Wo actually (provably) lost their game development job to AI?
I can't think of a single case.

>inb4 last years AAA layoffs
those were because of credit crunching/economic contraction, cause certain people wouldn't stop printing money and then raising interest rates.

slop jobs got replaced by slop generators
if your job was basically just sorting through data or pumping out soulless designs you got laid off.
video games haven't been affected that hard by it cause people catch the decrease in quality and simply don't buy your crap.

I'm gonna say this- Corporations are going to attempt to replace a lot of types of jobs with AI, and they'll probably do it, too, insofar as they'll fire the people doing them and shove an AI in its place and hope it can do the same job, but it won't TRULY take their work... Only their position
However the only people who's job can easily be replaced by AI and be done in the same exact manner, are people who are basically already living NPCs and whose job is just to talk pretty and convincing sounding words at you that vaaaguely sound like real sentences if you're not really paying attention, which is what AI is really good for, putting one word after another in a way that is only somewhat grammatically logical and convinces idiots that it makes sense

It'll replace advertisers, committees, psychotherapists, people in HR, everyone who's "job" is to generate a string of words every day, writing emails or coming up to their boss and randomly exclaiming "Very good today very good business practices for improving customer consumer relations efficiency for business practices very graph much number yes", or repeatedly staring a crying person in the face through glossy eyes and going "But how feel? Yes? Trauma yes? Father bad? But how father, is trauma? But how bad? Feel good yes? Ok time's up bye..."
It'll replace pencilpushers and paper forwarders and people who's position requires more words to explain and then validate it's existence than the amount of time they actually spend doing something useful.,

AI will only replace artificial jobs.

socia media managers
that's why you hear so much complaining there

devs? not so much
havent heard much AI voice acting in vidya either.

extremely prevalent on TV however cause boomers can be fed any slop.
every time i am watching TV with my parents there is some generated garbage on there. Not that TV hasn't already been ABSOLUTE shit before so it doesnt make much of a difference i guess.

Make-work positions mostly. You still need artists for assets because AI generated art is painfully obvious to spot, vibe coded software cant pass basic security/unit tests, AI writing is a worse slave to cliches than stephen king and management decisions are being made by people who arent going to replace themselves
Within a year or two clankers are going to be accepted as little more than erp bots if they cant fix the hallucinations inherent to LLMs
