Have you ever played a game with high latency (>150ms)? Would you say this created trauma and discouraged the experience, since it takes a long time for your actions to go through?

I dropped RDR2, GTA V and many other hyped 3D games because of latency. It wasn't exactly the same as input lag but the huge delay between your joystick action and your character moving made me drop the games. Just try GTA SA or Bully to compare and you'll notice the difference immediately

That's why /fur/ is probably a good idea. /trash/ is too full of obsessively monitored general threads for people who insist they're not actually furries, and less obsessively monitored threads for people with weird and gross fetishes.
Plus a surprising number of other threads which have no real reason not to be on other boards.

It would be nice if /trash/ was slow enough that it was reasonable for good quality threads that actually drift off topic to survive by being moved there.

8 years old me played the earliest Battlefield games with trash net and an even worse PC, 100 ping was the bare minimum, but usually it was closer to 200, and 30 FPS was the maximum. With barely any English knowledge to look things up, and zero knowledge of how computers actually worked, I tought like half of the players were cheating because no matter how much I shot them they wouldn't die.

That shit traumatized me enough to make me dislike the multiplayer FPS genre for like.

And it turns out, Battlefield being Battlefield, especially in the Punkbuster days, half of the players were indeed hacking.

I played multiple iterations of TDM and CTF game modes competitively from Quake1 to Quake3 on 56k dialup at around 200ms or higher, including playing the original Netquake which had no movement prediction at all

Trauma didn't exist in the 90s, getting trauma from playing videogames is a modern homosexual invention. Playing on high latency in the 90s taught you how networks worked and made you better at prediction and visualisation because you had to compensate for it manually
