I will not spend a single second of my life doing anything where the pleasure or outcome of a it depends on other people in my team. Team games with ranked matchmaking are designed for social status. Nobody plays them to have fun, they play them to prove themselves to others. It's why everyone is constantly toxic, cheating, quitting, etc. Majority of people playing these games are not cut out for group activities. My fire hot take is that you should keep matchmaking, but remove visible ranks from players. Everyone that actually likes the game will keep playing it and have fun, and games will be balanced, but you will remove 90% of the players that play it for clout, so Riot will never do that.
