Is it really that bad? I just beat CoP and wonder if I should play Clear Sky next (already beat SoC back in the day) Or maybe play STALKER 2 instead?
>>
its not bad but the primary feature they advertised with it (faction wars) turned out to be completely pointless
the rest of it is a retreat of shoc with a few new areas. It's probably the prettiest game of the trilogy at the very least.
Also can be the most difficult since all enemies have the ability to throw a grenade directly on top of you. Depending on how you approach it this can be very annoying or promote a more strategical playstyle where you have to plan to relocate immediately after you get a few shots off.
Last few hours of the game are completely linear cod levels and that was another critique of the game at the time

tldr worth a play

Not at all. Its bad if you go from modded (read: playable) Stalker to retail CS as most people did - hence all the whinging.
>>
>>737024680
My complaint about this game is how fucking slow it feels after you get the crazy speed from SoC. The game isn’t that long tho it kind of feels like filler

It has cool combat music.
>>
I honestly have no idea if it was Clear Sky or CoP that I dropped. I loved SoC but then I tried another game and just dropped it pretty immediately. I remember some big warehouse in an open field and I just felt weird with the mechanics. Maybe I should try CoP again (or for the first time?), as it seems to be generally in higher regard than Clear Sky.
I just remember starting the game in some huge warehouse in an open field with some new gadget.
>>
>>737024680
I played a lot of SoC and CoP and dropped clear sky but I don't think I could accurately tell you why I didn't like clear sky
>>
Try Gamma and see if you like it. Stalker 2 is still a year+ away from being acceptable (not good)
>>
>>737027174
>try gamma
fuck you
>>
>>737024680
CS leans on the faction war system too heavily and makes all NPC and creature group movement completely teansparent on map which undermines the atmosphere and living world element and makes it feel more like a game of singleplayer battlefield with NPC's just pathing between capture nodes and doing little else for much of your playtime.

I would skip right to 2 or try a story mod instead.

That wasn't CoP.

What are the best mods for CS?
>>
>>737024680
It's definitely not as good as SoC and CoP.
I liked it except for the following
>only 1 underground area compared to the 4 in SoC
>dance club combat music
>grenade spam
>ridiculous economy
>dogshit upgrade system
>nerfed artifacts
Also, if you thought the CNPP was hard in SoC, just wait for it in Clear Sky.

>>
I happen to be playing it right now and yes, it is bad.
Every story event still seems familiar as I get to it, trying to figure out when I dropped this shit because I'm certain I haven't beaten it any time in the last 17 years
>>
>>737024680
No, it just feels kind of halfbaked.
>>
>>737030717
>if you thought the CNPP was hard in SoC, just wait for it in Clear Sky.
CS was easier, but also not even a tenth as enjoyable. SoC CNPP kind of drags on if you do true ending but CS is just fucking ass and the ending you get for it is even more ass.
>>
>>737031023
>CS was easier
I didn't think so, but I only beat it twice. Mutants were harder to kill in CS as well. That pseudogiant in Red Forest was damn near unkillable.
>>
>>737031972
CS gives the player accuracy upgrades that mitigate the biggest pain point in SoC's shooting mechanics, enemies also have way more pain and interact animations that effectively make combat easier by giving them less opportunities to shoot, and you can use the TOZ with darts off the bat.
>>
>>737032171
Love the dart TOZ, took out the entire swamps exit military outpost on my second play-through by circling between the binoculars and the weapon, took a while though since you need a very safe distance to take out the machine gunner properly along with anyone near it
>>
I feel like Clear Sky was more colorful in set design and had better lighting, I feel like lighting actually got much worse in CoP and atmosphere was lost in the transition over. Out of all the games Clear Sky got the atmosphere the best in some areas, in my opinion, hitting a good sweet spot between SoC and Metro which I think the series needs. It needs more teals, and more orange-to-yellow-to-teal-to-green style gradient lighting. It gave stuff a luster I feel like STALKER 2 missed the mark on heavily too.
>>
>>737024680
Assuming most game breaking bugs got fixed/fanpatched it is definitely worth playing, it really turns into call of duty about 70% through though.
>>
It's not good. It has some gameplay improvements over SOC like weapon upgrading and graphics looks great even now but half of the game is old SOC maps made worse, fraction system doesn't work, plot is awful and every "scripted" plot moment is fucking atrocious, like they tried to get you mad on purpose (unkillable blockpost gunman, bandits who stole all you money and you can't return it because money is not an item in this game, bridge of infinite snipers, boss helicopter with giant hp-bar, god-awful final level). Skip it unless you like Stalker shooting mechanics so much you don't care about everything else.
>>
>>737027174
>Try Gamma
Did they fix it or is it still gay shit for autists?
>>
>>737034304
You can adjust settings and turn off mods you dont like, that's the whole point of a modular modpack

No, it's just SoC but with better graphics, more shooting and less backtracking. I did drop it at the end because it turns into pure AIDS, but the same applies to SoC so whatever, these games aren't known for consistent quality.

CS Is ok but compared to SoC or CoP it's the worst stalker game.

How's STALKER 2 really?
>>
>>737024680
Not at all.
It WAS broken as fuck for many years, but with Latest patch + Starter pack (namely the SRP), it's quite serviceable.

I personally actually like CS' very harsh economy, that revolves around the now actually hard to acquire artifacts.

It's UE5 slop, console Ubshit, 200GB + 80€.
It literally lacks features and tech we already had back in 2007, like a working A-Life, and up until veeery recently, it didn't even have Binocs nor nightvision. The world is also empty as fuck

Broken AI, map is all setpieces waiting for you to stumble upon them (usually only if you have the quest otherwise nothing is there). NPC are incredibly hard to make out which faction they belong to and the world feels incredibly dead and not in the deserted and forgotten place way. From the moment that one "gameplay" trailer dropped for stalker 2 I knew what to expect but finally playing it last year it just disappointed on all fronts.

There is no reason not to play it, it's more STALKER.

CS gets the Dark Souls 2 treatment. I last played it in 2011 so my memory is foggy, but I put my 50 hours into it.
>>
>>737024680
It's the lesser of the three, but I actually enjoy the fact that each entry of the trilogy plays a little differently from one another. It's still stalker after all.
>>
>>737024680
It's been a while since I played clear sky so this might be out of date, but here's my experience:
SoC was fully playable and quite stable vanilla, never bothered with mods
Clear Sky fucking sucked vanilla because it has a nasty tendency to softlock you upon getting to the part where some bandits pwn you with a tripwired flashbang and steal your shit. The game crashes if you try to move to another map after that event.
That killed two playthroughs of mine and I say that as someone who escaped an extremely similar softlock in SoC caused by that one loner and his bloodsucker roommate in the dark valley
I blasted the shit out of CS with fan patches to fix that softlock, and I strongly recommend you do the same cos you're not getting far without it
>>
>>737044154
I remember the emissions in clear sky once broke my game by despawning all unique NPCs and never returning them after the emission ended. Only gamebreaking bug I encountered luckily
>>
worth playing for the remixed areas but it's the buggiest and most scripted
>>
>>737034304
Just replayed it a bit ago. Still shit. Fucking economy is the worst aspect overall, and Black Market doesn't really improve it, at least not at lvl. 2 traders. Can't use Trader Overhaul, because it's not patched for BAS stuff, and you lose the manuals that mechanics sell, which are more useless now that repair services are disabled. Honestly, I'm just gonna go over the mods Grok didn't have a hand in making, and create my own modpack on Anomaly. Maybe try to incorporate Old World, but I'm too used to the crafting and junk items now.

Don't know why they added so much grenade spam in CS but there is a lot of grenade spam in the game compared to SoC and CoP.
>>
>>737024680
It’s not, no. That is a meme spouted by filtered redditors.
CS is excellent.
>>
the bandit radio is pretty good, if long over-memed, and it's funny how it's blaring so loudly from the depot you can hear it from outside the walls compared to ganja's surf adventure song or the loner radio playing from one tinny little speaker
>>
>>737039010
Complaining about stuff not happening in a map location until the player gets there or the quests start is true for every single stalker game
