Halfway through the crowbcat video now and it's clear he was just seething about the backlash to his last RE4 video. Sure there are some valid criticisms, but for the most part he's just grasping at anything - using examples of things in RE4R that have never happened to me in hundreds of hours of play as if these outliers are the rule. Many of his criticisms are entirely contradictory and nitpicky to the extent it detracts from his overall points.
My stance is that there are definitely things you can criticize RE4R for, but that crowbcat in particular cannot see past his own obsessive hate boner to judge it with integrity.

I definitely get frustration with the rabble acting like the new games is just objectively better because it's more modern, it's really just different. the arcadey lightgun turret gameplay of the original is a distinct concept, not something you can trivially make obsolete with modern controls. the original does have flaws imo, mostly an undertuned default difficulty but that's outside the retro modern scale.

I agree with you, I love RE4R but I can love it without tearing down the OG, which I replayed just this month for the dozenth time and it's still so damn solid. They depict it as if it's a RE1 tank controls style minefield to navigate and it's not, it's just RE5 but slower.

Even PRO in the OG is too easy. Rocket launchers are still very much affordable and you can get an exclusive upgrade for the bolt-action by 4-1, only 3 sub chapters after you can in the Remake. The most fun I ever had with 4 was a mod where Salvador was on every map and they doubled the enemy count, but I can't find a version of it for the UHD port, only the Ubisoft one.

Take the exclusive upgrade ticket for the Chicago Typewriter, throw the golden egg at Salazar at the start of the fight, and then use the Typewriter to effortlessly shit on the rest of the game to get your S+.

There you go, that's all you need to get the S+. The hardest part of the run is the beginning, but once you get your upgrades it's pretty much over. Get to the end before Saddler? Sell your garbage and get the RPG to one shot him.
