What's happening to me, /v/?Is this a sign of becoming a boomer or unc?I'm 27. I've had the best taste in games (prob better than you). I would literally play everything: Soulslikes, 3D/2D Platformers, JRPGs, Survival Horror, Retro, obscure AA Jap-Jank, etc. But one genre I never cared for was VNs. I never took them seriously.And yet, I've changed over the past few months. The only types of video games I can bring myself to play are VNs now, especially comfy-cope stuff like ATRI, or Dating Sims/Eroge, like Doukyuusei or Aokana. I'll even read Otome ffs. The impulse is even worse now that I have a Steam Deck.I look at my backlog of games and see stuff like Lies of P/Ninja Gaiden 4 and go ehhh. I feel a stronger compulsion to continue something like Steins;Gate. Why?tl;dr VN thread. Recommend good VNs

Was Zakuro justified in freaking out and bailing on Takuji? Like all meme shit, femcel/incel shit, live happy aside? Zakuro was a way for Takuji to be saved from going too far down the deep end, and Takuji was someone who could have brought happiness to Zakuro's miserable life. The girl is used goods and is already far enough gone where normality is out of reach and yet she rejects and judged Takuji essentially cause she didn't want to settle for someone that's abnormal.I think Zakuro's biggest flaw is looking down on people. She sees herself as the burdened princess who'll be saved by a knight on a white horse but is completely unable to see how low her actual value is. Each turning point of the story is Zakuro being faced with someone she looks down on giving her a reality check. She realises that she's looksmatched with an incel boy, she pushes away pick-me Kimika, and refuses to be talked down from suicide by a girl who got her virginity taken by Bruno.

I completed the cycle I went VN -> light novel -> genuine regular novels.As you get older your standards go up and you can't tolerate lousy story anymore so you want better character development, plot and world building and eventually you'll use your eReader more than your PC and you will browse /lit/ more than /v/.What was the last proper game you loved? Probably expedition 33, but before that? Truth of the matter is the amount of quality games is down but quality novels especially in science fiction and fantasy are still routinely written.

I once tried reading a Shoujo manga out of sheer curiosity (Fruits Basket) and I can't remember if I even made it further than chapter 1 but I was immediately assailed with the feeling that there is no point to this manga if you're not attracted to men and can't get off to the fantasy of being surrounded by hot men. I know not all Shoujo is like that but Otome strikes me as being pretty much like that.
