What happened to companies treating their star characters and key designs as sacred? It feels like the MCU giving every character a tacticool redesign set a bad precedent for iconic characters. I'm sure narcissistic project leads are also behind this, everyone must "make their mark" nowadays. It is exactly like how all brands started making their logos oversimplified, even at the expense of customers (I'm almost certain companies that fell out of popularity like Uncle Ben's and Coppertone more just manufactured censorship as a reason to get rid of logos they really just deemed too complex). This is another problem aside from blatantly ruining classic designs. Everything is being make super simple so children can draw it and it can spread "easily" like it is a national flag or some shit. Also lets the company resell the old design as classic. I hate this shit so much, especially since it is retarded and loses money in most cases. Many modern companies for whatever reason pretend like they don't actually need customers.

>>736952671>Why does every character have to have a lame redesign nowadays?For modern Street Fighter like 6 and probably the rest of Capcom, Capcom mentioned in a interview that they wanted to appeal to the western audience and saying western fans don't like the anime/eastern styles and they are right to some extent. The kind of western audience they wanted wouldn't touch an anime Street Fighter so everything has to be super realistic as that's what the western audience wants. I'm assuming its the same for a lot of Japanese companies chasing the western trends. They want the "modern western audience" a.k.a normalfags and normalfags have more money to spend than weebs.
In isolation, Cammy's design in 6 is fine (I'm talking the actual design, not the art-style), but it just doesn't look like Cammy. My main gripe is the hair (and lack of beret/hat). If Capcom insists on giving her short hair, I'm sure there are better styles they could've went with while keeping her bangs. Changing her primary color from green to blue isn't as egregious (because Alpha set the precedent for it), but it makes her blend in with the other blue characters and paired with the drastic redesign, just pushes this design further from what makes Cammy Cammy.TL;DR: Leotard and braids better
