One of my favorite puzzle games ever. It's also got some good custom maps. I've never played the multiplayer and I'm not sure why.

I thought for sure Valve would make a Portal 3, considering how insanely popular the first 2 games were.

It's a fun puzzle game.

Those fucking radios ruin the atmosphere of the first one.

Replayed it a few years ago. Overall still great. Cave Johnson's lines held up the worst.

Porptal reference.
>>
The puzzles are too gimmicky rather than being genuinely interesting
>>
It was one of the last good games from a proper game studio imo

>>737206796
Wasn't the co-op campaign better in that sense?
>>
I think it's friendslop with the added flanderization of characters. The first game is way better.

Chud KINO
>>
Hmmm, gels. Yummy!
>>
Bump
>>
The writing is trying too hard to one-up the first game and generally fails and the puzzles have been massively downgraded in favour of bombastic setpieces
The co-op is fun though
>>
>>737205318
I quit early because that stupid br*t*sh robot wouldn't stop stammering bad long-winded "jokes."
>>
>>737205318
It's a good and original game, clearly made with plenty of care and soul.
The writing and humour are very much a product of their times though. They were better times.

its the most well produced video game of all time
its valves magnum opus
>>

>puzzles have been massively downgraded
Do people sleep post this forget how easy the first game was?
Portal 1 can basically be beat by a bot doing this
>put cube on button
>portal to next area
>repeat
Compare this with the last few chapters of portal 2
There are actually steps you can do that don't progress the level, like put gel paint on a useless area, or do things in the wrong order
It's impossible to do things in the wrong order in portal 1

That it was fun, but was less of just a set of puzzles and more of a pseudo Pixar movie complete with wacky characters.

I hate games that require you to play co-op/MP to get 100% achievements.
>>
Kids these days will never understand how fucking hype this shit was

I've never played it, but I've heard this too
>>

I recall the marketing for Portal 2 was very show-off-y which is rare for Valve. They spent an entire year since that E3 announcement hyping the game up with a bunch of stuff from ARG to giving out the first game for free.
>>
It's too goofy in tone. The original is actually eerie.
>>
>>737212192
Just like with half-life X
>>
>>737206796
There's only so much you can do with the dual portal mechanic so naturally Valve had to add more gimmicks to it.
>>
>>737205318
It and the first game are unironically 2 of the best games of all time.
>>
>>737212926
That would be nice. Honestly that game deserves that kind of fanfare. We'll see in two more weeks.
>>
The Borealis was interesting. I wonder what Valve will do with that in the next half life game
>>
>>737205318
It's incredibly fun and I wouod love to use remote play to play with my friend who don't have it, but remote play is completely and utterly broken in it.

My theory is it'll be a transport hub Gordon uses to teleport all over the worlds, including Aperture based on this Episode 3/HL3 concept.
>>
>>737205318
Unfunny and boring, but I don't like puzzle games in general, except for Professor Layton.
>>
>>737205318
Overrated like all the other shit from valve.
>>
>>737205318
Didn't like the story as much but the puzzles were great.
I still dream of the gels. God they're mesmerizing.
>>
>>737205318
Inferior to 1, the gameplay is fine but the story is a yuge downgrade
>>
>>737205318
Great game, improves upon the first in every way. They have to be played back-to-back though.
