing left to lose and everything to gain by employing violence.
>>
yeah, you guys should've bought years ago, but you didn't, so now you're fucked until production capacity catches up to demand. you have my pity
>>
As long as you aren't aiming for 4K, you can definitely make a good 1440p machine under 2k buckaroos, which in my humble 1st worlder opinion isn't all that much for a luxury product that will last you for years. Opting out of DDR5 alone will save you hundreds of dollars as it's completely unnecessary to pay that much more for a slight performance increase you get with DDR5, at least for purely gaming purposes.
>>
>>736934036
They haven't broken ground on building data centers they haven't built infrastructure to power for applications that don't yet exist. When they decide AI's a bust, they'll write the investment off as a loss, governments will bail them out with our tax dollars and then they'll dump their inventory in a landfill, but not before destroying the components so people don't dig them up.

Don't care, I just play old shit and indie games anyway. The last AAA I played was SH:f and it ran like absolute diarrhea and needed 44 GB. Meanwhile I can play something like Alisa and it could run buttery smooth on 15 year old hardware is literally 1/55th the size. Fuck modernity.

AI isn't a bust, though. Like, regardless of whether the singularity shit pops off, i'm not going back to doing my job without it

The increased prices are gay, of course, but it's not like they are prohibitively expensive to anyone living in a first world country and with a median wage.

More than half, of datacenters are expected to be cancelled, with a bunch already delayed, and if anything I predict at least of 80% will be vaporware, so in theory RAM prices should be getting lower by now

Also how the FUCK did drive manufacturers manage to become so shit?
I bought some bottom of the shelf 1TB cheapest drives my teenage ass could afford a long time ago and they worked fucking flawlessly for almost a decade, then i buy a pair of bigger heavy duty drives (Because i began to run out of actual physical space by cramming too many small ones into my pc case) that are meant and advertised to work in constant fuckery, and they both begin to die on me in about 1-2 years after being bought, one from a program error and then a mechanical failure and the other from just a program error with no way to salvage them, all while costing like a fucking fortune.

What the actual FUCK happened in the market? They were WD too, which are supposed to be the top in that regard. Not even something you'd expect to die quickly like a seagate.
How the fuck did we lose the technology to make reliable drives? I cant even make a fucking choice on what to buy anymore because it seems that EVERY manufacturer has become what Seagate was ridiculed for a decade ago when you read the reviews.

>>
>>736941596
>why wouldn't i want it to happen?
Because the cheap gas (30% below market price) coming from Russia can't fuel the European economy anymore, and if our industries crumble, there's a big risk that it will ultimately lead to social strife in most of Europe. That's something you don't want even if you're American, because Russia and China will want to use it to break the American influence over Europe.

>On a whim see MSI Aegis 5080 with Ryzen 9 and 32 Gb of DDR 5 ram and a 2tb ssd for $2k at costco
Oh cool, top of the line processor and graphics card for a little less than the old rig, I have the money so I'll spoil myself.
>Rampocalypse hits and my computer is worth over $3.5k now even though I spent less than the computer I was replacing.
Lol WTF IS REALITY ANYMORE.
The thing is if you are willing to do low end gaming at 720 or 1080 you can still build a cheap PC. SURE, all the brand new slop won't work but it is possible.

What I've always done. I'm a poorfag PC gamer. It's still cheaper than consoles, because I can save through lack of a need for subscriptions for online and I can pirate games or just buy them when they're on sale on steam.

And you know what? I'm tired of pretending being a glorified lithographer is somehow a protected talented skill reserved specifically for island monkey people especially when they import our tools to make them.

>>736943843
That garbage bill was going to put a bunch of book learned union retards in charge of that shit, you processors would be twice what they are now so that union swabbies could have child day care facilities at their fancy rock engraving plant.
>>
>>736945886
it's less of a skill and more that actually creating fabs to rival theirs is very, very, very expensive and time-consuming. it's why the chips act happened, because it was recognized that 70% of global fabrication happening in taiwan wasn't great for security reasons (ie if they get invaded suddenly the entire world sans china has their chip availability slashed by 70%) so it was recognized that putting a large chunk of the national budget into domestic fabs was a good use of money. intel was already most of the remaining 30% and most of the chips act money went to them i think. unfortunately, just throwing money at the problem and requiring them to use it on fabs doesn't necessarily result in more operational fabs in the end for a variety of reasons (incompetence, misappropriation, malice, STILL not enough money, and time are all relevant factors).

You know what would have been a great idea? Having a factory by now without this gay baby union swabbie bill. Literally just telling them to fuck off and stop giving them OUR shit to produce, OUR licenses/technologies to simply reproduce. But no now you have dumb cuck corps and the government arguing over shit WE fucking own. Tell Taiwan they're GOING TO 50/50 this shit or we're GOING TO be the "100" in the "100/00". They would immediately cuck to this because even they know it's true.

Hell it might even be beneficial to them because then China won't want to invade them because they won't be worth a bucket of piss once OUR SHIT is gone.

>just throwing money at the problem and requiring them to use it on fabs doesn't necessarily result in more operational fabs in the end for a variety of reasons (incompetence, misappropriation, malice, STILL not enough money, and time are all relevant factors).
What these faggots are banking on is a change in administration which is why all of their shit keeps getting pushed back to 2030. They're waiting for the next shitter in charge to just okay them to be the next lockheed to waste billions on.
>>
>>736946339
>the only company that makes the lithography machines

...Pays some jew in the US for the privilege, I know. Really that's the only reason this shit is a problem, patent lawyers. And yeah we could make the machine too but nah the jew is making more money having them shell out a royalty.

Multiple chip manufacturing companies had already signed deals to open manufacturing plants in America specifically because of the CHIPS act incentives.
Donald now wants to renegotiate those deals. The same way he renegotiated the Iran nuclear deal by tearing it up and starting a pointless war to negotiate for the terms that were already in the deal he tore up.
And he's calling for (((foreign investment))) in these new manufacturing plants which completely defeats the point of having domestic production.
>>
>>736946705
oh wow, they'd "signed deals" huh? is that it? they hadn't, like, done anything with that? just passed some money around exactly the way happens with every incentive bill they pass in california? weird how that happens

TSMC is entirely held by the balls of US raw high-purity silicate production and US design and verification software (in addition to their balls being simultaneously gripped by the dutch)
>>
>>736946767
takes years to spin up production
especially when Donald changes the terms of the deal halfway through and then acts like a schizo for a whole year on tariffs, making any long term investment in America risky

I am about to pull the trigger and buy a very nice high-end PC with top specs. Might be 5-10k. I am waiting for graphics cards to get cheaper but I might be done waiting soon.
>>
>>736946881
of course, of course, i'm sure if only we had elected kamala we'd be well on our way to massive production, and not hundreds of billions of dollars thrown into a hole that mysteriously works its way into the pockets of political donors

>Multiple chip manufacturing companies had already signed deals to open manufacturing plants in America specifically because of the CHIPS act incentives.
>Donald now wants to renegotiate those deals.
Because they were horrible deals made by autopen.

>The same way he renegotiated the Iran nuclear deal by tearing it up and starting a pointless war to negotiate for the terms that were already in the deal he tore up.
That sure would be fucking amazing because then we would actually have a chip plant and I wouldn't have to hear you dumb cunts bitch about the price of your 500watt future housefires going up.

>And he's calling for (((foreign investment))) in these new manufacturing plants which completely defeats the point of having domestic production.
It's countries investing so they won't have to pay a surplus for our superior tech that all of them seem to be so envious of. It'll make it cheaper for you too. It won't defeat the purpose of domestic production because they can't produce this shit without us in the first place.
>>
the prices are fine, they're competitive with price to performance if you buy a 5070 or any of the current gen amd cards
>>
>>736933629
While its pretty bad now, people have always done the "its too pricey" as a reason to not upgrade. There have been breaks in the pricing multiple times over the last couple years where stuff was fairly cheap, I grabbed a large SSD just last year and a new GPU. Grabbed 64 GB of ram like a year and a half ago.

If you couldn't afford anything parts wise the last couple years you either didn't keep an eye on prices at all or you have bigger budget problems and shouldn't be spending money on luxuries.

Shlomo posting from the cuckbunker
>>
>>736933629
It doesn't really matter, does it? I built a new pc right before everything started spiking. I went overboard with some stuff that's quadrupled in price: 128gb ram, 16tb of nvme drives, pointlessly excessive because I was getting a good discount. The entire thing was something like $1.5k. Just plugged my build into pcpartpicker and if I built the same pc today, it would cost me over $6k.

And every new, graphic intense game I try to play is complete fucking garbage. I spent a week trying shiny new games that my old pc couldn't run and after that I was back to playing low demand indie games and shit from a decade ago. I built my last pc around 2015 and if my motherboard hadn't died, I would have felt absolutely no pressure to upgrade. What's the point of a high end pc if everything you need it to play is shit?
