The "sequel" was an aborted, unfinished clusterfuck that had no new content and was basically just a shader + VFX pack for the first game that was priced at $50. It was aborted a year after launch and eventually sold to some private equity firm to be an IP to sit on and do nothing with.

Either they're retarded or they really just like planes and building LEO stations. Hell orbital rendezvous, which happens before Mun missions in career mode, is 10x harder than a Mun landing.

>>
>>736950863
This is fake, you can just eyeball it and make it to the moon and the rendezvous with enough fuel.
>>
>>736951372
Space is very simple. Just bring lots of fuel.
Try doing an apollo style lander, where you only land a small craft, with the return trip waiting in orbit. That way you don't have to land and take off with the return fuel.

If you're REALLY struggling for delta-v you can send an unmanned mission to the planet to just get fuel into orbit. Setting up space infrastructure like that is more fun than the regular missions IMO.
>>
>>736951372
How does a typical interplanetary mission go?
Typically you use separate landers and orbiters.
>>
>>736951372
A lot of preparation, satellites and shit.
>>
>>736951372
The easy way is to just overbuild and bring a fuckton of fuel but unless the planet you're landing on has a shit ton of gravity, of which I think everyone has a permanent resident on Eve, you don't actually need that much fuel to get back between using other planets for gravity assists and the simple fact that you can use Kerbin's atmosphere to brake. Landers are popular since they're really fuel efficient and also it's really satisfying to get an orbital rendezvous.

Under no circumstances should you buy KSP2. It's 100% abandoned.

Even buying KSP1 is dubious, as it's now owned by some random holding company that bought the IP from TakeTwo after KSP2 imploded.
Not one single person involved in it's creation will receive a penny of your purchase. The only benefit is the convenience of having it in your Steam library, and the extremely remote chance that the company holding the IP will decide to invest in a new sequel.

That said, KSP1 is DRM free, so feel free to pirate it.

>i can only attach one at the point of the ship
Radial Mount Chute. Each one is as strong as the nose cone chute, but you can place as many as you can fit on the surface area of your capsule. Don't confuse it for the Radial Drogue Chute, those are weaker and intended to slow you down before using your main chutes.
>>
>>736951072
The thing is most people arent going to the mun just to land on it, they will only acrually go there if they can assure a takeoff. Lets go with the steps required for each.
Orbital rendezvous
>get 2 space craft into similar orbits with a small amount of delta-v leftover
>fuck with orbits
>use the correct navigation mode when close to rendezvous
>can be a simple single stack staged rocket, rcs is optional as this is a rendezvous not docking
Land on mun
>get craft to orbit with enough delta v to reach the mun
>find your transfer window
>perform an orbital rendezvous but with only one craft you can control
>make sure this transfer doesnt smash you into it at a million miles an hour
>have enough delta v to deaccelerate when arriving at the mun to enter a stable orbit
>find spot to land that isnt a nasty hill
>time your landing burn to get you on a crash trajectory close to that spot
>switch navigation modes
>slow your horizontal speed to zero while ensuring your descent doesn't exceed 7m/s when landing
>optional: have enough delta v to take off and get you back to earth
>design a craft capable of all of this and a mission plan to ensure you dont fuck up and waste your delta v somewhere
Idk man, seems like mun landing is much, much harder then orbital rendezvous, especially considering the ability to perform one is a nessecary skill needed to actually enter the muns sphere of influence
>>
>>
>>736953789
the actual sequel (of sorts) to KSP is going to be KSA

>>736954139

This was the last thing I had built. I remember I was trying doing a real solar system mod and trying to do some outer solar system missions fairly early in the tech tree. >>
>>736950000

>>
>>736954394
You also need to be going slow enough for chutes to safely deploy. If you right click them, it will tell if it safe or not. So when you reenter, you want to reenter relatively shallow. Don't fly straight into the planet.
>>
>>736954394
also remember, shallow angles of approach, let drag do most the work
ideally you should never really have to slow down your craft "that" much with a chute, chutes are to make sure you hit the ground gently
>>
>>736954310
Its really not, I broke that shit down for you. If you said docking, then yes I can see that being harder for some however for a simple rendezvous no, absolutely not. The skills required for it and landing on the mun overlap, with a mun landing requiring a variety of additonal skills.
>>
>>736954457
>>736954525
>>736954394
a trick if you're using radial ones, use 6 chutes, 3 of them on one stage, 3 of them on another stage

if you mess up and destroy your first chutes you can still use the next stage of chutes when you slow down a bit more
>>
>>736951496
Not if you play on the intended career mode. You can't get to the Mun with basic parts alone without some understanding of orbital mechanics and the physics of flight
>>

Do you not jettison the thrusters? Like, you're trying to land with everything to attached to your capsule? Put Decouplers in between the thrusters / fuel tanks and the Capsule, and use the staging commands to jettison them in order as they're used up.

>>736958492
it's really not, in Spore you can add parts anywhere and only the stats are applied (oh what we lost) while KSP has the closest thing to full newtonian physics simulation applied on each piece, so you can't just add parts randomly, you need to fully plan out the vessel you're building.

the game is too niche and set scenarios get boring after a while. If it was an open world sandbox with modding support then it would have been a diff story
>>

KSP is popular because it's deep enough to be challenging but also relatively easy to learn if you try.

Mods can make it much more complex and realistic though.

>Any essential mods?
I have over 50 mods installed, but the only one I'd call "essential", especially if you're coming back and want a mostly vanilla experience, is Kerbal Engineer Redux, which simply displays very useful information about your ship both when building it and flying it
Also, use CKAN to mod KSP, as it automatically takes care of any dependency issues when installing mods

>What would even be the motivation or goal in lying about space travel?
For Apollo then to say that we 'beat' the soviets at something. The check there is, of course, why did the soviets not disprove our claim by pointing out any of the numerous shit we did was fake
For the rest its just general idiocy self-perpetuating a very blatant CIA psyop meant to discredit "conspiracy theorists" as a whole by lumping them in with with genuine retards. No matter how compelling of evidence or how strange a "coincidence" you point out and how it would be extremely beneficial for someone in power they just need to say some magic words and now you're one of the idiots who believes something that was proven thousands of years ago is fake and that there's been a worldwide, 3000+ year conspiracy to fake.

What happened here?
>>
I don't get that game at all. I couldn't even finish my first flight because the button to finish a flight was hidden in an extra control panel that needed to be expanded by clicking on a completely unassuming part of the UI. Who the fuck designed this shit?

Afterwards everything went smoothly for a while. I got research parts that gave me more research the further I made it... until it didn't. Even doubling my distance and reaching the outer atmosphere for the first time gave me almost no research.

The only thing left to do was missions. It was extremely slow but at least it was progress. Eventually I got a mission to get research data from the home planet and send it to the base. "That should be easy" I thought. It's basically what I've been doing anyway but I couldn't figure out how. Finishing the flight didn't do it and there was no button for transmitting the research. I looked everywhere. I even randomly clicked on every part of the UI just in case there's another hidden control panel.

I like the rocket building part but everything else is just unintuitive grindy trash. I guess the game just isn't for me.

are there any mods that spruce up the home base

Is the movie starring literally me good?
>>
>>736965546
They failed to make a good game due to mountains of technical debt, then the studio disintegrated. Now you are left with a shitty "tech demo".
>>
>>736965547
>there was no button for transmitting the research
You need an antenna and click it to transmit the research.
>>
>>736965547
>reaching the outer atmosphere for the first time gave me almost no research
You're supposed to gather data by using science science parts during your mission. The game barely gives any science points for just getting somewhere
Plus the game doesn't give you any more science if you try to run the same experiment in the same area again. You're generally encouraged to explore new places or run different experiments. Though the Mobile Processing Lab is OP and breaks science
>>
>>736965660
>science science parts
Reformatted my post and didn't notice this kek
>>
>>736965546
It's a long story but basically a series of terrible executive decisions doomed the game from the start, and eventually the publisher pulled the plug on the studio and sold the IP to some holding company.
>>
>>736965506
How do you even land something like that on a planet? Even getting something as big as that to orbit kerbin would be a struggle for me.
>>
>>736950000
It is a great game. Make sure to watch a tutorial about how to get into orbit, if you don't know.
There are also a bunch of mods that are worth checking out.
>>
>>736965654
I have to click the actual in game model? Is this a joke? How the hell is anyone supposed to figure this out? Everything else was done through key binds so far.

>>736965660
Let me guess. I actually have to click the science parts for them to work. I thought they worked passively since they actually gave me a small amount of science every flight. No wonder progress was so slow.

Moon landing denialism is sovereign citizen ideology for people who want to be equally as obnoxious without getting their windows busted out during traffic stops.
Which is to say that moon landing deniers deny the moon landing to be annoying and to frustrate people. They force themselves to believe that we didn’t go because it’s a necessary predicate to being an obnoxious prick, not because of the quality of the evidence against the moon landing.
