What are your thoughts on these games? I just played through all of them for the first time in like 13 years and for me it's 2 >>>> 3 > 1.
Also since they put Crysis 4 on hold a year ago can a release still be expected in the next 5 years?

I wish it was more popular. I really liked their approach to an alien invasion.

mid tech demos and only the first one and warhead are worth playing as a game and even then were better sandboxes than a game. i did enjoy the 1 multiplayer match i played, with nuke tanks shooting at nuke tanks

1 + expansion is the only game worth a damn.
If you think otherwise you have some severe dogshit taste.

For me it's 3>2>1. I know the latter two, especially Crysis 2, are very consolised but I honestly think the first game just doesn't play that well. Whilst having a dedicated speed and power mode is cool, the suit power feels poorly balanced, and making maximum armour an actual dedicated tank mode you switch on rather than the default was a massive improvement.

I'm pretty sure it's dead. They officially announced its indefinite on-hold status following lay-offs. Has there ever been a case where this has happened and then the studio actually picked development back up later? I feel like the closest I've seen is the original studio fully closes down and then a different studio gets the IP and makes a completely different game with the same name.

Why just not say that it's cancelled then? As long as they don't make an official announcement about the project being dead I still have hope.
Crysis 3 set up so much potential for a completely new tier of the alien species being a hundred times more advanced than the ones in 2 and 3.

I'm the only one here who really likes Crysis 2. It's such a fun blockbuster that rivals and even succeeds action film of that era.

IDK, I feel like it's very rare for a studio to actually announce they are stopping development on a game, especially if they had made some progress beforehand. Probably it looks really bad to shareholders. Looking at a list of recently cancelled games, the only confirmations of outright cancelled development are from games without an official announcement or title or it is announced alongside the closure of the studio that was making it.

I really liked the way they slowly revealed what the suit actually is over the course of the game. The setting of a freshly fucked Manhattan was also way more engaging than the monotone jungles in 1 and 3.

The multi-player in 2 was ao fucking good, with all the customization you had on your suit, and weapons, great maps, fun modes.
I was unemployed just when the game came out, and for those 3 months the only thing I played was that, managed to get top pf the world in ps3.

I like Crysis 2, I just prefer 3

I thought 1 was a pretty tech demo but awful to play
I thought 2 was incredible consolized in conparison, but the levels were well designed, the soundtrack is top tier and setpieces were great
I have no fucking clue what I thought of crysis 3 despite playing it twice
I remember a hunting bow and I remember a dam, it was really underwhelming

In my opinion 2 has better story progession and level design. The areas were big enough to give you enough options for tactical approach and combat yet nothing was overblown and there was still a sense of linearity.
3 looks prettier but I noticed that they overused these incredibly vast and wide open zones which served no purpose when compared to the amount of enemies you face in the respective areas.
Whenever I engaged a wave of enemies it felt like at least half of the map was utterly pointless.
Maybe they could've used the overblown map sizes by adding side missions but there hardly were any.

I can see that. I mostly prefer 3 over 2 because I did like the bow and mainly I liked the man-or-machine story with Prophet, even if it's fairly cliche
>>
2>3>1
By far.
2 was peak actionslop.

>the soundtrack is top tier
Hans Zimmer kino.

I used to play it a lot at the start of the covid pandemic and told people footage from the intro was real
