Every reimagining I've played so far has been pretty meh (Recharged Emerald, Recharged Yellow, Seaglass Emerald, Yellow Legacy, Heart and Soul, GS Chronicles (Dark Violet was fine, I didn't hate that)) so I'd just play vanilla and use the randomizer to make trade evos evolveable/trade with yourself in a second emulated game
Or play Rutile Ruby/Sinking Sapphire. Drayano hacks are kino.
