Alot of tales of games have strong castors but berserias are ridiculousVelvet has a very fun kit, but the actual combat system sucks. It basically plays like a lobotomized version of graces system.The story and characters are actually good for the first time since vesperia. Graces had great characters and skits but the actual story was abysmal. I like how no one is doing the right thing in berseria everyone is wrong. It's obvious freeing the malakhim is not in humanities interest we will either use them or they will enslave us, yet it's understandable why velvet would collaborate with these creatures because of how she felt about laphicet. Artorious literally kills children and justifies it as being for the greater good, yet the Abby is necessary to contain and wield the malakhims power for humanities interest. So basically berserias plot has you playing as the bad guys trying to free these supernatural beings which give humans magic powers in order to stop a child murder. And if you think with your feels it's easy to be on team velvet. But if you use your brain a little it's obvious why the Abby is necessary or else the supernatural beings will enlave us so we worship them (greater malaks grow stronger from human prayer). But the Abby is also a bunch of holier than thou drug dealers/child murders/tyrants. No one is right I love it.They visuals are hideous. I wish they would go back the the superdeformed cel shaded style of earlier games. Also I miss fixed camera angles they did a lot to make towns ambient. Theyre part of the reason ps2 rpg towns are so fucking comfy.The equipment level up system seems amateurish almost in its implementation. Did they really go from vesperia to this? Terrible. Also you have an inventory limit and the games shits out duplicate equips at you so every now and then you gotta inventory manage
