How autistic do you have to be to want Link to say nothing in the movie.

>I love this game!
>No not the game I want a movie
>I love this character!
>No not like that change everything about him
Why are normalfag invaders like this? I've never once feigned enjoying a craft beer or television or sports, why do they feel the need to feign enjoying vidya? What do they get out of it?

Cdi and the cartoon mindbroke people into thinking link talking is bad.
When grannies did it it was pretty good.
That said, i do not want him to talk in games. But for movies and other narrative focused projects, i think it's fine.
>>
severely since I always picture wind waker link clearly speaking a couple words/phrases. this is such a non-issue is funny.

you don't want Drive: Sword & Shield edition? what are you, gay?

Not as autistic as you'd have to be to want Link to speak in the movie.

This is something that always bugged me out about "silent protagonists"
Link (and pretty much every silent protagonist) talks in their games, people that say otherwise weren't immersed in the story
>>
>>736984403
He speaks a lot in both botw and totk they just don't show it in text. A silent Link would've been better than the chatbox we're going to get in the movie but Nintendo isn't capable of pulling that off.
>>
>>736984403
A silent protag could be badass though.
>>
>>736984403
He just has to be stoic like literally me
>>
The first half of Wall-E has a grand total of three lines of actual dialogue ("Wall-e", "Eve", and "Directive") and completely establishes the entire plot and both main characters. Road Runner cartoons have zero dialogue and are so comprehensible you can take a 60 year old short to the fucking mongolian steppe and toddlers will get the jokes. Buster Keaton made some of the best comedies ever and there wasn't even sound. A silent protagonist is completely doable it just involves a skilled actor and writers who understand that they aren't just witty one-liner manufacturers and that writing a scene is substantially more important in a visual medium than just writing dialogue.
>>
He gets 1 line and only at the end
Any more and its dogshit

How autistic do you have to be to think the writers working on this shit are capable of writing dialogue that is better than nothing?
Mark my words, he will make Faces of Evil Link look like Aragorn

It should have been animated honestly

>>736984403
He talks in the games (the npcs carry on conversations with him and respond to things he says) so I don't see why he needs to be mute in the movie. Maybe people are just worried they'll make him say dumb things.
>>
>>736986694
He is guaranteed to say stupid shit again
The best way to handle him is not letting any writer get anywhere near him
Besides, do you have ANY faith at all that he isn't getting capeshitted?
>>
>>736984403
I just hope they have a crew that doesn't care and we get comedy gold.

The worst we could get is something dry and typical, i.e., copying LOTR's archived homework
>>
>>736986817
I don't have faith in any aspect of this movie.
>>
I JUST WONDER WHAT GANON IS UP TO
>>
>>736984403
I want Link to talk in the games too. Silent protagonists are dumb.

I want a running joke where a few times throughout the movie Link is about to say something but something always happens to stop him before he's able to

There is a dozen examples of "You explain the situation" in the Zelda series. So yeah he talks in the games and no amount of autism is gonna change that.
>>
>>736986304
You don't have to watch it.
>>
>>736986694
It's such an inane worry, because NPCs already say dumb things, why is Link not saying dumb things too? Hyrule is dumb, dumb things happen all the time.
>my chickens got loose! will you catch my chickens, chicken chaser?
>
>oh good you will
It would be smarter to be able to say
>fuck no I ain't catching no god damn chickens

They should do exactly that in the movie.

I love this movie but I wish we got more characterization out of Silence. I think Kinski steals the show
>>
>>736984403
If he talks then he's literally not Link.
How autistic and retarded do you have to be to want an unfaithful depiction with cringe hollywood dialogue.
One of the most iconic things about Link is that he doesn't talk.

The only way for these movies to avoid being cringe slop is they need to be mainly 'show don't tell'. Like WALL-E.
>>
>>736984613
>Posts Tranime cringe
Link is literally defined by NOT talking.

I never want Link to ever say "I AM THE GREATEST HERO EVER". Are you kidding me?, you socially retarded faggot.
What were you thinking posting that cringe?
>>
>>736984403
It's just a regular thing to want. That's a major part of his character and a plot point in Breath and Echoes. Actually it was a very VERY important plot point in Breath of the Wild as it's why both Zelda and Revali initially didn't like Link. They thought that he thought he was too good for them. Every game now also makes sure to give an explanation for why he doesn't talk. It's part of the character, you can't deny. And it's a branding thing. Nintendo will never let us hear him talk on screen again just like how they will never not make him blonde again.

The dialogue will actually be good in this movie. They got the Jurassic World 1 writer on this. You're still right about most of the other shit you said though.

The Jurrasic World 1 writer under Miyamoto's supervision? I think we're good. There was obvious talent in JW and everything that was shite was clearly placed there by the higher ups. In this case, the higher ups actually want to make something good.

Link being a silent protag would be fine in an 80s fantasy movie where its some mute kid traveling across a mysterious land to fight evil and save the world. Give him a fairy companion if need be. It's not like this Link will reflect the actual canon dialogue options that presents him as a snarky dickhole.
>>
>>736991983
We hear that he talks through the npc conversations. They aren't talking at him. They react to things he tells them. The player just doesn't get to see his part of the conversation. He's not a mute in any of the games' worlds.
>>
>>736984403
I want him to have a Samus moment like she has in Dread. One or two lines. Let the actions speak for themselves.
>>
>>736993829
He would fit well as a The Man With No Name style character with relatively little dialogue.
>>
>>736984403
I don't want a Zelda IRL movie at all, no actor can accurately portray Link or any of the other characters. They should just do an animation movie with ingame graphics.
>>
>>736989894
Including a 3 minute scene where he monologues to gannon about his beliefs and the audience literally just doesn't hear it and sees his reactions
>>
Link's only spoken line should be "I found a mirror under the table." from Zelda II, and it shouldn't be built up to or reacted to after like a big deal. Just completely treat it as a normal scene without breaking pace, never acknowledge it as special, and never have him explicitly talk on-screen before or again.
>>
Everyone knows Links only spoken lines should be the occasional dialogue responses like "yes" and maybe a sentence here or there when spoken to but not by any means the main carrier of dialogue. Newfag casuals will say he should say "Well EXCUUUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS!" Because they aren't aware the cartoon was entirely non canon and in no way matches the game's real tone, fans of the series only parrot that phrase to poke fun at it
>>
>>736984403
Instead of that tape, I volunteer my cock to ensure that cute Link does not talk.
>>
>>736997131
>dialogue responses like "yes"
in the games he's just nods and grunts like "mhhff"
>>
>>736984403
It would be a challenge any actual artist of a director or actor would rise to.

>>736984403
Low IQ: "Why doesn't Zelda say anything in the games? It's 2026, he should have voice acting by now, what the fuck? They should make him talk alot in the movie and that'll make Nintendo finally add voice acting in the games."
Mid IQ: "He shouldn't talk at all, if he says a single word that isn't just HYAAAAH SEYHAAAA, I will literally kill myself."
High IQ: "He should talk, but very little, only when it's appropriate."
>>
Link needs to say his iconic line of へたくそ!

>He should talk, but very little
Why should a character whos most defining trait is not talking, "talk a little"?
>>
>Wanting something different from the typical hollyslop = autism
Grim.
>>
>>736998690
Because you and I know damn well they're not going to have him be silent the whole movie too high brow for them, so him talking only a little is a blessing.
I'm 100% betting he's going to talk too much, enough to be an issue, followed by reviewers defending the choice. Same thing basically happened with the Mario movies (and subsequently the games) where people were mad all the voices were changed only for the reviewers to either ignore the complaints or defend the changes while Martinet got anally fucked out of the dream job he built himself.

That said, Link himself talks, both implied and via player-chosen text boxes, he's just not voice acted for that... outside of Wind Waker where he has a few actual voiced phrases like the "come on!" that I'm sure you just heard in your head as you read this.
Also I get the feeling that if Link says absolutely nothing the whole movie, we'd probably get a repeat of Prime 4 where the devs overcorrected on Samus and made it so that despite 1000x more dialogue in the game compared to the others, Samus just stands there staring when people ask her questions.
>>
>>736999107 (me)
>I'm 100% betting he's going to talk too much, enough to be an issue, followed by reviewers defending the choice.
-and then all future Zelda games will have Link talk regularly.
>>
Honestly I hate the fact that it's live action.
>>
>>736999326
It will be better than Eragon, no worries.
>>
>>736999139
I'm fine with that. Silent Protagonists are a ridiculous, outdated relic and the sooner we're rid of them the better.
