What would you do if you were in charge of the next smash game?

Cancel it.

MOBA mode similar to smash run. Each character could be a different class type.

i would focus on gameplay. unpopular choice, i know.
>>
Cloud should have indefinite limit again like in Smash 4, but also change it so it can't be manually charged. That way limit actually works like in FF7/Remake/Rebirth.
>>
>>737085303
Exactly what I came here to say. FPBP.
>>
i would have it secretly be a chrono trigger game with you going across time and space in various vidya worlds to recruit and battle a new evil.
>>
There won’t be Smash 6
>>
go all in on character customization
can't beat ultimate on quantity so let me customize my mario with a ton of different moves from his history

Normally, I'd put a "How bro felt saying this" greentext accompanied by an image of Heath Ledger Joker burning that pile of money but after the way tendies have been acting, yeah, I'd cancel it too. I want to see how long Nintendo can keep the humiliation ritual going for their audience.

why does this one mechanic filter you so much? it's literally just scooting forward or backward.

i'll recover the focus on the single player experience, fuck tourneyfaggots

A few years ago, I would’ve complained about this but after a nick smash clone did wavedashing and mario kart world decided to introduce all this new movement tech that’s gonna get the most use from pros, I see no reason why sakurai shouldn't do something like this. In fact, thinking anout it how, it’s kind of weird how much more mario kart has changed over the years compared to smash. With smash, it’s kind of been the same stuff since brawl in terms of mechanics, nothing really big, while with mario kart, the series got wifi and retro courses in ds, bikes, 12th people races, and tricks in wii, riding underwater and gliding in 7, anti gravity in 8, and now the movement tech in world.

Remove Minecraft and about forty of the stupid Fire Emblem characters no one has even heard of outside of Smash.
>>
>>737088705
Except Sonic and Mega Man. Maybe Pac-Man.
>>
Every character has crit chance that cannot be turned off.
Unlike tripping, which even casual players had disdain for, casuals will love a lucky crit, while tourney bros seethe.

Reworks for all the pre-Sm4sh cast. Why the fuck does Ganondorf still fight like a Captain Falcon knockoff?
>>
>>737085192
I would rename Pyra/Mythra to Homura/Hikari and have them speak only Japanese.
I would bring back Fox's Melee VA if he's still alive or just use the same voice lines he had in Melee.
Falco would get his voice lines from Brawl.
I'd add the Subspace Emissary 2 where Tabuu uses his evil powers to make everyone evil and you pick one character to start as, and then you have to gradually save characters as you play until you have access to all of them, and you have boss battles where you fight rayquaza and shit similar to that again.
I would revamp the stage maker and add a lot of options similar to brawl and ultimate stage editor but with more gadgets to use like in brawl.
I would cut all of your favorite characters but keep all of my favorite characters. And add netcode rollback, and remove all fire emblem characters except marth and roy and add paper mario, shadow, metal sonic, master chief, gold ship, and whoever else you dislike lol.
>>
Nah but for real though,
I'd add custom balancing so you can tweak the damage and knockback caused by each move yourself, and change handicaps so the way it works is that you get less knockback if you have a handicap turned on. Also I'd let players disable certain stages in the game rules not just for random but in general too. Lol.
>>
cut down the human characters that are just jrpg swordsmen or fighting game punchman

add more single player content

>Characters
Focus more on reworking old characters instead of introducing new ones.
>Stages
A new design philosophy: Stages are thematic, but not lifted 1:1 from existing game assets nor just a Battlefield. Keep them smaller, and limit gimmicks to one or two per stage. Music is limited to 8 tracks, at most, and there would be an effort to make sure each stage has at least 4 new tracks.
>Items
Reworked to be less swingy. There's still some items that will win you a stock, but they are fewer in number. Explosions are more limited in size and power.
New Item: Baddie Box. Takes a pummeling, but once cracked open spills 1-4 enemies into the fight. Takes enemies from various series. Players who defeat one or more get a temporary stat boost.
>Modes
Single player adventure mode remixes Spirits. There are fewer Spirits overall, but they have a unified art style (ie, original art made for this game). Game has a level select like Brawl, but stages are shorter, with about half being arena fights or challenges like Break the Targets.
Bring back Smash Run, with the option to play consecutive rounds. The big arena is made up of "blocks" arranged randomly.
>Mechanics
Characters have a "Shield Special" which is usually a minor gimmick, similar to how Inkling recovers ink.
>Samus changes beam types
>Link detonates his bombs. He can now have two auto-bombs; one spherical, one cube
>Pokemon Trainer moves pokemon swapping to Shield Special
Special consideration is made to ensure these moves still work in the air.
Final Smashes are removed. Instead, your FS summons an Assist Trophy-like companion to do a big move or a flurry of regular moves. The option to pick a specific Assist on a second character select screen is present.

Make a different genre of game entirely. TRPG, adventure game, character action, whatever. I don't think Ultimate can really be topped in terms of breadth of content or refinement of its premise, so they should do something different
They can still port Ultimate including DLC to Switch 2 if they want, Mario Kart 8DX style
>>
>>737088705
>>737089220
Megaman and Simon are basically Nintendo characters, they can stay, Pac-Man will probably stay if Bamco is the developer again, Sonic is too popular to cut, everyone else can go.
