I never played odyssey because I hate that you can jump and then in the air you can like throw your hat, dive to the hat, jump off the hat and the dive again or some stupid bullshit. I also saw that at some point Pauline starts singing like it's an animated Disney movie and then never looked into it again. Apparently DKB is the same shit, it's like a frozen musical.

Mario has to collect paper money by doing odd jobs. He then spends these to unlock sex, but it’s really expensive. He can also spend on fentanyl, and comes with a huge buff that makes Mario do more dps during his work. Mario’s in a constant state of joy in this newest Nintendo release, Mario’s big adventure, starring Will Smith as Mario’s voice actor. Bowserberg Starstiene will be so upset at Mario for not paying his bills on time and will send his hired goons to shake down Mario. If he gets caught he losses everything.

SUPER MARIO WONDERLAND
OVERVIEW

Super Mario Wonderland is a 3D action-adventure platformer game released for the Nintendo Switch on March 18, 2021, as part of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. This title was released on the same day as the opening of Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan. It is a follow-up to the 2017 game Super Mario Odyssey, the seventeenth title in the Super Mario series, and the eighth mainline 3D Mario platformer. The game builds upon the previous installment, while incorporating new elements from the Bowser’s Fury campaign of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. In this game, Mario and Cappy explore a theme-park celebrating the history of the Mario franchise.

This game supports local wireless and online play with up to four players. The game is also compatible with amiibo, and it is the second Mario title to receive a unique line of blind-packaged amiibo cards, following Mario Sports Superstars. Additionally, the game supports the Super Nintendo World-exclusive Power-Up Band.

SUPER MARIO WONDERLAND
STORY

At a festive event, Mario and his friends are celebrating the opening of their new theme park, Wonderland. Suddenly, Bowser and his minions pop out of several Star Cards floating from above and wreak havoc on the celebration. Bowser uses his Magic Guitar to trap Mario and his friends in Star Cards before scattering them across Wonderland.

Mario captures his way out of the Star Card with Cappy’s help, and they realize that they have ended up on an airship. The airship belongs to The Fangsters, a circus animal rock band Bowser hired to plan the cryptic “Bowser Spectacular.” After defeating their lead guitarist, Leo, Mario and Cappy fall off the airship into Wonderland.

Mario and Cappy explore the themed worlds of Wonderland and free Donkey Kong, Daisy, Waluigi, and Yoshi by collecting their Star Cards. Once Mario and Cappy collect 25 Star Cards, they can access Bowser Jr. Land, where they learn that Bowser plans to brainwash everyone into permanently obeying him at the Bowser Spectacular. After defeating Bowser Jr. on the Wonderland Express, Mario and Cappy explore the back half of Wonderland and free Luigi, Toad, Peach, Wario, and Rosalina from their Star Cards. The Fangsters challenge Mario and Cappy one last time from their giant mech, the Mecha-Fang.

After defeating the Mecha-Fang, rescuing Mario’s friends, and collecting 100 Star Cards, Mario and Cappy can sneak into Bowser Land on the night of the Bowser Spectacular and face the Koopa King, who wields his Magic Guitar in battle. Mario uses the Magic Guitar to defeat Bowser and undo all his bad magic. As Mario and his friends celebrate their victory, Mario notices Bowser sulking and invites him on-stage for the curtain call. The crowd cheers and everyone takes a bow as the curtains close.

During the credits, a hand-drawn animated sequence depicts Mario and Bowser enjoying the rides of Wonderland together.

SUPER MARIO WONDERLAND
GAMEPLAY

The game plays like an expanded take on Bowser's Fury. You explore a massive open-world amusement park that is active during the day and mysterious during the night.

Rides and attractions take the place of normal levels. Some of them are really large and resemble Mario 64-type levels. Others are really small and feel more like 3D World levels. You'll find space-age laser tag levels, spooky haunted attractions, and even a water park with a water slide!

You collect Star Cards. Star Cards can be used to unlock the biggest and coolest parts of the park... if you can find them! You need a certain number of Star Cards to access new rides. Bowser's laid out all kinds of dastardly traps and has made navigating the park difficult.

Every time you restore a ride, Mario can sit back, relax, and simply enjoy walking around the park. He can talk to friendly NPCs, spend coins on carnival games and gift shop souvenirs, and just have a good time! Characters from all across Mario's history will also make surprise visits... snap a picture and make the visit worthwhile!

At night, there are different enemies and NPCs. The park never closes. This time Bowser and his goons rock the look of a punkish theater troupe. They wreak havoc on the park by doing things like spraying graffiti and waiting under streetlights for Mario.

Certain attractions become slightly more dangerous at night: they might run a bit faster or even host exclusive bosses. Fixing the ride will ultimately make the ride safer and prettier at night.

SUPER MARIO WONDERLAND
ATTRACTIONS

Wonderland consists of two main regions, each represented by a Train Station. Both regions contain six major attractions in varying states of disrepair. Mario fixes attractions by collecting Star Cards, and fully restores them by completing all five of their story missions. When this occurs, the lights on the front gates of that attraction will shine. Fully restoring an attraction makes level navigation safer while lowering the difficulty of certain objectives.

There are four hundred Star Cards in the campaign, but some are only obtained after completing the main story. Three hundred Star Cards can be earned from the twenty-five different missions in each of the twelve major attractions. Each attraction contains:

- Five story missions, a hybrid of linear and open objectives unlocked in a set order.
- Five ride missions, which consist of linear obstacle courses or unique minigames.
- Ten world missions, which resemble the open objectives of previous 3D Mario games.
- Five post-game missions, harder challenges unlocked after defeating Bowser.

Wonderland has one hundred exclusive Star Cards: fifty Star Cards earned from miscellaneous objectives, and an additional fifty Star Cards earned from unique achievements that appear after completing the main story. One hundred Star Cards are required to access Bowser Land and beat the game.

The table below provides overviews for the twelve attractions listed in the game and their corresponding story missions. The descriptions come from the in-game Brochure.

These are great, I’m going to tell kojima we’ve got some competition in the writing sphere of Mario game development haha. I just recieved a call from bill gates, he saw these posts you just made and his eyes lit up with green (the color of something he adores). He suggested an adaption, he said he going to credit you and you’ll get your name in the credits plus a huge discount on the game. And of course you’ll be paid a sum of money, probably about $50 million dollars. Bill gates doesn’t just throw money away, I’m on the phone with him right now and he’s already sent a car to your house to deliver your official mentions.

SUPER MARIO WONDERLAND
DEVELOPMENT (1)

Development of Super Mario Wonderland started after Super Mario Odyssey, and was simultaneously developed with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. According to game director Kenta Motokura, the team wanted to find a way to evolve the Bowser’s Fury concept and combine “casual” and “core” Super Mario titles into a single open-world environment. One prototype took place in a massive castle maze divided into various challenges and obstacle courses that looped back into each other. Another prototype equipped Mario with a toolbox that would enhance his movement. Initially, the game had a stronger focus on using power-ups to solve puzzles.

The developers settled on a theme park setting, which provided a contextual explanation for linear obstacle courses and open sandboxes to co-exist. Real-life theme parks such as Disneyland inspired various elements of Super Mario Wonderland. Like Super Mario Odyssey, the attractions of Super Mario Wonderland draw inspiration from real-world locales and art movements. Using theme park tours as a spiritual template, the level designers created attractions with spontaneous level progression in mind. They prioritized the ability to interactively “expand” levels by creating or dismantling platforms.

Unlike Super Mario Odyssey, the Super Mario Wonderland team targeted core audiences. Subtle tweaks to Mario’s movement options (such as the ability to long jump directly into a wall jump) reward core players without alienating casual players. The “restoration” system came from the need to create an organic difficulty modifier. Casual players benefit from completing the story missions and lowering the difficulty of key objectives. Core players are free to challenge themselves with the difficult versions of those same objectives. Shigeru Miyamoto revealed in an interview that “freedom of play” was an oft-repeated mantra throughout development.
>>
>>737027757
SUPER MARIO WONDERLAND
DEVELOPMENT (2)

During development, the staff placed a stronger emphasis on “variety.” They chose to address criticisms regarding Super Mario Odyssey’s overuse of repeated or non-challenging objectives. Most of the returning content from Super Mario Odyssey is modified in some way. Super Mario Wonderland allowed the staff to revive discarded concepts from previous Mario games.

The primary theme of Super Mario Wonderland is “entertainment.” To push the surrealistic elements of the game, the developers researched classical cinema and animation. The illustrations of Shigehisa Nakahue formed the basis of Super Mario Wonderland’s hand-drawn animated sequences. Similar to the realistic Metro Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey, the cartoonish Mario Land became the promotional centerpiece of Super Mario Wonderland. In addition to regular design suggestions from key Nintendo staff members, Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri provided feedback for some of Super Mario Wonderland’s story elements.

Mahito Yokota returns as the lead composer, with additional songs written by Koji Kondo, Motoi Sakuraba, and Naoto Kubo. The Mario Wonderland Band performed an orchestral score consisting of various musical genres and styles. Notable styles include soul, synth-wave, and samba music. In addition to instrumental tracks, Super Mario Wonderland features two vocal tracks. “The Wonderland Shuffle” is a dixieland jazz number sung by Stanley the Bugman and Foreman Spike, both reimagined as a vaudeville comedy duo. “Minus World” is a glam-metal musical number sung by The Fangsters at the Bowser Spectacular. Lead producer Yoshiaki Koizumi explained the core concept of “Minus World” in an interview:

“Previous Mario titles have touched upon the attention-seeking aspects of Bowser’s personality. With “Minus World,” we had the unique opportunity to offer players a high-energy interpretation of Bowser’s worldview.”

BOSSES (1)

Mr. Schnozz
DK Land
Mr. Schnozz is a cranky proboscis monkey that attacks by trying to step on Mario. To defeat him, Mario must capture a Monty Mole, burrow underground, and pop out of the ground to hit Mr. Schnozz’s nose. After each hit, Mr. Schnozz will charge at Mario.

Chickra
Daisy Land
Chickra is a fiery phoenix that attacks by swooping down towards Mario. To defeat her, Mario must capture a Cobrat, pull one of Chickra’s tail feathers, and release to launch her into the arena walls. After each hit, Chickra will cough up fireballs.

Ray-Grande
Yoshi Land
Ray-Grande is a bioluminescent Maw-Ray that attacks by shooting bubbles at Mario. To defeat it, Mario must capture a Dolphin, fire a bubble into Ray-Grande’s mouth to stun it, and fire shots in rapid succession. After each hit, Ray-Grande will dig underground and burst from the floor and ceiling.

Bowser Jr.
Bowser Jr. Land
Bowser Jr. steals Cappy and hops aboard the Wonderland Express. To defeat him, Mario must press a Ground Pound Switch, grab a Bob-omb from the Bob-omb Dispenser, and throw it at Bowser Jr. After each hit, Bowser Jr. will spin in his shell and create a trail of goop.

There's only really time, and beyond immediate time dilation, unless we're actually getting a whole timeline of different worlds, the mechanic's pretty poor.

That said it would be cool if there were a whole bunch of different locations and you could just jump to their samurai or medieval or dinosaur times or future times or whatever for platforms and puzzles.

BOSSES (2)

Whispretta
Luigi Land
Whispretta is a lantern yokai that attacks by flashing spotlights that can turn Mario into stone. To defeat it, Mario must capture a Boo, phase through Whispretta’s cage-like body, and turn solid to break its inner core. After each hit, Whispretta will slam the ground and generate a circular stream of poison.

Honeymaargh
Peach Land
Honeymaargh is a honey Magmaargh that attacks by spitting molten honey at Mario. To defeat it, Mario must capture a Ty-Foo, blow off Honeymaargh’s outer layer of honey to expose its weak point, and launch it into the arena walls. After each hit, Honeymaargh will tilt the arena and produce waves of honey.

Poker Face
Wario Land
Poker Face is a stone cowboy skull that attacks by trying to crush Mario with his fists. To defeat him, Mario must capture a Coin Coffer and spit coins into the coin slots on his palms. This will activate the slot machine on his hat. By matching three slots, Poker Face grins and gives Mario a chance to spit coins at his gold teeth. After each hit, Poker Face will make finger guns and fire lasers at Mario.

Mecha-Fang
Rosalina Land
The Mecha-Fang is a giant mecha piloted by The Fangsters that attacks by punching and shooting fireworks at Mario. To defeat it, Mario must capture Mecha-Mario, punch the Mecha-Fang until its head opens up, and break the Fangster-containing dome. After each hit, the Mecha-Fang will fly into the sky and chase after Mario.

Big Top Bowser
Bowser Land
Bowser wields a Magic Guitar that he uses to fire guitar waves at Mario. To defeat Bowser, Mario must throw Cappy at one of Bowser’s guitar waves to knock the Magic Guitar into the stage rafters. Then, Mario must climb a series of platforms to reach Bowser's Magic Guitar, and upon collecting it, use the Magic Guitar to fire a series of consecutive guitar waves at Bowser. After each hit, Bowser will breathe fire in a large circle.

>>737028117
It would be neat if each collectable slowly restored Mario to his normal size over the course of the game. He starts out the size of a cell and slowly grows until he's back to normal.
>>
>>737025083
this, honestly. Nintendo would love to yap about how intelligently they got the NPCs to act, with them following you even if you do weird and technical maneuvers (for the most part) and being able to figure out when you're a little stuck and show you where you need to go. Having an entire cast walking around organically alongside the player and you getting them to do what you want without really trying, like walking towards a gap, peach "notices", runs towards the middle of the gap and raising her hands so you can use her as a platform to bridge it, or something. And being able to select both who you want to play as and who you're taking with you. Plus multiplayer, which they seem to want to push using the groomer camera. Just have some sort of contrived gimmick about the different characters being linked and having to move in tandem and they'd be all over that.
>>
>>737023329
just make a real mario 64 sequel instead of the collectathon slop that was odyssey too bad that will never happen because they MUST shoe horn some shitty gimmick into every new 3d mario instead of improving upon an already perfect formula.

I always thought a winter-themed sequel to Sunshine would be cool, take what Sunshine did for water levels and make ice levels that are fun to navigate
>>
>>737028340
something like it would start off as simple shit like the games never evolved past Donkey Kong and its classic mario using the hammer as a core movement tool on levels that are just the rickety construction sites, and its still visually the classic arcade artstyle
middle of the game would be some more drastic shit like mario got a dumb edgy reboot like bomberman and he's just got a fucking gun and everything is a faux photorealistic look
final area is SEGAland as you've stepped into the timeline nintendo lost the console war and mario's moveset is following a mock evolution of all the shit Sonic got over the years like rail grind shoes or wisp powers
>>
>>737028491
A game about using Mario's body to enhance his moveset would be pretty cool, almost like a full expansion of the Mario head from SM64
>bigger shoes = higher jump
>bigger ears = flight
>bigger hands = better attack

>>
>>737023329
I want them to go back to 3D Land & 3D World style gameplay and level design. Ditch the collectathon bullshit and just focus on pure objective-based platforming. Only thing I would incorporate from the other 3D Marios is have a hub world like 64/Sunshine/Galaxy instead of the generic level select map. It should have the gameplay of 3D Land/World but with the cohesive sense-of-place that a hub world brings. I don't really care what the actual setting is, could be anything.

I always preferred 3D World but I admit I'm probably in a minority. As I mentioned in my post, I feel like the only real issue with it was that it was just a random collection of levels with no through-line to the setting, it lacked the consistent sense-of-place that 64 & Sunshine had. If they could make a game with the gameplay of 3D World but a setting as strong as the other games, I think people would realize that's what they were really missing and 3D Mario doesn't need open levels.

Although if I had to guess based on the direction of Odyssey and Bowser's Fury, they will probably lean even further into open concept level design. Which isn't my preference but I think it's what the people want. Oh well.
>>
>>737030629
Very good point, I see where you're coming from. I do like the tighter level design of those games, although I also think the open 3D Mario games are way more approachable for younger kids than the moment-to-moment games because they don't have a time limit. If you removed lives and the time limit from 3D World then that formula would be perfect for young kids

Give Mario a boost button. Since he's gonna be moving super fast we're gonna have to make the stages long and hallway like. Jumping on enemies is a lot harder in 3D so he's gonna need an ability to home in on enemies. You could probably do some cool lock on chains over bottomless pits

That's just 3D World

Mario has a sword, he does jumps and backflips, he can throw this sword to stick it on objects and bounce off of

he can swing this sword at enemies to defeat them, he can flip behind enemies to hit them in their weakpoint, there's collectibles, like 120 of them, and defeating enemies powers up Mario and the sword, at maximum power Mario can grow 2 stories tall and become invincible for 20 seconds.

Return to Super Mario 64 type game, but more like a heavily expanded Castle and surrounding areas with zones that all loop up and connect to each other just as SM64 did, but on a way more Dark Souls 1 type level.

There are bosses and mini bosses all over the place in rooms guarding doors that lead to paintings etc.

Able to jump from within paintings to other paintings if there's secret shortcuts.

Vast array of physicality and movements you can perform, SM64 on steroids, mario has combos and different aerials and attacks and inputs.

You have a ring of special maintenance keys that all are cute little characters you unlock and attach to you, they get you access to the castles rooms and layers.
Each key grants you special skill that you can build into and put points into like a mini skill tree what effects you want, like one key will let you do an airdash, while another will give you a fireball throw etc.

No hats.

No Bowser, new entity.

THIS
But he has a plunger 'sword' and you can throw the plunger to stick at surfaces and then bounce off them like >>737035250 said

Holy fuck I would play this forever

Just make Bowser's Fury but with a GTA-sized map that unlocks progressively like BOTW.

In fact, given their recent disappointments like MKW and MP4, it's pretty obvious that this is what they're going to do.

BASED If Nintendo legitimately made this it would print so much fucking money and put Mario actually back on the map, if they made this game right, no one would ever care about SM64 ever again.

obviously not as consistent as Sunshine with the painting worlds all being their own thing but the castle hub world does ground the setting in a way that 3d world lacks

I didn't think about it, but a SM64 sequel set in a museum would be neat. Each painting world could take after a unique art movement

at first I thought "plunger sword, that's dumb" then I remembered Mario is a plumber, oh shit.

>A 64 sequel where you explore Bowser's Castle instead of Peach's Castle is such a simple idea that I'm surprised no romhackers have ran with it yet
Multiple romhackers have actually, lol. Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who's thought about a winter-themed Sunshine sequel. My idea was to have the hub area be a ski resort and the neighboring levels be other stereotypical winter locations like a tall pine forest, a christmas toy factory, an arctic fishing vessel, and a prehistoric ice cave, with the secret levels being floating ice cream treats and the final bowser level being the summit of a mountain during a snowstorm similar to Corona Mountain.
>>
>>737038721
Oh nice, a lot of your levels are similar to the ones I imagined. A cookie factory, an industrial fishing village, and a stormy Bowser summit battle. I really like the idea of a prehistoric ice cave and ice cream-themed secret levels.
>>
>>737023329
Man, I really need to play Mario Sunshine one of these days. It’s probably the only 3D Mario game I’ve never played.
>>
>>737039445
My idea with the prehistoric ice cave was that it would be the home of a yeti-like species similar to the piantas, along with the toy factory being inhabited by its own species inspired by nutcracker dolls.
