Unknown Worlds is independent again, and they have full control of Subnautica 2

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1962700/Subnautica_2/
>>
>>736960697
And how many of the original devs remain?
>>
>>736960697
Below zero showed that they didn't really understand the appeal of Subnautica 1.
Combining that with all the behind the scenes drama I have little hope for Subnautica 2.
>>
I thought the game was "ready to ship" months ago why do they keep changing shit
>>
who's responsible for the nigress MC, krafton or the original devs
>>
They fired the original composer and so I shan't be playing it
>>
>co-op
w-why?
>>
>>736960962
Original devs of course. Krafton is a Korean company. They do not care about Western politics shit. If it was up to them every female would have pale porcelain doll skin.
>>
>>736960697
man, i dont give a shit about their corporate drama. i just care about whether or not the game is good.

This is actually bad news, as Krafton probably were the ones who keep the devs grounded. Now they can go full libtard.

I'd say no.
>>
>>736960830
Hopefully none
>>
>>736960697
Which means it's going to be another Below Zero. Yep the only reason I had any expectations for this was Krafton tard wrangling those pretentious snowflakes high on the smell of their own farts
>>
Well I've lost all interest in this now. Krafton were the only reason I had any hope of this being good. Now there's no one to tard wrangle the pretentious virtue signaling, pearl clutching faggot devs.
>>
>>736962825
They almost sunk the game entirely just to save face on a bad contract. You bootlickers really will punch your nose to spite your face.
>>
>>736970035
I consider this still better than getting another below zero when they weren’t being wrangled.
>>
>>736970252
>I'd rather they make nothing than a game I don't like
please take the korean penis out of your mouth and consider how retarded that sounds
>>
>>736960697
I have a feeling this game will literally be just what we saw in previews. It will literally just be a reef and the giant cephalopod thing. No list of complex biomes, cool vehicles, or anything you'd expect of a Subnautica 2.
>>
>>736960697
Aren't these the guys that gutted the sound of the game because the sound guy wasn't enough of a left winger?
>>
>>736970501
You think they're actually gonna put something that cool in?

You will get another shark sized up to leviathan scale and like it
>>
>>736967817
There was never any wrangling, the studio had total creative control over the game, as per the contract krafton tried to commit fraud over
>>
>>736970035
Below Zero was utter trash and all signs was they didn't learn their lesson. You seem like the bootlicker here giving them a pass for that garbage.
>>
>>736970713
Oh, so they're just shit developers?
>>
>>736960697
Damage is already done. Subnautica 2 needs to be fucking amazing to recovery any consumer trust.
And we all know it will not be.
>>
>>736964061
why they did good work on the first game, I don't know what went wrong with below zero. I guess they fired all the people with talent like the sound designer
>>
>>736970738
If I don't like the game I don't have to buy it, like below zero. Letting goin giant publishers get away with fraud out of spite for danger hairs is insect behavior. No better than cheering for Nintendo sending fleets of lawyers at random people for making fangames.
>>
>>736960697
crazy how big this game got considering they stole the whole idea from some poor solo indie dev
>>
>>736960962
Obviously the devs. Did you already forget that they didn't include weapons in the first game due to Sandy Hook?
>>
>>736960697
Trailer shows protagonist and his story.
Trailer of the first game didn't do this - it was from first person view - you were the protagonist.
Game is going to be Below Zero 2.
>>
>>736970993
dude the first game was a complete and total fluke the devs are just astronomically retarded libshits and had no idea what made it good
expect another below zero
>>
>subnautica 2 owned by the devs again
>takes another 5 years to come out as they fuck around on personal projects instead of developing
yay?
>>
>>736960697
so what?
>>
Why do indie and indieesque AA developers have such a hard time just making a copy of something successful but with more? It really isn't fucking hard to imagine cool things for an Arctic Subnautica. Especially when they already have great concept art but butchered it at every turn. Maybe it is from the retarded process they have where each step of development has some separate fag, including minimal animation in Blender. We should've had an isolated game with huge ice shelves, eerie seafloors, claustrophobic ice caves that may even shift, something actually meaningful for the lily pad biome, etc.
>>
>>736970035
>They almost sunk the game entirely
By not releasing it early?
By trying to dodge the contract they unintentionally saved the game from early access garbage.
>>
>>736971320
Its crazy no one has made a spiritual successor in the time between 1 and 2.
>>
>>736962825
Legitimately the complete opposite
>>
>>736971061
>If I don't like the game I don't have to buy it,
Nobody here is doing anything different, fucking retard. Still gonna complain about it on 4chins and if that bothers you then I suggest you take your own advice and ignore it.
>>
>>736971180
>devs didn't include weapons in the first game due to Sandy Hook?
But aren't they Swedes, why would they care about US crap.
>>
>>736971635
complain all you want, but if you act like a corporate shill then I'll call you one
>>
>>736971693
That's what being political in the rest of the world is these days. Being obsessed with America
>>
>>736971693
Because gun violence and ownership bad and they must virtue signal.
>>
>>736971413
>saved the game from early access garbage.
It's still Early Access.
>>
>>736971846
Yeah, because the original leads took over.
>>
>>736972067
It was never not going to be Early Access. Krafton only wanted to delay the release of the Early Access so they wouldn't have to pay a bonus for them hitting a 2025 sales target. They didn't want to make the game a 1.0 release. They simply didn't want them to make money so that they wouldn't have to pay them. You have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>736970369
It is actually a defensible position
>>
>>736972303
They didn't make it EA in 2025, and because of the court proceedings, they wouldn't make it EA in 2026 as well if they still had control.
>>
>>736972387
clearly not or krafton would have won the case
>>
>>736972303

That's their defense, yes. The game wasn't ready and so it had to be delayed. Tough shit if they don't get their bonus because of it. It allegedly wasn't even part of the decision.

By itself is alright but if you played the original It felt like a stepdown. The world is smaller and you move slower, they removed the coolest vehicle (RIP the Cyclops, best boy forever) while adding a complete ass vehicle, the story is terrible, the writing is terrible and the dialog is somehow worse than the latter two, and a bunch of other shit I'm probably forgetting about now.
I wouldn't say it's bad, it's just frustrating.

>>736972720
It's okay, but the issue is that it's inferior when it didn't need to be. It still has alright creature designs, but the environment doesn't make sense, you move slower, everything is smaller (except the worm I guess), and if you aren't listening to annoying conversations then you haven't gotten very far

Nope. A lot of biomes are too small and difficult to navigate for it, so they just got rid of it and replaced it with something more lame. Really if they added it back for Subnautica 2 and it says "welcome aboard captain, all systems online" when you enter it would restore a huge amount of trust for me.
Also no voice acted protagonist please, I fucking beg you.

the cyclops was big, slow, annoying to maneuver and only needed for the lava zone anyway. I don't miss it in the least.

The real crime was getting rid of the seamoth with it, an incredibly good and useful vehicle you're using for 90% of the game. The short bus is the ugly middle ground between the two with all the bad and none of the good.
>>
>>736970369
There are many entries I wish were never made. Dead space 3 was worse than not being made. RE6, Halo 4, Tears of the Kingdom, FF7Remake (all of it), probably many more.

>>
>>736970501
I feel like they are hard focusing co op and want this to be an e-dating game. And honestly it just might work. Women love to be scared around a "protector". There's actually a decent money making opportunity there to do co op horror games like the co op "it takes 2" cottage industry. Unfortunately zoomers are broken by a broken system and don't have as many relationships as they should at their age. If this concept of game were released in a 2010 era society with modern day tech adoption rates it would do crazy numbers.

I have zero faith that it translates into a good gameplay experience, lmao. I'm purely talking commercial success.

>>
>>736973729
Are you a different person or are you just schizophrenic? The anon claimed Krafton was attempting to save the game from being "Early Access garbage" when that was never the plan. It was only to avoid the payout, just as you said just now. The game was always going to to release into Early Access regardless of whatever fantasies useful idiots dream up to try and make it seem like the publishers were being noble.
>>

It's up to 4-player coop and there are plenty of 4-player horror games already. This is a gigantic stretch. Coop is just an obligatory thing now if you're capable of adding it in because it's free extra money. Slay the Spire 2 was the last game I was expecting to get it and it got it, and the implementation is extremely lacking and barebones. And yet, even /v/ is in on it and they post lobbies all the time.
>>
>>736967817
Why do you fucking retards always make shit up to satisfy your moronic political teams? Krafton wasn’t controlling the devs at all, this all happened so they could get out of a retarded contract they themselves entered into. You have to be a special kind of stupid to defend these retards just because the SN devs are homo libs. The enemy of your enemy is not your friend, get it through your thick skull.

Every indication shows they literally have no idea why it was successful. Things the game was widely applauded for they have explicitly said were mistakes that would be "fixed" in Below Zero.

The original leads got the full access to the game's steam account, and they plan to release it in May to hit new payout deadline. That's not Krafton's decision anymore.
Again, if Krafton was in charge of release date, they would delay it as long as possible to avoid any payout extensions.

And no matter how long they delayed it would still launch in early access, because that was the plan from the start. How much work do you think is getting done while holding the game hostage with nobody at the helm to manage it? Would it just somehow reach 1.0 internally with an extra six months of nothing?
