The only part of Wii U era Nintendo that I miss is the user interface.
>ambient music
>miiverse posts and artwork cycling on tv
>eshop, settings, mii maker, etc. all had their own music
>splash screen when loading up games
Switch interface feels lifeless.

>need to go to wii menu
>please navigate using the wiimote

fucking

I agree, but I kinda liked the Switch for being so simple and straightforward during the peak of the multimedia push in consoles.
Just put your game in and play

>gamepad screen is broken
>want to navigate the settings menu
>can't, because it's all on the gamepad
Mistakes were made. The aesthetic was good though

Wii Menu was peak. The fact that it simulated looking at different virtual channels was peak design. I like the current Switch UI because it's simple and everything I need is on that main screen like easy access to settings.

The Switch's OS has always felt so underbaked
>Dedicated themes menu when there's only 2 themes
>Sorting still just kinda sucks
>NSO controllers Can't be remapped which kills cross-console controllers like using the GCN controller on N64
>Introduce Handheld Boost
>No quick on/off button
>Can't set per-game settings

The Wii U was peak Nintendo. It was fun just to turn the console on. They need to bring back the miiverse and make a stylus for the switch 2.

>get Wii U for Christmas 2012
>me, siblings, and cousins spent at least an hour with mii maker
>made miis of each other from scratch and compared them with the auto-generated miis from the gamepad camera
Good times.

Wii U was peak for the gba virtual console. Playing superstar saga on the gamepad was beautiful.

Just use Cocoon or iiSU frontends.

LMAO THIS DUMB NIGGER FELL FOR IT
>>
Wii/Wii U seemed like Apple products

The main thing that sucks with the Switch's menu is that you can't resize the icons. Everything has to be gigantic and you can't see more than 4 games at a time despite it always rendering 8.

Modders have had that figured out for years, dunno why it isn't an option still.

>most DS's and both Wiis
>had a cohesive and stylized UI
>forgot about the Wii's, but most DS's had some customization.
>switch
>bland and flat UI
>practically no customization
the switch having a shit UI was the definitive sign that nintendo stopped being a good company. with the switch nintendo fell for every single scummy practice in the gaming industry from DLC to FOMO
>>
>>737043365
The Wii's customization was being able to order the tiles as you want, which is more than what the Switch allows.

Wii was the casual system
Wii U was a honest effort at games for everyone, casuals, normies, and actual gamers or at least long time fans, but poor system sales likely helped resulting in...
Switch, the system for "gamers", but actually for shareholders
Switch 2, the system for tendie cultists, "gamers", and not secretly at all shareholders
