You can't quickly one hand it like you would a 3DS or vita, you have to awkwardly put it down or hold it in the middle (with the risk of damaging the screen). It really isn't built for dynamic situations with a lot of people around. With a true handheld you can simply and intuitively take one hand off the device to do what you need to do without having to think about adjusting the grip of the other hand.
