Was he just suffering from Schizophrenia and PTSD?
>>736952704Just like me and OP
>>736952704Probably alcoholism too, considering the remake is Made In Poland
Eileen shaving
THE TOWN MADE HIM STUPID
fucking masterpiece
>>736952704That's the issue, we don't know how much of James's mental illness is truly his or how much Silent Hill is fucking with him on the spot. It's a match made in heaven.
>>736952704>>736952979>>736953278>Killed his wife>uhhhh guys whats his problem lol schizo?
>>736953325funny enough it's more about the aftermath of killing the wife and less about the actual act.
>>736953325He probably developed the mental illness from that event, most things don’t just happen in a vacuum. Put enough stress on someone and they begin to dissociate / derealize. It’s a defense mechanism to protect yourself even though it itself carries its trauma. He couldn’t deal with the guilt of killing his wife so he began to forget who he was, you can see him touching his face in the mirror it’s a classic example of derealization thinking you are in a dream. Also the PTSD triggers whenever he remembers something usually from a trigger like when he went back to his apartment building.
>>736952704t b h I think the idea that he killed his wife, immediately threw her body in the car and booked it to Silent Hill is very stupid
>>736952704he basically completely disassociated from reality after killing mary, the town is real and it is conjuring those monsters based on james' subconscious feelings of guilt and his sexual frustrations tho
>"James... If that were true, then why do you look so sad?"Actual perfection in a single line of dialog.
>>736952791he was an established alcoholic in the original
>>736954292I replayed the original recently after over 15 years (i got out of vidya in general), only now i managed to really see how beautifully written they are
>Is Silent Hill 2 really that good?yes
>>736952704just arrived at the hotel, so far it was okeyish. the original is superior,But holy fuck it's unoptimized as shit, with huge drops in framerate, also couple times the environment didn't load and I fell through the map, though it was part of the game kek.
>>736954682it's so ironic that back then they used the fog to make the game faster, and now it's actually making the game slower . how did that even happen
>>736954682that's unreal engine for you, too bad it's completely taking over the industry because all the DEI hires were trained on it.
>>736954730My guess is today it’s rending the fog and environment where as in the old engine the fog was used to obscure the environment. Today’s devs are just lazy as fuck using upscaling to hide from horrible optimization.
>>736952704He was a murdering scumbag, fuck him.
Remake James is a much better character, too bad he's stuck in a worse game overall.
