That's because you can play your old games on PC, making their shit completely redundant. Their 'remasters' are console trash.
>>
>>737028136
Quake 2 remaster adds among other things
-new campaign
-new enemy attacks
-gyro aiming (this shit is half the fun)

Its more than a simple remaster. You cant get this through modding
>>
>>737026707
>look up studio
>it's literally just remasters
I respect the work but a lot of these are probably still playable on PC without their help. Looking at the Blood: Refreshed Supply page there are even a load of negative reviews pissed that Atari took down the old version so they could upcharge for the new one.

It's not exactly an impressive catalog, all told.
>>
>>737026707
only consoletards will slurp up 30 dollar "remasters" of 30 year old games. the system shock 2 shit they had the audacity to pull is insane

Remasters that usually have an added feature or content not found in originals.
>>
>>737028298
Yes you can. The only worthwhile they added is the new maps but you can port it in any source port

The only FPS remaster nightdive ever did was that was brand new is dark triad. and that's ONLY because nobody ever made a good source port fo them.

Dark forces? Force engine, Doom? Take your fucking pick man. etc etc

Look, man. There are not a lot of people looking for these titles in the current day and most of the people who are nostalgic for them probably already have the damn game.

Adding new stuff to a game I like can be cool but I'm not going to shell out $30 for a slightly edited Star Wars Doom clone (especially not with that funky tweening in the cutscenes, wtf). The audience for these things are going to be pretty limited.

Yeah thats the other thing digifags complain about. I did the math, games with major errors account for about 1% of their releases. Not perfect sure. Still great track record. They have sent people fixed discs/carts for certain botched releases as well.
>>
>>737026707
>release new game
They're not even a development studio outside of the SS1 remake. Wasn't exactly their source material either but they changed it up enough to constitute new old game i suppose.
What they admitted is that they're basically a console porting company. Which is amusing because i assumed that was always the case.
But i hope people stop listening to Stephen Kicks misdirection on issues whenever they release a flawed port that its all because of Atari. Civvie11 and gmanlives need to be shut down for their shilling efforts and anyone on their pay role.
Tacitly admitting to not caring about PC releases is all i need to see. I'm still annoyed to see them falsely advertising things like an included VR port for System Shock 2 to ever give Stephen the benefit of the doubt.

>>
>>737026707
It's not my fault I've been able to easily pirate the GoG version of their ports. The one time I did buy one for real was Blood Fresh Supply, so you know exactly why I won't be doing that again.
>>
>>737026707
I don't find their remasters all that appealing
>>
>>737029931
>Even when fresh supply was released he called it an underbaked release
What about this specific release? I'm aware he didn't give them a pass one on Flesh Supply despite Nightdive were shameless enough to quote his videos in an achievement. But he shilled them at other times. IE. Rise of the Triad
You don't know if he received some promotional deal or not. Youtubers can get promo deals and are allowed to be negative too. Civvie inhabits a specific niche space of retro gaming and current day indie gaming and therefore he is ripe for behind the scenes email exchanges and monetary kickbacks.
I suspect the same thing happens with him as it does with Gmanlives.

Probably closer to a decade ago than 2 decades ago, Steam didn't take off for everything immediately until sometime in the 2010s.
Discs didn't stop existing and PCs still support CD/DVD/BR players/burners.
Can't say I miss all the hoops that insecure 2000s publishers wanted you to jump through just because they were scared of the scary pirates who would steal their cars, like codes in manuals/box stickers, DRM, individual company accounts, limited installs and needing the disc in the drive to start the game.
Nowadays you can just get a digital game that has zero DRM and doesn't treat you like a criminal.

Region locking disc drives was also some major bullshit. Especially when you could change the region for your drive but it was artificially limited to X number of times. Which from memory was done by manufacturers at the behest of the big media companies.

>>
>>737030828
>You just parrot old remarks without really understanding anything uh?
He says, parroting AI.
Games aren't affected by inflation, they're an immaterial good provided by a cheap service that is capable of reaching a very large audience (much larger than the audience in the 90s). The cost to produce a game can be scaled arbitrarily from one guy working in a Polish garage to a large AAA publisher setting money on fire rather than using it to develop a game, so its not like cost of living has actually affected development costs unless you need to somehow bankroll thousands of Commiefornians.
>>737030910
Yes, publishers were literally insane.
>>
>>737031210
Except that anyone not serious about it was stuck getting fucked by that bullshit for the sake of maybe a single disc. For no good reason.
>>
>>737030810
It's crazy how scare publishers were of pirates back in the 2000s. I know we have shit like denvo but back then you they would pull shit like hiding the cd registration keys in the case or some shit. So even if someone dumped it if it wasn't cracked or you had a key list you were SOLd.
>>
>>737031395
CD-Keys were fine for the most part. And made sense insofar as a reasonable measure. The diabolical stuff came later. Few seem to remember how close we came to music CDs getting completely fucked by DRM.
>>
>>737030331
>PCfags stopped supporting discs around 20 years ago
Discs were going to become irrelevant considering we're loading stuff of NVMEs nowadays. The less layers of abstraction the faster the load times.
I'm not against the idea of discs existing for say like those smaller indie titles but for any major game release this was going to disappear regardless. Especially because devs are also bad at optimizing storage capacity nowadays that even blurays struggle to put the full thing on there.

As shitty as a company Nightdive may be.
I think some people don't realize how good they've had it compared to the worst remasters out there and even some of the complaining about Aspyr looks overblown compared to this hackjobbery. I'm still angry that Commandos 2 remaster was so butchered that you're better off playing the original. And to get the original running on modern HD resolutions you need to buy a mod behind a paywall for the HD project, it does a few more things as to why they justified putting it behind a paywall but it's still an already absurd thing about playing an old game.
Theres always the worst case scenario where the legacy was pissed on in the official capacity. Stained and will completely remove its ability to reach younger and newer audiences. Thats what happened with the official HD retail version of this. If you need to see the worst then this might be the biggest insult ever conceived and thats not just because of censorship. Its inferior because all sorts of bugs that the old game never had.

Sorry to correct myself you can still only play the original at 1080p. Someone just made a hd remaster mod that plays well with 16:9 resolutions. Its basically the best you can do with it without having any of the original code. It's not bugged like the new remasters though. Thats the appeal of that HD mod instead. The downside is you only get 1080p resolution whilst newer remasters support 4k and higher. But its broken so it doesn't matter anyway.

Edward is a useless, retarded Troonworld faggot who acts as a company spokesman and is protected by a horde of troon admins. He gives out false information when it comes to Zdoom related coding questions to fuck over any ambitious modders. He's a walking talking tumor.

Don't just agree with someone because he says you're wrong. Unless it's me.
