Which, in concept, isn't that bad of an idea for the character if it was properly leaned into, but instead James went for the longest time carrying this "I'm not going to acknowledge it" air that soured pretty much any chance of that working out.At the same time, he also should have stopped making Nerd episodes a decade or so ago. His documentary-esque overview videos were always some of his best (e.g., Nintendo Power or Swordquest), and he could have easily transitioned into a voice-based series that touched on retro gaming topics and phenomena without the need for a screen character.

Nostalgia Critic is objectively more bald but his "look" involves a hat so it's not as bad since he can always just put on the Nostalgia Critic outfit (including the hat) and not look so different.

I used to enjoy his stuff very much, he'd talk about infuriating and absurd game mechanics, get a bit angry, say some comically amusing profanity. His dress-up character bit were whatever, but it wasn't in every review.The catchy jingle for the intro was nice, even 'Board James' series with mike were pretty decent.But his modern stuff there's always some random on the couch next to him doing a back and forth conversation and it's not what i subscribed for. Bring back the solo segments, problem is he's done a video on most all the classics, there's monster madness but James only ever has good things to say about the cinematography since that's what he majored in.I remember the controversy when he refused to see the all-female butchered version of ghostbusters, that's when i noticed people really began to turn on a beloved content creator. There probably won't be a next chapter for him, now it's infrequent uploads due to his private family life. Wish him all the best
