Actually it's probably that the company that made CD didn't pay the journo "consulting" fee. Things like "consulting" only work if people who you try to force to pay you suffer when they don't pay. I literally do not give two shits if AI is used or not.

My only problems are:

>3) Shareholders/investors are not going to stop with their "line must go up" BS and will shrink studios into nothingness, firing legitimate game developers and artists who are actually talented and not wasting space

Outside of these immediate concerns, I fully welcome the usage of AI in game development, especially if it means that high quality, big budget AAA games with a lot of attention to detail (like Red Dead Redemption 2) will not take entire generations to release. You guys have to understand that game development is so fucking bloated right now. Halo 3's development only had like 100 people, give or take, while something like the new Marathon had upwards of 1K, if not more. There's too many chefs in the kitchen, and that shit WILL hurt game development and the creative process. We need to go back to having games where they're made by a team of 50-150 people.

It would also democratize game development and we could probably see a new golden age for Indies for game developers who couldn't do certain tasks because they didn't have the resources, money or amount of people.

High budget gaming is done, either way. If big studios slice their staff, it's not the actual talent and visionaries that are gonna stay. It's gonna be all middle managers and code monkeys.

If AI is gonna help game development, it's gonna be at the low budget and indie end, either way. Small studios who can use it to save money and work. Although these are also the ones who'll most likely be reluctant to use it at all, out of fear it might compromise their vision.

Which isn't entirely irrational, mind. I'm perfectly fine with AI being used for coding and troubleshooting. But I'm very skeptical whether it has any place in the actual artistic process. I don't want it used to create art assets and I sure as hell don't want it be used for music or writing. That's where I draw a line.

The only issue I have with it is how much damage the datacenters cause to surrounding ecosystems. One area diverted several smaller creeks to use for water cooling then just discharges the contaminated water downstream when it becomes too hazardous to use as a coolant.

It's fine to use AI in your game but it should be disclosed up front and the price should be way lower. You deserve better.
