Avowed was actually fun as an RPG with story and decision consequences. Never played the first game.

It's the type of polished, detailed, narrow-scope linear action adventure game you got a shit load of back then, where the gameplay and combat were formulaic but fun enough and the main thing separating them is the world each one inhabits and what you get to see and explore. Takes me back to a simpler time when games didn't have to be competitive multiplayer or hardcore skill mastery-focused with minimal frills and belonging to one of five genres in order to be given any credit.
