Whether they deserved to or not, it happened. Mistakes were made. The elevator was broken by accident, BUT it was in response to Eide attacking Mae, BUT Eide was pissed off about being shot with a crossbow, which Gregg did without warning, BUT Mae saw him kidnap someone so they had a good reason to be mistrust him, etc etc
