They were initially kinda bad but now you take them for granted. Obviously emulating more modern consoles will need more work than with the GBA though.

Huh? It works pretty good for how new it is. Plenty of games are fully playable with little to no graphical fuckups, I've finished like 20 games on it and had a pretty seamless experience. Xbox emulation didn't really exist before it and it's only a few years old. Give it time, they push out updates pretty frequently.

Xbox emulation is unique as it has exactly the same issue as the brand. After the 360 it became so irrelevant not many people care to make those few leftover exclusives playable. Pretty much every other system either has near perfect emulaton or gets a lot of updates constantly to improve. Xbox emulation is a few dudes adding whatever sometimes.PS3 emulation is better and more performant than OG Xbox despite the latter is PC based. Let this sink in. Xemu has a fundamental extreme CPU load issue to this day they may never fix. I have a separate 12th gen Intel laptop with a 2050 for emulation and it runs pretty much everything below PS4 without any serious load, even when I upscale. It runs native ports of PS4 games at 1080p60 without issues. I run Xemu and the fans start screaming instantly because there is some fundamental fucking problem the devs can't or don't want to adress. Mind you this laptop can cool a 135W GPU at full load and the 2050 is just 50W. It is that bad. I'm playing Infinite Wealth in 1080p60fps and the fans never once get anywhere close to Xemu, even when it runs 8 hours straight.

The rest of the systems have native PC ports so it depends on either popularity or a few very smart dudes spearheading the projects. As for older 2D systems it is usually also easier. Explains why Xbox emulation is probably the worst in general. The systems are modern enough to make it hard, the system is not popular and there aren't many exclusives on it for people to care about.

Like how PCSX2 languished for years, or how the N64 coprocessor wasn't tackled properly until recently. Xbox emulation had some fucking huge hurdles to overcome.Not to mention it's no surprise it's taken longer, since a lot of the more intrigue-driving games have been ported or remade over the years. I mean, the Xbox still has plenty of games that never left the system, but far more of them are a lot more niche or just outright strange.
