>I can no longer immerse in a video game world
Is this from turning boomer, or are the games bad?
>>
turn your other monitor off
put your phone on DND and across the room.
use headphones
>>
Take a break from video games and indulge in other entertainment forms like movies, books, hell even visual novels

you probably need to detox from your favorite genre
>>

>game is still lifeless
>>
>>737207280
most modern game are bad
play older games you haven't played yet
>>
>>737207421
then you're either playing a shit game, a FOMO game you don't enjoy, or are depressed and have bigger issues.
>>
You guys ever hop into your tv like super duper mario?
>>
People who can't learn to appreciate things without feeling like a child are barely human.

You people need to come to accept that your brain changes when you grow and chasing that child-like giddy feeling of excitement is long gone and never coming back. But you can still fully enjoy games as an adult without feeling the need to be all BING BING WAHOO because it's just going to make you depressed.

Try fallout 4 on survival ignoring the main quests, or stalker with gamma.

>>I can no longer immerse in a video game world
I'm also like this but that's mostly because there are very few game worlds I can believably entertain as realistic, so I am unable to actually invest in the story or the drama of the characters. That's kind of just a problem with the medium, if I'm honest. It's like investing in an old Canon action flick beyond the surface level. Do I really give a shit about the drama or am I just being honest about what I'm here for, which is a car chase, explosions, guns, Stallone, and a fine bitch that can't act that sucked a cock on a casting couch to be the sex object of the film?
>>
>>737208862
most worlds nowadays are very gamey

How the fuck is that supposed to help?
Retard.

The games are just objectively worse. There is no denying that.

that's what psilocybin and lsd are for

Chronic stress. What worked for me is dedicating half a day (12 hours, by the clock) to gaming with phone off and with a retro console setup. Final piece of the puzzle, invite a buddy or gf (like my case). It suddenly clicks again. Trying to have while having adult worries is a whole other experience. Bonus: stream newer games through a CRT. You'll feel like a kid again

Not him, but I'd rather not end up as a habitual user and kill myself when I run out of drugs like Reckful.

depends on what you consider immersive. if you mean getting single-mindedly focused on a game and playing because because you just want to, that's probably not gonna happen unless you get into something totally new and more importantly, unexpected. if the kind of immersion you're talking about is more about fully engaging with the games systems/narrative/setting/presentation in a way that isn't disrupted by some glaring issue that stands out, then yeah that will be possible for as long as you still enjoy good video games but by now you've experienced so many of the elements that make a great game that it's simply not as exciting when you see them recycled elsewhere. graphics and music and storylines etc can make up for a lot of the difference, but games look sound and are written like cheap shallow garbage now. literally no soul. there are exceptions, but they come few and far between the rest.
also you're probably tired and depressed and distracted with concerns related to serious life matters that you can't get away from even if you think you're not thinking about them right now.

>>737211201
Okay, but recommending that misanthropic people with fried dopamine receptors use drugs to feel anything seems like a really bad idea.

they would probably help most people here, it helps you create new thinking patterns and get back in touch with your inner self. There's a ton of science about this. except for the schizophrenics. they probably should avoid it.

You've finally woken up, you can see the poor coding, the same game you've played 100x prior but it's somehow worse every time, the same time wasting fetch quests or sequences to pad play time, the same rule of three boss fights
>>
nono, games really are just that bad now.

The games are bad. I'm immersing in Pragmata just fine.

Games might be bad. I played Secrets of Grindea when I was like 25 and treated every game like an assortment of 1s and 0s, and that game still managed to make me feel like I'm a child again going on a wondrous whimsical adventure.

Why can't you retarded zoomers treat games like games? Why do you need to be immersed?
mediocre minds try to escape from reality. Little retards should get immersed in real life

Eventually you reach a point where only the real world matters or nothing matters. Both are detrimental to you giving a fuck about paying 70 bucks to play in some fake world to take your mind off what a shit heap your life is

Pomni sexo.

It's not an age thing, I'm still capable of doing it but sometimes I can't because I've already played the game and I know what makes it tick.

The first time I played Suzerain I loved it. Really made me immersed. Nowadays it's a lot harder because I know how the game works.

Like, let me just give you an example. In the start, you can chose to have a degree of Law, History, or Economics, right? And you would assume that Economics helps you with uh...the economy, no?

WRONG. Economy gives you like one single point of economy and that's it. Meanwhile, History lets you basically close every single trade deal with other nations for the best possible terms, netting you a giant increase.

In my first run, I picked Economics because I wanted to play as a guy who just wanted to make the economy good. But now I know that Economics is literally the worst possible option for that and I need to pick History if I wanna succeed.

See? I can't immerse myself knowing this.

Boomer here. I can still get immersed and sometimes keep playing for hours as opposed to my usual gaming sessions of an hour at best. This happens when I leave the games that I'm supposed to get immersed in for when I'm really in the mood for them. A lot of people force playing games and then think its the games fault.
When I was younger I was forcing playing vidya and even dropped some great games because at the time they didnt sit with me. But then I tried them again later when my mindset was completely different and enjoyed the shit out of them.

>play RTSs
No need to be immersed
