Your new task to kill 232 Abyssal demons
Oh boy I love those tasks maybe I'll get a whip>gets one whip every ten tasks
>>736974018I genuine have to ask because everytime I ask a faggot on the official discord they give 0 answers and the /vg/ is a fucking mess. What exactly is the point of soul harvest if you pick Wildy and Desert? Everyone is acting like RC is this impossible skill to level up when we have a dozen ways to do so and chaos altar with transmutation would be a much much faster and better way to level up the skill, so why does every faggot and their content creators suggest that waste of a skill? From these 3 relics Natures accord feels like the much better skill. Use that to use your highest level herb, downgrade them until they're up to your herbelore level and then make your potions until you can do the minigame in Varlo. Am I missing something? Why is Chaos Altar never mentioned?
Leagues.
>>736974358That is my line of thinking too. Soul Harvest is bait, or for Dragon Cup speedrunners. I am in Zeah this league so I can get farming to 99 really fast as well as have plenty of herbs to train herblore, with Nature's Accord of course.
>>736974487I've played the last 3 leagues to the Dragon Cup, but man, this new League seems so fucking boring.90% of relics are derivatives (or just straight up copies) of previous leagues' relics. It seems so... standard.First one I'm skipping.
>>736974487i'd play it if it was a permanent mode. i don't really understand the appeal of temporary RS. a weapon skin or some skin color for my main? wow i'm not putting in 100s of hours for that.but i'd be down for a permanent character option of crazy OP mode with boosted rates and OP QoL powers, more crazy gear, and hard mode solo bossing.
>>736974018on it boss
>>736974358If you're going for 50m Runecraft XP (point capping, completing every single task) then Soul Harvest is pretty necessary because Runecraft is aids to train. Even with GOTR and other "good" training methods you're topping out at like 1m/hr.But the vast majority of people are not doing that, so they don't need to pick it. If your goal is Dragon Cup you don't even need to get every skill to 99. A lot of people are picking Kandarin which will have a 95 RC task to make Wrath runes, but that's doable if you have any half-decent training method, like Zeah or Morytania for blood runes and the Map relic so you can teleport to shortcuts. And Prayer is completely irrelevant here, superior dragon bones on the Wildy altar is literally >50m/hr.I'm personally taking Larcenist over NA, NA is definitely good but I feel like Transmute is a good enough solve for Farming + Herbs (I will always have the best tree seeds and whatever herbs I need) and you still need to do farm runs with NA anyway since they don't instant-grow this time.
>>736974018apple didnt fall far from the tree
>>736974487I haven't played the game since they introduced that safezone town in the wildy, how overwhelmed would I be by leagues and end up picking back relics?
>>736974358You cant cheat rune essence with transmute. Everything that gets transmuted is automatically noted. So you are running essence one inventory at a time not sitting at the altar with 10 million air runes and then converting them into full inventories of essence
>>736974583>this new League seems so fucking boringWhat? I get that there are some reused relics, but>starting in Varlamore, meaning you're basically getting 4 regions for the first time and the established meta for some skills is shaken up>combat masteries are now a PoE-style skill tree>all of the echo items are either new or updated>the pacing and relic power level were finally both brought back down to a reasonable level (banker's note was a mistake)Transmutation is one of the more interesting concepts they've ever done, too.
>>736974358>What exactly is the point of Soul Harvest if you pick Wildy and DesertIt depends on how much GotR you plan to do and whether you're using diary lamps on RC. Most people have a raging hate-boner for Agility and RC, so they'll pick and aggressively advertise any relic that affects these skills. It's possible to train RC as long as you have a reliable source of pure essence and an altar to use it that isn't abysmal dog shit. Desert doesn't need to worry about that due to GotR. I guess the Wildy does have the novelty of picking up bones in the bone yard and instantly getting 99 Prayer with Transmutation, but is that really worth picking a relic for? You'll probably be fucked for herbs with Wildy and Desert, so Nature's Accord isn't a terrible idea. You'll be fucked for herb patches so even if you're drowning in seeds, you'll have nowhere to plant them. It's also one of the few region combinations where Friendly Forager is okay, although it isn't for the secondaries.>chaos altar with transmutation would be a much faster and better way to level up the skillDon't do this. You can't transmute air runes into pure essence at altars, it transmutes them into noted essence. Yes, this is stupid.>use that that your highest level herb, downgrade themIf you're implying that you're transmuting herbs, you can't. You can only transmute herb seeds. It seems like you don't know how Transmutation actually works.
>fire cape>quest cape>crabbed to mid 90s melee statsI think I'm done playing
>>736975731I'm talking about the prayer chaos altar and transforming bones.>Cant transform herbsoops, my bad. Maybe Butler isnt a bad idea then to reload into
>>736975412>I get that there are some reused relics, but>somehttps://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Demonic_Pacts_League/RelicsGoing through the list:>tier 1: all reused, or derivatives / amalgamations of previous relics>tier 2: see above>tier 3: two new teleports, granted, but this isn't exactly interesting, every League has let you teleport basically anywhere you want instantly>tier 4: two new ideas>tier 5: one new idea>tier 6: all reused ideas>tier 7: one new idea (sort of -- faster tick rates isn't exactly new)>tier 8: all reused (Flask being the most altered, but still essentially just the same "don't die" relic as last league mixed with Undying Retribution (AoE damage upon "death").I count only about 20% of them being entirely new.I zoned out of the League after seeing the state of those. Starting in Varlamore isn't exciting enough to change that, it's already been an available zone in the last league + gridmaster
>>736974546>Soul Harvest is bait, or for Dragon Cup speedrunnersA lot of people are just blindly copying autistic those autistic Dragon Cup speedrunners' routes without understanding that their goal is to get Dragon Cup in <48 hours, log off of Leagues, and never touch it again. It doesn't really align with the average Leagues player's goals.Worse than the Dragon Cup speedrunners, I see a lot of content creators advising players to waste at least 1 of their 3 pact respecs on relatively early game content like Amoxliatl (lmao) and Moons. Just fucking melee Moons off-style, man. It's not going to kill you with 5x drop rates and easy supplies.
Not being able to transform air runes into essences to use directly at altars is really retarded desu
>>736974487I'm just gonna rawdog this league and regret doing in 4 days in
>>736975857ah my bbut yeah 90% of people are picking soul harvest purely for the RC XP, and chaos altar covers the prayer XP already as you said
>>736975985Just goes to show how retarded it is to really follow any of these guides. Runescape content creators are infamous for being scummy little retards who dont actually know what they're talking about or even do it out of malice to boost some merchant/PK clan.
>>736974358most people aren't going wildy or desert so theres the real answer. Also people don't like training rc
>>736975287It could be a little overwhelming. One of the gimmicks this time is that instead of starting in Misthalin like normal (Lumbridge and Varrock and the surrounding areas), that whole region is completely inaccessible. Instead we're starting in Varlamore, the newest region in the bottom left of the map, which has a ton of content to do that would all be new to you.In Leagues you don't have the whole map available to you, just 3 regions of your choice (plus the starting region and Karamja) that you have to unlock by completing tasks in your areas and with general progression (eg. reaching certain levels). This limits your options, but that can help make things less overwhelming since you don't have to consider the entire game. A lot of people use Leagues to try out higher-level content they're not as familiar with, like Raids, or just stick with the content that they know they enjoy doing. Each region this time also has its own "Echo Boss," stronger versions of existing bosses like KBD or Kalphite Queen, which drop overpowered Leagues-only items that you can have fun with and build around. The most overwhelming part is probably the other new gimmick this League, the "Demonic Pacts" which are replacing the old Combat Mastery system. You progress your melee/magic/range by completing specific combat-related tasks to earn points, which you spend in a pretty in-depth skill tree that leads you into specific builds (eg. using crossbows or fire spells). You have a limited number of points, a good amount of which are locked behind pretty high-level content, and a limited number of opportunities to respec your points. It is a lot to look at, and I would tell you to just follow a guide but a lot of Youtubers are just showing off what you can do if you have all the points and endgame gear. If you just focus on building into one specific thing and branching out from there, you'll be fine. At worst you'd just be playing the game normally with some perks.
>>736975287>>736976295Also, in terms of Relics, they've done a pretty good job balancing them this time, you don't need to worry about it so much. None of them are really bad options for normal people who just want to have some fun with the temporary game mode.If you end up regretting not picking something or if you're torn between two options in the same tier, you can use Reloaded in Tier 7 to go back and pick it up anyway.
>>736976295>>736976550I see, thanks for the info. Is there a way to have a 1-tick blowpipe like in the earlier league, loved that shit.
>>736975287you'll be chill, but you'll likely make some incorrect* choices. i played leagues 2 after not touching the game since i was a kid and it was fun. for reference, my build was literally retarded: i decided i liked ancient magicks and decided that the boots from Cerberus in Asgarnia were more valuable than the +9% magic strength i would have gotten from Kandarin. nonetheless, i ended up learning Theatre of Blood (the second raid they added to the game) and getting a lot of groups because i could freeze with ice barrage, lol.relics are mostly self-explanatory, but you should still look into them before you pick them since they're permanent. the first tier of relics is pretty self-explanatory and balanced:>Endless Harvest is good in general and great if you like to AFK>Barbarian Gathering is good if you have access to the highest tier woodcutting and mining resources (redwoods in Zeah and amethyst in Asgarnia), but offers passive Agility and Strength XP>Abundance is good if you want to do tasks earlier and passively generate goldso for someone who's unfamiliar with the game, Endless Harvest is likely the logical choice as you're less aware of what's in each region and you'll get good value out of AFKing, whether you're just clicking a rock and going to sleep or using that AFK time to think about things.as >>736976295 said demonic pacts will be more overwhleming than relic or region choices. but there's pretty simple and strong pacts that i think are self-evident. for example, light weapons (<1kg) being 1t faster with very few points invested is obviously an easy build to get off the ground with access to a dragon dagger through Zanaris. just look into a combat style and specialization that sounds fun to you.>>736976612not this time, all the tick speed pacts are limited to <1kg melee weapons and powered staves. god knows staves didn't need it, but whatever. blowpipe / darts / chinchompas are rolled into a weird melee / ranged hybrid thing.
>>736976550Agreed, they did a good job this time with a few exceptions. It makes all the usual Leagues "banter" look even more retarded.>LMAOOO look at this retard he's getting 2.4% less XP/h than me!
>>736975985Tbh you can buff up the light melee weapons fairly nicely for just a few pacts, you may even want to keep them unless you have a build in mind that's like range/mage only or something>>736976612No for blowpipes sadly but 1-tick tridents are on the table
>>736976612The design this time seems to be more focused on hitting big numbers than attacking faster, but you can still get 2-tick bows, 2-tick whips/daggers, and 1-tick powered staffs (Trident). Some of the Echo Weapons also have 1-tick/"instant" special attacks.
>>736976769Alright thanks, I think my mindset has to be to go in and just have fun and try to keep my efficiency-brain from sperging out if I choose the "wrong" things. Lord protect me from having another Endless Endurance and Fairy's Flight fiasco on my record.
Going the KBD nuclear cbow build for Leagues. >b-butDon't care. I am going the nuclear cbow build and that's final. Now excuse me while I stop procrastinating and go tick cook Karambwans to 99 in the main game. I wish there was a bigger pact tree. It's not quite big enough to come up with something truly unique
>>736976991those days are long gone you'll be finei have giga efficiency brain and despite that i'm picking relics i know are mediocre just because i want to and it'll be easy to hit dragon cup regardless. i think the only FOMO this time is incredibly specific region / pact combinations, but most region combinations can do multiple fun builds.>>736977131yeah i wish it was a little bit more complicated but i can't complain. i am somewhat disappointed that the ebin meme build i came up with within the first day ended up being one of the more popular ones. i've been looking for a contrarian alternative but there's nothing that works with my region better than what i have.
>>736977131What regions do you like for that? I was thinking about Zeah Asgarnia Wild but I fear the magic weapon options will be pretty miserable
>>736975742at some point you just do everything you wanted to do as kid and never look back on this game
>>736977321NTA but I'm planning on Crossbow -> Water mage and picking WZKHunters' sunlight crossbow -> rune crossbow and KBD crossbow from WildyMagic weapons are kind of feast or famine with needing to get the spear/wand drop from Moons/Huey but the Accursed Sceptre could be a sleeper pick here, even outside of Wildy it's only marginally worse than a Trident and it's gonna shred at 1tick. In long run you can pick up the Eye from Doom and a Kodai/Shadow from CoX (I will obviously be getting the giga staff from Thermie)
>>736977321I'm doing Wildy Asgarnia Desert
>>736977131I can't wait for all the whining when mage fags realize they need to actually train slayer to 93 to even get their build online
>>736978036i calc'd crystal accursed sceptre and it's competitive with air magic for DPS in Wildy, but obviously falls behind outside of it. still, it's fun and nice to have.i'm going to start crossbow with a similar route and short-term goal of KBD crossbow, but i think once i'm done with Corrupted Gauntlet (I'm going WKT, I don't like raids at all) and no longer need 1t powered staves, I'll look into other builds. while the KBD crossbow does synergize with magic and functions as an execute, it may be better to respec into thorns in the endgame, even without access to extremely high defense armor. Wildy gets access to the dragonfire shield which only has a -10 mage bonus and can be used with both crystal blessing and accursed sceptre to probably push it past air magic for teh lulz - but again, only in Wildy, i don't if thorns makes up the difference elsewhere but 1t powered staves is just a fundamentally broken concept.honestly i might save Kandarin for last so I can feel out how powered staves feel and whether it's even worth going air magic.
>>736978565Good thing there's a slayer relic with no real competition then
I dont know which one to fucking take. I was going crossbow water so Minion makes the most sense but I'm worried longer content like inferno might become too annoying without the flask, especially for the prayers>>736978716I saw a LOT of people apperently taking Eternal or Grim for the prayers. Waste of relics but people are really underestimating just how grindy and shit slayer is even with the league boosts.
>>736978694I'll probably respec and get out of the crossbow eventually, but I'm gonna squeeze as much as I can out of it (which will probably be the ~25 points in that build)Once we're a week or two in all the streamers will have worked out all the most optimized builds, and I can learn from their mistakes to see what I need to do the really tough content>>736979071Minion is a no-brainer for me. Literally, I don't want to think about it. Flat aoe DPS everywhere and it picks up drops for me, sounds good.Regening water and air runes should sustain you through everything and most things in the Inferno are weak to water, it's probably fine?
>>736979071I am also going KBD crossbow, and I think flask is still better than minion in that combat style. You should be regenerating enough ammo that minion collecting ammo drops won't matter that much. Your DPS should be high enough at that point that the damage minion does will just be chip damage. Sustain seems like a more reasonable choice imo. If I were to do a melee build, I would take minion over flask.
>>736979071I think the worry with the crossbow build should be how long it takes to kill stuff that isn't bosses. Yeah, Inferno is going to feel like a drag when you're using a 7 tick weapon for it.>people are really underestimating just how grindy and shit slayer is even with the league boosts. This is true, I've never been a fan of how slayer normally is handled in leagues so I would always be looking at the slayer relic and this time I don't have to look twice, which is great.>>736979270The thing about respeccing pacts is that what you can do is shaped by your regions. Like it was mentioned earlier anything maging is going to suck without Kandarin and/or Tirranwn and you can't respec your regions.
>>736979380Minion does like 6 dps, that's not negligible. Even if you have a crazy build doing 30dps that's a 20% damage increase. AoE damage also helps a lot if you're relying on slow single-target damage like the crossbow (I don't have ancients so my best aoe is throwing black chins). On the other hand, I'm picking Zeah and Minion does literally nothing against Yama. I'm kind of shit at the game and a full restore for long/hard fights could be a great crutch for me, it could nuke waves at the Colosseum.Maybe I can respec into the Wind+Water build for all the dps and sustain that I need to carry me through shit. I'm not so sure anymore, I'll definitely consider Flask.
>>736979809>Minion does literally nothing against Yamasomething to keep in mind is that Husky hard dodged a question about a potential echo Yama boss during a livestream today, and Yama was chilling on his throne in the background of the echo boss teaser. it's likely we're getting an endgame Yama fight, which is why the stipulation in some relics exists. when i say hard dodged, i mean he said>um, erm... w-well, you'll just have to wait and see haha
>>736979809Minion and Flask are both pretty good, it really just depends on what suits you better. If you're not too confident having an ambrosia in your pocket can make for a decent crutch, but you need to make sure you actually use it.
>>736979949I don't understand the echo Yama hype, isn't that what the radiant oathplate contracts are for anyway? Personally, I'd much rather have echo Sol back. I don't even need the items, just make doing the colosseum suck less.
Husky is a faggot.
I'm a Brazilian and we recently got servers. Always played with >150ms latency, now it's 10ms. It's like a completely different game. I had 1000kc at Vardorvis and only ~5% of them were perfect kills, now I just did 100kc and like 88 of them were perfect kills (most of the non-perfect kills were because I'm still not used to the low latency ticks and end up clicking too early)It's insane how much of a difference latency makes in this game. Way more than in a game like WoW that has very small ticks.
>>736981909>10msI live next to germany with glass fibre internet and even I dont get numbers this good.
>>736981909yeah, OSRS is basically a rhythm game where you can't see the beats / notes, so latency just ruins everything. congrats on joining the first world if only by proxy.
>250 abby dems>bracelet of slaughterused to be one of the kinoest task, half afking in max melee or prayer gear at the slayer tower wit the occasional whip drops. Meta has probly changed since then
>tasks just releasedHow much did they fuck over clue points, making the relic useless?
>>736982940it's literally the same as last time minus beginner clues because they're region-dependent this time. in fact, they actually increased some clue tasks before people pointed out that they promised to reduce them, and then they reverted them to the same number they were in Raging Echoes.
>>736983156So that Husky faggot lied again? The retard keeps lying, first about the relic and now this and propably a dozen other things. How incompetent do you have to be?
Your new task is to finally save enough gold to buy an expensive item and then immediately stop playing for 6 months upon buying it
I fucking love Slayer, one day I may even greenlog it.
>>736977321I want to do crossbow halberd which would've been: Mory, Wildy, Zeah *but* then I'm locked to my best ranged gear being god d'hide/huey. So I may drop the king's barrage entirely and replace Wildy with Asgarnia, DPS calc shows the Zaryte Crossbow being almost as good, though it doesn't have the freeze :(
>>736982874Slayer master block lists are unique to each slayer master now so it usually ends up being >reroll tasks until you get the money boss task>go kill 60-250 of that boss>throw 50m worth of drops on the GE while you start rolling for the next oneAbyssal demons get you a few hours with the Abyssal Sire now
>>736983486Consider that Huey armor isn't that much worse than Aramdyl even if it looks silly and you don't have to grind out Kree and Nex for it and a ZCB
>>736983486Surely your ranged armor doesn't matter when you're using a super crossbow which always max hits and rolls accuracy twice? Not to mention you have rigour
Does Self inflicted damage activate recoils? Working on the assumptions thorns will be a strict hit taken required effect, but recoils could add up a decent bit if some of the self damage in the tree activates them.
Man I wish we could have sensible osrs threads like this one during leagues instead of whatever schizoid shit is happening on /vg/
>>736983705It's quite the difference due to how good void is, that's the second build. Third is void + zaryte crossbow.
>>736983892is upgraded Masori better than void?
>>736984195If I don't spec more into accuracy, it can be. Then it becomes very dependent on enemy health.
>>736983863i try to make the trannies on /vg/ as miserable as possible during leagues by discussing the game
I'm slowly realizing I don't give a fuck about Kandarin outside of elemental magic, and I can theoretically replace elemental magic's utility and DPS with other regions.I'm definitely going Wildy and Tirannwn, which I feel only really lends itself to powered staves, but that shoehorns me into a raid region. I wonder if the Morytania echo item is any good when it's 1t. It might be possible to do some sort of weird powered staves / thorn build with:>crystal blessing and crystal armor>1t sanguinesti staff>blood fury because thorns counts as melee damage, plus healing from thorns, plus healing from 1t sanguinesti>dragonfire shield from KBDThis leaves the ring slot as the only glaring hole in my equipment.I'd unironically rather do 25 ToB than Barbarian Assault.
>>736974487I think this is going to be the first Leagues I ever play because the rewards actually look cool. Sorry for the older leagues had some of the most dogshit rewards imaginable.
>>736974018Why bother to play these grind games when you could get the whip in an hour in a regular game?
>>736985439because the grind is the fun part. Seeing progress over weeks, months, years is why people like OSRS. In WoW for example, who gives a fuck about that drop you got 6 months ago, its already completely useless because questing gives better gear at that point. A big reason why people play Ironman in OSRS is because progress is even more impactful. That bow you just got? Yeah its still going to be amazing 3 years from now.
>>736985439I like the grind. I also like that the grind has meaning. The whip was released 21 years ago. It is still a relevant, in demand weapon to this very day.
>>736985882Getting frequent rewards > getting something rewarding every 6 monthsIt's highly individual of course, but most of us aren't made to be farmers.
>>736986192Absolutely wrong. You are definitely a serf and were built for farming. Genetically, you were born to farm.
>>736974018I burned my rng from an abby task on my iron recently. I don't even need this shit kek.
>>736986348No man, if what you're saying is true then long form videos would be more popular than short form videos, MMOs would be more popular than comp shooters, Dark Beer more popular than Pilsner. It's not true, instant/frequent gratification wins every time.
>>736986569It is because you are a serf that you don't understand at all what you are saying. You were built to farm and toil the earth for little reward infrequently. That is why instant gratification slaps the shit out of your dopamine receptors. Because most people are the descendants of peasant farmers, this shit one shots them. It's no different from Native Americans encountering alcohol and getting demolished. They want it even more because they have no resistance to it, didn't evolve to survive it.
Redpill me on Runescape leagues as somebody that doesn't play Runescape at all
