But this is why they fucked up, because most people aren't going to play a 15-20 hour game more than once and once people get the first ending, which is unavoidable in the first playthrough, they'll likely have a very soured reaction and drop the game. They were going for an unreliable narrator whose feelings on marriage were soured because of her own experiences, but too many people interpret this as the game trying to convey a message rather than this just being the character's own thoughts.In the game’s true ending, it's revealed that Hinako actually has feelings for Kotoyuki (the guy she's arranged to marry). Her issues aren't t with marriage per se, but with the "lack of agency" in an arranged marriage.
