>12 immigrants
It's over, Tropico has fallen
>>
>>737192384
I remember when I brought an actual refugee crisis to my island by activating the edict that gives you 100 chink immigrants but forgetting to give them enough jobs or housing
Getting rid of that sprawling chink ghetto was a experience
>>
>>737191664
Are the Tropico games any good?
>>
>>737191664
>Tropico 7 is in development
Neat, I love playing as despot. Last one I played tho was 5, so I might check 6 in the meanwhile.
>>
>>737192661
Yeah.
>>
>>737192739
6 is fantastic. Probably the best in the series IMO.
>>
I don't know why they didn't have Sunny Smiles and Penultimo doing the radio in every game
The chemistry between your pitiful #1 lapdog and stereotypical hippie girl whi actually questions things was fun

What the fuck are you doing anon?

They need to get rid of eras. Stupid gimmick that should not have made it out of 5
>>
>>737192791
Why are publishers like this?
High seas await I guess, yarr.

6 is the best one out there especialy after the travesty that was 5, just skip the last few dlc's, they where developed by third parties and it realy shows, most of the story missions from the moon dlc onwards are bugged and straight up not compleatable, the dlc buildings themselves are buggy and leave their foilage on the map if you delete them, dont give them money for doing a shity job at QA

Offices are just Perpetuum Mobile for money.
You simply can't build enough of them.

What is funny is that this one edict is Great Replacement in action. 10 years later and every faction candidate is a chink, every minister is a chink and every kid with tropican flag has a chink name.
>>
>>737193259
I'll play it tomorrow. I was going to buy it until I saw how much shit there is and how poorly some of it is made.
>>
>>737192791
It would be perfect if I had more tools for oppresing the people. Liberty is ok in concept but faction politics should have a bigger impact. Hardline militarists should be ok with 0 liberty and other stuff as long as you keep the army happy. It would also put more focus on propaganda. Being able to have cops auto arrest rebels would also be good.
>>
>>737192661
never played 1 and 2, they lookt very dated but I am interested to play them someday to just check them out

3 is the first 3d tropico and very fun, it just lacks what makes later tropicos exeptional like the whaky characters, the voice acting, a story campaign and much of the satire tho 3 also has its moments

4 was 3 refined and added most of the things that make tropico stand out like dynamic story missions and faction demands, every political ideology now has its own voiced representative and they are all pretty fun to listen to, the modern times add on even adds a working timeline progression that unlocks new buildings
It didn't change much about the core gameplay and issues 3 had like the extremly frontloaded difficulty never got addressed
its still the best tropico after 6

I hope they let me fuck with citizens more. The screenshot of "constitution screen" isnt filling me with confidence. I want to really BE one of the most gruesome dictators ever, i want rediculous laws and mandates
>>
>>737195718
Game was usually comedy focused so I doubt they would go that route.
I would still want to have my own organ harvesting operation on an island.
>>
>>737195897
It can be funny oppression like the old timey clothes edict
So long as i have lots of options to torment them im happy

5 is the most controversial one, in its aim to fix the core problems 3 and 4 had they added even more problems
first they added an era system that locks you out of most of the games buildings until you "progress the ages" by doing certain missions. Sounds interesting but is actualy just a realy boring tutorial that you have to play over and over, the colonial era gives you almost nothing to do and just has you building farms and mines until you can either start an independence war of just buy your freedom for money, later eras are either "allie with x faction" or "build x building" its not appealing at all and you just want to skip them
it also removed most of the characters, especialy the faction representatives and replaced them with some random dudes that are just way less appealing
they also added research(who cares), exploration of the island(who cares), an actual constitution where you can regulate voting and worker rights(good in theory, ruined by the fact that foreigen powers get huge oppinion modifyers on your laws that can lead to war because they dont like that you have militias instead of an organised army) and an dynasty system where you can create your merry family of corrupt whaky oligarchs that all give different buffs and debuffs which was the best feature they intigrated into the game and I have no idea why they removed it in the sequel
also all the dlcs suck and straight up make the game worse lmao

6 is basicaly to 5 what 4 was to 3, they heavily polished the base mechanics, the era system is still there but it sucks way less, also you actualy now get something to do in early colonial age, faction representatives are finaly back, and the game also added a brand new mechanic with "raids" where you can build agent buildings(one for each age) where you can do all kinds of things, the most important one is stealing monuments from superpowers that give your island huge buffs, like your subjects not dying from bad healthcare or permanent pollution reduction
almost all buildings have secondary functions or work modes making them very flexible, tech actualy matters now(kinda), you can now actualy use your swiz bank money to bribe factions leaders to instantly compleate their missions or to temporarely increase your image, tourism actualy makes a profit now and I liked the campaign missions
and like I >>737193259 said, dlc is ok till you hit new frontiers and from there on everything becomes trash, never buy them just pirate if you have to, most of the stuff the dlc bring are restricted to the dlc campaigns themselves anyway so you wont miss that much
6 is the most polished and with all its content its probably the best one yet, just get it for cheap and dont buy the later dlc's they are just scam
>>
I think letting you fully modernize the island was a mistake. It loses the tropical charm that makes the game what it is.

>>737195148
1 is great but 3 pretty much copied it. Best soundtrack by far though.

My million dollar game idea is basically Space Station 13 in Tropico's setting.
>>
>>737199417
dont you mean that the other way arround?
if yes then spacebase startopia already kinda did it
>>
>>737199574
No, I literally mean ss13 in Tropico's setting, in the sense that SS13 has been compared to "dwarf fortress, but you play as one of the dwarfs."
Everyone plays as a citizen of some unstable Latin American island dictatorship with their own job, including the most important one, El Presidente.

>>737192661
1 can be pretty brutal
2 is a black sheep but is fun
3 and 4 are pretty much the same, 4 is a bit better and is generally considered the peak of the series
5 is total dogshit
6 is barely better
7 actually looks promising

The first Tropico is like the first Sims. It has this unquantifiable SOVL multiplier that makes it really stick with you. I remember the custom side missions being surprisingly deep and varied, if you got the expansions. I highly recommend checking it out, if just for the soundtrack.
Sooooo saddddd

I haven't played it, but I've heard of a more sci-fi 1984 version of that called Aneurism IV on Steam. You might want to check that out if you really want to try your idea in the real world.

>job: dead
So, the easiest way to get a job is to kill yourself? Why did we not tell this to all the NEETs?
