Finished Kurohyou yesterday and it was awesomeShould I play Kurohyou 2 or instead try Def Jam Vendetta by the same devs first since the gameplay was its strongest quality imo?
>>737009040>Def Jam Vendetta by the same devswait what
>>737009260Despite being published by EA the first two Def Jams were made by a Japanese studio known as AKI Corporation who then renamed themselves to Syn SophiaWhile RGG were involved with this they weren't the actual devs for it, it was Syn Sophia using the same engine as Def Jam so they have similaritiesI'm asking because I want to know which game is more mechanically complex the first two Def Jams or Kurohyou 2? Since even thought Kurohyou 2 came after the first two are console games rather than portable
Play WCW vs. the World
THERE'S A HOLE IN THE BUCKET
>>737009040Try Fight for NY if you're going to play a Def Jam game as it's a graphical upgrade and has better gameplay. With that said Kurohyou 2 is good. However, the mobs tend to be more aggressive/ counter happy.
test
>>737009040>Finished Kurohyou yesterday and it was awesomeI finished them both last week.it was fucking great ride. However I do think kuryoh 2 is a step back in my ways but it is still very fun.>Should I play Kurohyou 2 You should absolutely play the second game but the gameplay and a.i change a little bit.here's what I noticed>styles can be upgraded much further but it is also quite the grind>you also cant use money to upgrade stats anymore, only to unlock passive buff like 20% punch damage increase and etc>grabs are usually much weaker>enemies rush at you whenever you pick a weapon, try doing so only when they are far away or knocked down.>some bosses have unusually high Iframes during their special animations and some take long as fuck to transition from that>without spolling too much the bomb section is the worst section in the game and fucking moronic in it's entirety, easily the lowest point of the game>there are two sections in the game you will need to change your settings in the emulator to lower the frame rate else they are impossible to complete. they are both about you running away from enemies you can check what to do here https://youtu.be/4kxXKl73K3c>some minigames like the one of the gambling ones and some of the hostesss secondary missions have no translation= or straight up don't workALso remember to start the second game with a complete save file of the first one to unlock the fighting style of the two last bosses of the first game. they have no weakness but they also got no advantages either, they are there mostly for flavor but it is cool.>or instead try Def Jam Vendetta by the same devs first since the gameplay was its strongest quality imo?vendetta is not that good. got straight into def jam fight for new York. it is where most of the kurohyou move sets come from.
>>737013339I also HIGHLY recommend you to play Yakuza 1 and 2 restored. You can find more information about it here:https://youtu.be/YXsiu9PUbxMhttps://youtu.be/h-29bSTUN-AIn short, just get an American rom from both games, download the program and the patch, let follow the easy as fuck instructions for the patch to be applied and now you are able to play Yakuza ps2 games with japanese voice acting and text that is much closer to what they are actually saying in cutscenes.PS: WTF is going on in this site that is taking so fucking long to post anything?
>>737013339You need two saves, not just the clear save. The clear save (The one that converts into NG+/PA on load) only unlocks the final boss style. A normal save unlocks Tenma's style. If you only relied on a single save and clear saved onto it you would need to start a new playthrough just to make a standalone save, and if you loaded the clear save and made a locked PA or NG+ save you'd have to clear the game again to make a new clear save.
>>737014171Yeah, this.
>>737014171Yeah, this.Just have multiple saves and don't or ride the game clear one with new game plus
>>737012581>>737013339>>737013385>>737014171Thank you very much! I guess I'll play Fight For New York and then Kurohyou 2For Fight For New York is it recommended the console version or the PSP version? I heard that the PSP version has some sidegrades due to releasing later>>some minigames like the one of the gambling ones and some of the hostesss secondary missions have no translation= or straight up don't work I'll manage, for the 5 untraslated hostesses quests I found a japanese redeaction and I mtl'd to understand it as I played it
>>737015558Hostesses aren't even necessary for Gaia/Chaos anyway, they're just for 100%.
>>737015558never played the psp version o def jam so idk what is different. the ps2 version is pretty great though.
>>737012339I preferred when I thought they said "there's a hole in your pocket"MONEY OR GOD
https://youtu.be/rkKJe5-2yBAhttps://youtu.be/HVlIjNoPdsAthe main themes were fucking great. However I did not like how they changed the voice actor in the second game. First game he sounded like a brat learning to grow up. second game he sounds too old even though the timeline has progressed a year.
>>737016463Yeah but I liked the game that much that I tried completing them, ultimately I was disappointed since I legitimately didn't like any of the hostesses besides the postgame one. I'm kinda worried about not being able to use money to upgrade in 2, I didn't fully upgrade until just before the final battle, I ultimately ended up beating Gaia without being fully upgraded and without the Extreme Man style but I swear the fight took me like 40 uninterrupted minutes with how tanky he was. But I think the reason I didn't find Kurohyou that grindy while I was playing is because I became filthy rich in chapter 4 due to playing a lot of speed in the casino and I didn't lose my money until like chapter 7, but the guy will probably be fun regardless so I probably won't mind it.I wish the Syn Sophia guys were still making action games rather than just making fashion games.
>>737016665Yeah for the second they went with the actor from the live-action adaptation, I guess because it was mildly successfulHonestly it's kinda weird how the spin-off psp game that RGG Studios seemingly refuses to accept its existence even going as far as saying that they have 0 plans to do a re-release, remaster or remake is the one that ended up getting a live-action and manga
>>737016758i think the original yakuza game got a movie adaptation as well
>>737016675Not requiring money is a good thing because in BP1 it was a miserable affair to get money in any reasonably quick manner. It was either savescum/savestate poker and pray you won high value pots, spend hours at the ranking battles, or nothing. I say this as someone who has Item Maniac, it is truly a miserable experience. In BP2 money can be gained via roulette like in 1 and 2 because it lets you bet overlaps so it's a 1/3 chance to get 144,000 chips for like a 30k investment. Even if you don't do that mahjong is bugged so anything you buy with tags is refunded to you in tags if you go to Ebisu and go back to the mahjong parlor meaning you just spend ¥100,000 on tags, buy anything from the exchange, walk five feet, sell it, and then return to the parlor you will have all your tags back because of the bug and can just reinvest what you got from selling the exchange item in Ebisu to the parlor for more tags and repeat until you max out your money. With BP2 you just grind high tier enemies (Anyone wearing a flashy outfit that you bump into in the overworld). They always give roughly 1000 to 1400 EXP per battle. If you're a tier 5 style then you need roughly 40k EXP in total to get all five level ups, if you're a tier 2 style (Mostly the Extreme ones) you need about 28k if I remember right. You need to max them all out for Extreme Man. There's also a self-taught style but it's bad compared to EM even though it has five equip slots.>I ultimately ended up beating Gaia without being fully upgraded and without the Extreme Man style but I swear the fight took me like 40 uninterrupted minutes with how tanky he was. That's primarily because he's balanced around Extreme Man, being 50 in everything, and spamming red Heat on him. I did him at 30 in everything and with Extreme Man and it still took eight minutes of nonstop grabbing and red Heat on Hard. Chaos is properly balanced for someone at 30, he's significantly easier and feels like a normal Amon fight.
>>737012339>>737016565I still can't believe "RAPE ME NOW" is part of the actual lyrics.
>>737016675Kurohyou really isn't a grindy game at all. You can go through the main story, the gang sidestory and that street tournament just fine by playing normally. Same applies to 2.
>>737016905Not OP but I really wanted to thank you for posting picrel https://gofile.io/d/rZA9S4 on another thread, it helped me a lot for my first playthrough of the gameIt seems that 4chan and catbox are having issues because I cannot upload images on either
>>737017104KWAB
>>737017331That's what it's there for. I'm not good at making pretty content but I just want to help people out. Here's BP2 if you want it.
>>737017485Oh wow, I misremembered, it was the two final bosses for the clear data, Tenma was a password one.
just letting you guys know that there are fan translations for these games and they were pretty decent aside from a few zoomer lingo here and there.
>>737009040Kurohyou 2 is pretty good and alot harder then the first game. You can no longer grab to win and normal npcs can use heat moves. It sadly gutted alot of the fighting styles, making them alot weaker, and the AI gets annoyingly hard by the end. The gameplay is a bit snappier and the boss fights are better. The cool part if you finished one, is you get to use Tatsuya dad and final boss of the first game, fighting style at the beginning.
The TV series of this is awesome.
>>737009040I really wasn't ready for the combat of this game being so tight, I love the mainline series and definitely prefer their stories but I unironically prefer the combat of the Kurohyou duology>>737017902>>737017814Does anyone know what's happening with 4chan? I assume your post got posted twice due to the whole uploading issues
>>737017692Im waiting for Kurohyou english patch 2.0
>>737018007>Does anyone know what's happening with 4chan? I assume your post got posted twice due to the whole uploading issuesno idea. some crap about the captcha and the api.i just post and hope it gets trough.
>>737017967It's been a while but didn't Nagoshi and the rest of the RGG devs play the villains of the show? Also Sid from Kamen Rider Gaim which incidentally had an OP by Shonan no Kaze
>>737018007The site went down for like an hour yesterday morning US time (Like 2am-ish) and ever since then the captcha's been borked, though we couldn't even load the captchas until maybe 15-20 hours ago with any consistency. Took like 1-2 minutes just for a captcha to potentially load and then another half a minute to a minute to post. Now it's just broken on image posts really where you have to retry multiple times. The captchas load instantly but actually posting leads to it erroring out with the post going through. I have to manually tick my posts as (You) in 4chan XT because it doesn't notice I made them even though it posted them.>>737018095Yeah, Nagoshi and Sid were both in it. It's also completely different from the games, Tatsuya is barely an asshole in it and acts significantly kinder than he did in the first game.
are there any other yakuza like games? Ones not made by the yakuza devs I mean.
>>737018702The games by the dev yeo are basically a 2D reimagining of YakuzaThe Way of the Samurai is kinda similar to YakuzaWish I could upload images but it's failing every time for me
Seems like 4chan is fixed now on every board but /v/, also suspiciously all the threads about these glitches on /g/ got deleted the instant it was fixed>>737018702Kenka Bancho for the 3ds
>>737019181>Kenka Banchoi think they have a million games but only ONE actually localized.
>>737018702Akiba's Trip, Way of the Samurai, and 憂世ノ志士 (By the WotS guys) are pretty much the extent of it.
