This is the only game where I regret not choosing the story only mode. The gamepay was horrible. The story was ok at best. Also you can keep it if yoi bought it but it's a shit game.

Ratings and movie sales were spiraling into the toilet during Enterprise to the point that Activision sued and won on the grounds that the brand had been so mismanaged that they couldn't make a profit on Trek games anymore, then the JJ reboot made megabucks which means every retarded exec thinks they need to copy the JJ model of flashy overdesigned bullshit with no soul.

really weird people were in charge, not just Kurtzmann, either
the vibe for like a decade has been that the IP is being held hostage, just go watch the old interviews they did for Picard - it's like a corporate sanitzation but... weird, like some fujoshi is right behind the cast saying if they don't kiss by the end she's gonna kill herself or some shit
>>
>>737008326
There are no good reasons why this game is getting delisted. Only legal ones.
>>
>>737009021
"First two seasons suck" for DS9 was always in hindsight once the Dominion arc kicked off. At the time they were solid, partly because they tossed in all the good ideas they originally came up with for TNG while letting TNG have the dregs for season 7.

Every company and service that exists will die. Only question is when. Valve will die, Google will die, Apple and Microsoft will die. Only an idiot doesn't make plans for when they go away.

Star trek is dead just accepted and buy the older titles on dvd so that you can watch them whenver you want
>>
>>737009684
Why make plans when you will be long dead before any of them?
>>
>>737008963
They couldn't make "good" star trek even if they wanted to. TOS and TNG writing teams had a bunch of veteran sci fi writers with decades of experience. Who's gonna do that now? Patrick Tomlinson?

The nepobaby scourge in the entertainment industry has created a competency crisis that gets worse every time there's a writers strike and more of the last remaining veterans retire
>>
>>737009021
DS9 season 1 and 2 were airing at the same time as TNG Season 6 and 7.
DS9 has a ROUGH start compared to that.
Every episode in Season 1 or 2 is a coinflip between good and bad. From season 3 on, they dedicate more time to it because TNG is over and the quality goes WAY up.

Compare this to Voyager which has a SUPER strong first season and slowly starts to shit the bed over time.

Limited time makes the license cheaper, so they plan on getting enough sales at launch to make a profit. It was never intended to be good, just a cheap buck.
>>
>>737008326
Was it good?
>>
>>737008963
For the same reason they killed Star Wars. They don't want the previous fanbase of those universes to exist because they don't want their primary demographic to have any easy ways to unite.

Tjis is WHY it was killed fyi.

They want to ruin it all.
>>
>>737008326
I'm glad I bought it. They could've done without the TRICORDER 6 KLINGON SCROTES minigames but it was a fun enough little adventure
>>
>>737013297
Ah yes, like the pro-white and pro-fascist Trek of the old days.
>>
>>737009562
It had a 1 year exclusivity deal with Epic. I've been noticing more developers/publishers delisting their games in short time frames to boost their games. The games generally are dogshit and don't sell well so they buy a short license and they'll make more money than the game's lifetime sales on FOMO because of retards that need delisted games. Limited Run Games does this a lot. The developers for this Star Trek game are practically jewish in that they waited until after a 80% sale to announce it was being delisted.

>released with zero graphics options
>made my crappy old GPU jump to 100% usage immediately with graphics that just did not deserve that sort of strain
>added graphics options instead of properly optimising the thing, so you could use slightly less GPU in exchange for making the game look even worse
The real crime was it being a big wordy dialogue choices matter game with absolutely no way to skip cutscenes OR dialogue. If you wanted to replay any part of it you had to sit through it all to completion all over again.

I wanted to like it and give it a fair go but the game did not want me to play it.
>>
>store stops selling game
why would I care again

TNG got good when Riker grew a beard
DS9 got good when Sisko shaved his head
Voyager got good when Harry Kim scores Harry Kim never scored

I read a comic based on this today. I didn't understand the intro blurb. It was very bad. Do they get to say "shit" in the show like they do in the comic?
>>
>>737008926
yeah if steam would actually go kaput and no other company would buy it means there's way bigger things to worry about than videogames
>>
>>737008702
Okay so I have 20-30 years.
>>
>>737014950
Then why even make it Star Trek? Why can't they just make an original series that no one will watch instead?
>>
Why didnt you buy it last week when it was discounted?
>>
>>737021225
Because nobody wants to play this piece of shit. If it was actually a good game they would've renewed the license since it would still be selling.
>>
>>737009562
I'm sure some docs spilt about how the terms of Star Trek licences are incredibly limited and granular as to what you can have
I'd assume devs paid for bare minimum knowing all the sales would be in the first few years.

WTF, right after they pulled Bridge Commander off Steam, too! (Again.)

I really hope the current rights holders can clear these issues up, and return the games properly on Steam.

How was I supposed to know! Although I played the game when it was new, on Epic, I was thinking about getting on Steam, too, if the price was ever right. How much did it go for?

Seem like a fair move. Account wide unlock on Preferential Targeting and Beam Overload extender is nice to have. They kind of fuck over the vulcan ship by making a Sci Destroyer, sadly.

I'm guessing it won't be long before the rest of the Star Trek games get pulled too then. Very dead franchise, Paramount and Alex Kurtzman have utterly obliterated it. Worse than what Disney has done to Star Wars at this point.
>>
>>737028309
That is a possibility, sadly. But on the other hand, they could also pull a kind of Warhammer Classics stunt, and bring them all back.

It really depends on how the rightsholders start shaping up the future of Star Trek. We'll likely get more news about it very soon.
>>
>>737027840
Yeah when a licensed game is on a deep sale I would pick it up in the future because more than likely its going to be delisted
