Why are there so few good superhero games?

Good games require competitive devs, which is not so common
And also the companies that are handing out their IP licenses to studios don't put much thought if the studio is competent or not

Because more superpowers don't translate well in vidya without some major restrictions. Flash is too fast. GL would have a limited arsenal. Aquaman is just a brawler out of the water. Diana is AssCreed tier. Superman is where the largest issues arise. Without a game full of set pieces the power fantasy get's shattered instantly.

Spidey and Bats work because they're 90% gadgets

do comics ever end like manga or do they just go on forever? I want to get into comics but it's like, let's say I want to read batman, do I literally have to pick which era is just batman vs the joker or something, knowing basically nothing happens and it continues for 50+ years until batman has a gay son or something?

it cost money for the IP. then you need to have team develop it without the IP holder demanding homo iceman or gay sex robins in everything and destroying the attempt at a good game. then you need time to develop the game which requires investors who will want gay robins and icemans and dlc and monetization and indians doing all the outsourced models.

finally, if you can get through all those hoops with a good game in tact, you could have just made your own IP and owned it and developed a massvie success instead of batshit reloaded revenge of the faggots and then left on the hook with no properties and stuck as 'that one super hero dev'.

yeah deadass the only reason i never got into /co/ shit is the reading orders and this-or-that "run" or "event" seems extremely annoying

compare pic related to someone just saying "oh yeah, just go read Dragon Ball."

It's honestly easier just to headcanon your own cutoff point where you say nah i'm out. Like for example when I started reading Daredevil I dropped it at DD 300 back in the 90's because it felt like a good ending. With Batman it was around the time of No Man's Land. You eventually start to get a feel for these things.

Also agree reading order is the reason i didnt get into comics, anyway HULK SMASH
