Am I doing something wrong in Oblivion? You can be level 40 and someone asshole bandit with a iron warhammer will one shot you with a power attack if you're not in heavy armor. It's less about scaling and numbers are more about positioning, having the right tools for the fight(swords do shit all to heavy armor, but maces are very effective) and knowing which fights to pick and which fights to skip.

You can take untrained slaves and sell them to work in mines for a small payout OR fuck them into submission and sell them to an inn as a prostitute OR whip them until they're docile to sell as personal maids. There are like a dozen different ways to train slaves with with full stat breakdowns and you can even assign your trusted slaves to break-in and train new slaves for you. The roleplay opportunities are endless.
