I love quippy protags but I'm also a gamer so my experience with quippy protagonists is entirely within the context of games. Games like BioShock Infinite or Thief are some of my favourite first person games because the characters react to their environment. I'm a quippy person myself, so I like it when characters react with some sort of emotion. But I also like games like the Witcher, although that's less quippy & more of that dry Polish sense of humour.

But, all in all, I prefer voiced main characters, & if they're quippy or sarcastic then I like them even more.
