>use a CRT it's more authentic for older games
NO!!!
One year of CRT use blasts you with the equivalent DEADLY radiation dose of living next to a NUCLEAR POWER PLANT for ELEVEN YEARS
I'll stick with my non-lethal shaders thank you
>>
Why is a nuclear power plant even listed there? They do no release any radiation at all. You can literally drink the steam from the cooling towers without gaining more rads than eating a banana.
>>
Don't worry OP, we know you make up for it by choking on countless bananas
>>
>>737173627
touching plastic kills you 10 years earlier than normal btw

>>737173839
workers absorb ionizing radiation tho, water obviously would be safe, its a good retard medium (heavy water tastes like sweet spring water btw I was given a spoonful of it before)
>>
>>737173627
According to that chart if you sleep next to someone for a year you absorb >18 μSv
>>
>>737173627
You receive ten times as much radiation daily as a CRT monitor does in a year.
>>
>>737174124
Which is a rounding error next to how much you receive from background radiation.
>>
>>737173627
>>737174336
thank goodness i never sleep next to anyone

That doesnt change the fact that a CRT (cathode RADIATION tube) releases an infinite amount more radiation than a nice IPS LCD.

whats it like living in chernobyl?

>8 Sv fatal even with treatment
Hisashi Ouchi received an instantaneous dose of 17 Sv in the Tokaimura nuclear accident and was kept alive for 83 days while his body fell apart. His cellular biology was so damaged that a test performed on a sample of his bone marrow could not identify his chromosomes.
>>
>>737175198
he should've been mercy killed honestly
>>
>>737175443
Dude's flesh was melting off his bones, but we learned a lot about the effects of radiation, mostly that it kills people very painfully.
>>
>>737173627
Kill just cut down 10 bananas a year, no problem.
>>
>>737173627
textbook example of having no idea how radiation works and how and how much of it causes damage LMAO
μSv is a MICROSIEVERT, 1/1000th of a MILLISIEVERT
you know what this means?
that to receive ONE MILLISIEVERT of radiation from a CRT monitor you'd need to use it every day for ONE FUCKING THOUSAND YEARS, that will give you ONE MILLISIEVERT.
how much is that? just from the NATURAL radiation you get from the NATURAL environment around you, quite literally from the sun, plants, other people, animals, you get around FOUR MILLISIEVERT A YEAR

EXISTING FOR ONE YEAR GIVES YOU 4 TIMES MORE RADIATION THAN USING A CRT EVERY DAY FOR 1 THOUSAND YEARS

that chart isnt made to show how dangerous CRTs are, its made to show the actual scale of radiation and how save nuclear power actually is, to show that living near a power plant for several years will give less radiation that eating ONE banana will
>>
>>737177932

fuck

yeah sure until some retard hits the wrong buttons then you end up in a youtube video 20 years from now talking about how an unlikely series of mistakes turned anon into uranium goop
>>
>>737178385
Here's the thing: WHY THE FUCK IS YOUR DISPLAY OUTPUTTING ANY FUCKING RADIATION AT ALL??
LCDs dont have this problem.

sure, lets talk about the nuclear incidents, the ones you can count on 2 hands since nuclear power is a thing, the ones that, IN TOTAL, made less than 100 victims in tens of years since nuclear power is a thing, but lets ignore the tens of incidents PER YEAR in coal plants and the TENS OF THOUSNADS VICTIMS of coal poisoning

>nuclear power
>3 incidents in the last 20 years, with 7 victims
>not a single victim of radioation OUTSIDE of incidents, simply by working in nuclear plants
>TOO DANGEROUS
>coal power
>17 incidents since 2025(11 of which ONLY during 2025), totaling 458 victims
>8000 deaths in 2025 cause of coal poisoning OUTSIDE of incidents, simply by working in coal plants
>that's fine
fucking retards
>>
>>737178594
first of all, ALL electronics, including LCDs, emit radiation
the difference is not IF they emit it, its the amount, and the amount of radiation an LCD is extremely negligible compared to a CRT(1 μSv/year from a CRT, less than 0.005 μSv/year from a LCD)
second, if your question really is WHY does it emit radiation, CAUSE EVERY FUCKING THING DOES
your pets emit radiation, wood emits radiation, even fucking rocks do, you as a person emit more radiation in a year than a LCD does in the same time

the quesion of radiation is NEVER if it's emitted, cause nothing exists without emitting radiation, the question is HOW MUCH, and literally everything in your life, from going outside, to having a job, to interacting with people, to eating food(even 100% uncontaminated by anything at all), etc gives you more annual radiation than a CRT does in the same time

the point is this much radiation is HARMLESS

to get any measurable harm from a CRT you'd need to have one turned on 24/7 for 1 MILLION YEARS
>>
>>737173913

70 microsieverts a year is fucking nothing, 1 microsievert from CRT use even less so. You receive 35–100 microsieverts in one (1) intercontinental flight.
>>
>>737175071

That's a lie. The primary reason that CRTs are so fucking heavy is because of the lead inside of them that specifically absorbs radiation which was already incredibly low amounts to begin with. You would get the same amount of radiation from eating two bananas that a CRT would give you in an entire year. What exactly is the point of lying about something so specific like a CRT television?
>>
>>737181994
>implying the fossil cartel would allow any significant nuclear energy use

>>
>>737173839
Because it would solve the whole "gas and coal cause pollution and climate change" problem and you can't bilk money forever if you actually solve the problem you're using to justify the money bilking
Solutions are the absolute last thing anyone who makes money or power off a problem wants, it's like curing a disease once and for all when you could sell a pill to control symptoms to someone for the rest of their life
>>

Nuclear is the most optimal and safe energy source for sure but anyone who believes death numbers reported by soviet officials is a giga retard.

> non-lethal shader
You will burn in the deepest of hells for all time. What's a bit of cancer vs eternal suffering. Use an lcd if you must, but to create a graven image is the greatest of sins. All those who use or develop CRT shaders will experience eternal suffering far beyond what any human language can describe.

And it's still almost nothing.

>Coal literally turns your lungs black

If you were inside the combustion system of a modern coal-fired power plant, you would have fourth degree burns across your whole body within 90 seconds, and your brain would boil inside your skull. And the same would be true of natural gas and petroleum-fired plants. Those are also more likely to blow up in a giant fireball and poison the entire surrounding area.

The only times nuclear power has injured, sickened or killed anyone is when people cut corners or ignore risks.
Chernobyl? They cut corners trying to hit unrealistic goals, then massively underestimated the problem until it was way too late.
Fukushima? They handwaved safety procedures and failed to maintain disaster mitigation systems put off making upgrades against environmental risks and the inspectors rubber stamped the plant even though they weren't doing everything they should have been. Then the exact scenario all those measures and systems were supposed to mitigate actually happened and their negligence came to light.

Three-Mile Island? It was a cascade of errors we've since solved. A valve got stuck open and the monitoring systems didn't make it clear what was actually happening, so they were slow to figure it out. In the end, a small amount of radioactive water vapor got released into the environment. No one actually suffered for it. The plant continued operating until the sensationalist backlash forced it to shut down, and no long term consequences to public health have emerged in the decades since.
