My concern about game preservation has shifted from worrying about old games to worrying about present games. In the digital only delivery service model where many of these games don't have physical releases at all, means that we are looking at a future where the legions of indie games simply aren't available anywhere anymore. It's a lost media crisis in the making. In twenty years, where are you going to be able to buy the games in the picture? I think I'll buy a USB drive and start backing up all the GoG games I can but not every developer releases on there.
>>736992512Those have a moderate amount of reviews/buyers so they'll probably around the open sea for a while at the very least
>>736992512>a future where the legions of indie games simply aren't available anywhere anymore.Nothing of value would be lost. If an indie game doesn't get enough players to have people preserving them, then they weren't worth preserving in the first place.I say this as someone who has an active and vested interest in the preservation of actual rare and obscure games from the Japanese hobbyist dev scene. Now stop pretending this is anything but some thinly-veiled advertising/shilling thread for indie garbage.
>>736993616Your prejudice blinds you.
if steam and gog die then it'll just be like it is for physical only games from 20 years ago, you can't buy them so you have to pirate them
>>736992512>House of Negrosis
Steam is forever
>>736993616Dumb little freak.
If you can pirate something, it's not lost media.
>>736994760okay go pirate these games. let me know when you've got them all.
>>736992512>I think I'll buy a USB drive and start backing upif you haven't been doing that for at least 10 years you ain't gonna make it
>>736992512>In the digital only delivery service model where many of these games don't have physical releases at all, means that we are looking at a future where the legions of indie games simply aren't available anywhere anymore.>indieYou do realize that it's AAA slop most likely to be delisted to do expiration of licensed media, right? Hosting your game on Steam only requires initial fee and percentage of sales, then you can host it there indefinitely as long as Steam exists. And even if something gets delisted it only gets delisted from store page, people who already owned game don't lose access to it.>I think I'll buy a USB drive and start backing up all the GoG games I can but not every developer releases on there. You stupid retarded nigger if you really care about preservation and not just being larping piece of shit you should've bought 3 4 TiB or 6 TiB drives and put them into RAID 5, that would be enough to preserve all your indie shit for eternity.
>>736995047anon steam drm is insanely easy to crack, do it yourself
>>736992512Yup, that's the plan - get yourself a few petabytes & fill em up with setups & isos. You can't trust anything or anyone these days, make yourself an Ark.Jews already killed basedmods, thank fuck we managed to save some of its treasures.
>>736995047Just create a thread for each of them on csrin
