How come gamers hate HDR?
4k OLED with 1000+ nits literally feels like a going into games machine.
Best investment I've ever made.
>inb4 burn-in (shit that hasn't happened to any flagship OLED released in the last 3 years)
>>
>>736952889
well it is a massive finnicky pain in the ass to set up and lots of games don't support it or have a completely fucked implementation and I'm saying that as someone with an HDR monitor that I think looks great
>>
>>736952889
it's usually implemented poorly, plus windows sucks at handling it
>>
>>736953017
yeah this
RTX HDR is fucking obnoxious to leave on across programs as for some reason it just randomly breaks and washes out the colors of shit
windows auto-HDR sucks
special-k is good and cool but breaks the multiplayer of games which is annoying
>>
>>736953017
Win + Alt + B.
Its just that easy anon
>>
Because not everyone wants to use HDR all the time and might also play games which don't support HDR. OLED in SDR is like 300 nits max while some random Chinese miniLED display will hit 600. There are particular use cases for OLED and it still has a lot of downsides if you don't use it for/in those use cases.
>>
You can literally walk into Best Buy right now and see burn-in on their display Samsung and Sony models.
>>
>>736953146
the fact that you think this means that your monitor is calibrated completely wrong
>>
>>736952889
ill get a new tv when they figure out glassless 3d that doesnt look like shit, by the time that happens hdr will have fixed burn in
>>
>>736953145
Auto hdr is fine. At least it has your calibration to work with and it doesnt make everything look saturated as fuck like rtx hdr.
>>
HDR and Oled quality are a thing I didn't initially think much of before, but once you set it up right and play something it's really noticeable how much a difference it can make.

without any context how could we possibly know how bad this is
>>
>>736953743
I thought i would try out one of those HVA Chinese mini led's after my OLED burned out. It basically looks the same but its brighter and i don't have to worry about burn in.

they can't afford it. simple as
>>
>>736955970
A decent 1000+ nit HDR set isnt crazy anymore. Its like $1000.
>>
>>736953554
>hes only watching the news 24/7
>>
>>736952889
No standard setting for calibration, and it also depends on the monitor tech and implementation which can vary WILDLY.

And it is not something you could advertise without seeing how it functions in-person.
>>
>>736957101
>calibration
>turn hgig on
>set min max brightnesd in win11 app
>play game/watch movie

Literally the same feeling I had when i jumped into last of us. Even at 3000 bucks i could careless its so worth it.
>>
>>736952889

HDR smells like snakeoil jeet salesman scam
>>
>>736958209
Cheap Chinese Mini LED's sure came outta left field and curb stomped OLED didn't they.
>>
>>736953358
post her panties

CES had a bunch of new mini led monitors, no idea when they're supposed to hit the market. I want a 32 inch mini led ips monitor.

>4k OLED with 1000+ nits
Where did you find 4k 1000 nit oled? Most oled monitors 600 nit max
>>
>>736952889
HDR doesn't work on desktops anywhere near easily enough, suddenly your lovely looking system theme is garbage on the eyes and most content just looks way worse.
>>
>>736952889
Because modern OLED monitors can display peaks of maybe 400-500 without dimming the other parts of the screen to compensate for the high brightness and LCD monitors have other problems.
>>
>>736961136
Wtf are you talking about? KDE, Gnome can display SDR content on HDR screens just fine, Windows 11 has some troubles with blacks but kinda ok still.
>>
>>736961136
uh just turn it off in dekstop?
>>
>>736952889
SDR in desktop is still superior and unless windows 11 manages to automatically enable HDR on all HDR supported games automatically when launching it then some users will still hate it
>>
>thread about HDR/DLSS/4K
>poorfags in unison : "Nooo. You can't make me buy it , please stop. reeeeeee"
Why do you do this?
