I want to race my ridges but I only ever saw the menu of 4th entry.I also never saw any ot the other releases discussed here.Which Ridge Racer games are good, which are bad, which are worth playing?

The original Ridge Racer just doesn't make sense unless you're playing it in an arcade with a steering wheel and pedals.There's that analog controller made for the game, but it doesn't come close to the real thing.

R is different because it's more realistic and uses licensed vehicle instead of ridge racer brands, it also has rally cross, rally, and traditional events. 6 and 7 uses nitrous system, and 7 has different nitrous plug-ins that change how you obtain it. The PSP, 3ds, and Mobile game are good ports too. 6 still has Xbox servers up, I think 7 does on PS3 cause i still see JP streamers playing it on stream running viewer matches. The OSTs are great, the mobile port has Rio Hamamoto working on it (Daemon X Machina OST, Tekken 7 & 8 tracks). You should also check out the 20th Anniv Album and Bootlegs/Tributes.

The handling is just not fun, especially since they went the "all cars weigh 40,000 pounds" route of making the cars feel grippy, but then the first fucking course is those uphills and downhills and you fly off the top of the hill at 100mph and just PLOP back to the ground with 0.3 inches of air time. I prefer the simpler arcade style games without customization and drift boosting overall, but Ridge Racer 7 is really great anyway. You can skip 6, its basically the beta version for 7. More tracks, crisper 1080p image, 60fps. One of the reasons I keep my PS3. Ridge Racer 2 (PSP) is a nice compilation of tracks and music and really great too.
