It was all so simple then… does anyone remember how good we had it?
>>737039679It was fun for sure, but playing and watching most shit now, its shit.It rode the early internet novelty train. Now most shit free games are being sold on steam so that sucks, but free or a dollar, they arent worth your time
>>737039812Crusader Kings 2 is goated and it’s free
I remember the earlier versions with the newgrounds radio, up voting and participating shit to get a cooler weapon on my profile and achievement hunting on Mausland games.Takes me back. There was a lot of slop mind you, but a lot of it was also fucking great, especially later on with shit like scriptwelder and the like.
>go to fren's house>play games while the shitty internet slowly loads the 3.2MB flash videovgh...
It still exists, you can go there right now
>>737040196Internet and game culture isn’t even centred on Newgrounds anymore. The closest thing we have is niche discord servers and Patreon/ kickstarter
>>737040237>anymoreIt never was.
Newgrounds is still exactly the same as it used to be. The site is relatively active and the only major difference is that there are a lot more waifus being drawn by talentless hacks. But if you like underground animations and niche fandoms it's still pretty good.
>>737040317Lemme guess, you think /v/ is the cultural locus of the digital age?
My friend was obsessed with Mario flash animations
>>737040423They were pretty good tho, I can still remember watching the whole category pretty much. The music videos people made were pretty good. The realistic Mario with the Russian music oh the people's Mario and offspring why do you get a job one. The Mario fails using the gameboy sprites was cool too.
I liked the porn
>>737040423Wish i could find those Mario flash games like the DJ one and dress up
>>737040391No, I just know the internet wasn't centered around Newgrounds at any point.
>>737040723Friday Night Funkin and Among Us both came from Newgrounds and they dominated Youtube's algorithm for like three years straight
>>737040664One thing I will say is however is I never really rated the games being any good as flash didn't really progress as much as the animation side. Madness interactive however was mad fun and I still would love a game that has the ability to throw knives and weapons that feel like that game. Otherwise it was always things like escape room games which I wasn't a huge fan of.

>>737040328>undergroundthey lost that facade when Tom decided to ban faggot in the forums
>>737040851>Underground means I can call people slurs and get away with itIs that why you ran away to 4chan instead of doing anything with your life?
>>737040423I was that friend.
>>737040237Present-day internet culture isn't fed by fans, it's fed by groups trying to get you to buy a product. NG was just a cool place to post things you made, which during that era were utterly worthless. Things were made as experiments or just passion projects.Newgrounds has an archive going back like 25 years. You can get on there right now and play Abobo's Big Adventure or watch Dakimakura for Christmas through Ruffle. We still have it good, just don't go looking for new shit.
