How much have you spent in a single video game?
>>
that's just money laundering
>>
*sniff*
ya smell that?
*sniff snorf*
smells like...
money laundering
>>
>>737246793
>money laundering in a big amount at once instead of small constant ones
even I know better than that
>>
>>737246831
>>737246861
>Money laundering
Do you guys not know what that even means?
>>
>>737246960
it means im batman and he's robin and together we're gonna beat you up and send you to the mental asylum for being gender confused and a criminal

I know the peak of it was 2016 but surely there are enough accounts lying around sitting at the in-game cash max thanks to menus
>>
>>737246793
Sounds fake as fuck. At that point you could just hire people to play the game for you. You could make that gta money in a week if you have one of those event weeks where VIP work is 4x
>>
>>737246793
It was probably RoosterTeeth.
They had to buy hundreds of vehicles for the dozens of filler employees that they hired to try and keep the ship afloat at the end.
>>
>>737247548
I believe a Saudi prince would do it but also the math would only translate to 100 billion which as explained here >>737247451 people could just give themselves for free for years.
>>
>>737246960
Can those cards be traded with other players, or are they locked to the account that boughted them?
>>
>>737246793
these are the money laundering scum that resulted in digital tax being applied to everyone
>>
>>737246793
$60
I will never support "DLC" or "Expansion Packs"
I will never support Micro Transactions
I will never support Monthly Subscriptions
I will never support $70+ games
>>
>>737246960
>company (or people within said company) have large profits from illicit activities
>need to pump the money back into the company (R* in this case) so it looks 'clean'
>decide to do this via shark cards paid by spoofed users to pay the illicit funds into the company
it would be silly to launder money this way, but it is a valid way to do it (((hypothetically)))
>>
>>737246793
I have no idea how much I spent on WoW between sub fees, expansions, character transfers, etc but it's probably at least $1,000.
>>
>>737248349
You would still need to explain how you got $1 millie to dump into GTAV. Money laundering works in a retail setting because you can inflate income on paper. Instead of 30 people spending $1 you write it up as 30 people spending $10. Now you have $270 extra dollars in profit which could account for $270 earned illicitly. Nobody is going to audit those people and ask if they spent $1 or $10, so it looks legit.
>>
>>737246793
I bought a world of warcraft token with in game gold, converted it to $15 on my bnet account and bought overwatch loot boxes with it years ago. I'm still ashamed of myself

Hence >>737246861
>>
>>737249072
sounds like you're a gamer. instead of gaming for evil, you've bettered yourself and are now gaming for good
>>
It's weird how we always hear about gachafags, yet the real big spender "I'm going to bankrupt my entire family" types are always sports game fags and GTA fags.
>>
>>737246793
ayround 100 bucks on guild wars 2 over the span of 10 years. Mostly dlc but around 3 costumes too, one was a cool samurai costume 3-4 years ago which i use to this day

100€. Store run out of the regular gta4's, so i had to buy the special edition one. It was not worth it.
>>
>>737246793
Probably around $3000 on FFXIV

>>
>>737246793
I remember when I bought horse armor back when it was new. I never fell for skin bullshit after that.
>>
>>737247857
There are no actual cards, they're just arbitrary names for their respective transaction. It is a straight up purchase of X amount of real money for Y amount of game money credited to your account. Players cannot freely trade or transfer in-game money.
>>
60 bucks, naturally.

...Anon, you're not a... gachafag, right? You don't sublimate your sexual frustrations into becoming a paypig for a Japanese softcore porn company, right?
>>
>>737246793
$3500 just for the idols in ZZZ.
>>
>>737246793
maybe like $2 to buy a MGSV DLC skin. Felt like huge waste of money. I put a ton of time in GTAO and gacha and never felt compelled to waste a dollar on them
>>
>>737251409
So it isn't money laundering.
There is one example that could have been similar:
>Steal bank card
>Buy game keys before it is deactivated
>Sell game keys afterward at discount
But that doesn't work if in-game money isn't tradable.
>>
>>737247857
>Cards can be traded
No you fucking retard. There are no actual cards it's just digital GTA money directly put into your character account.
>>
>>737252482
>ask question
>get called retard
ironic
>>
>>737246793
Dear fucking lord... How does this compare to gachatrash? I don't think even the biggest whales spend a mill...
What are these cards for, anyway? GTA Online doesn't have a gacha element to it, right?
>>
it would be WoW but i sold my account for ~$600 at the end of WOTLK and recovered it a couple years later
>>
>>737252674
>Dear fucking lord... How does this compare to gachatrash? I don't think even the biggest whales spend a mill...
Not in America. OP is baby shit compared to Chinese whales

At one point, it costed $126,550,500 to own all the businesses, properties and upgrades. $1,000,000 in shark cards gets you 100 billion in game dollars. you’d only need 0.126% of that to buy everything.
>>
>>737252189
That's not what money laundering is or how it works.Other Anon(s) already posted a simple example of how it works here >>737248349 and here >>737249071
>>
>>737252189
>>Steal bank card
>>Buy game keys before it is deactivated
>>Sell game keys afterward at discount
The fuck does that have to do with money laundering?
>>
>>737252771
>3 million
>for intangible shit that will inevitably reach EOS
For fuck's sake. At least the typical lottery winner dumbass tends to spend on expensive cars, watches, bitches and booze... Not some fucking PNGs.
>>
>>737252965
You literally wash the money acquired illegally?
>>
>>737252965
People toss around the words money laundering all the time but they don’t realize that the money has to be dirty for it to be worth laundering. There is always a fee (including taxes) to money laundering. Money laundering begs the question where the rest of the money even came from in the first place. Who could these rich, millionaires be to have to use these assets. What are they doing behind the scenes that would warrant trading so much money. There has to be physical evidence, houses, businesses, PEOPLE and I’m sure the numbers don’t add up.
>>
>>737253823
oh my bad I misread "bank card" as "shark card"
>>
>>737250590
I usually spend $10 when I’m on the last part of making a legendary weapon. Almost finished with the gen 2 scepter, just have to grind out another GoB
>>
>>737246793
Like 100$ in Battleforge back in the day.
Then it died and I learned my lesson, first and last time I engaged with microtransactions.
>>
>>737246793
>refused to pay a 'ransom'
It's not a """""ransom"""", it's just a ransom.

A ransom implies that payment would return something taken and not paying would result in its destruction or simply 'never seeing it again'. This was more in-line with blackmail.
>>
>>737252965
Let me give you a real world example:
>thief obtains stolen credit card (dirty money)
>thief makes ebay listings for Keurig coffee pods, setting the price to much cheaper than retail
>buyer buys coffee pods from thief
>thief takes the buyer's shipping info from ebay and goes to the actual Keurig online store and orders the coffee pods using the stolen credit card, sending them to buyer's address
>buyer receives coffee pods
>thief recieved payment from ebay (clean money)
>>
>>737258297
That's not money laundering, that's theft and fraud.
>>
They dont know how to work the blackjack table.
>>
>>737246831
This
>>737246960
Do you? Money laundering as a service is growing up to 50% per year. Basically all rich people do it or desperately want to. We are leaving in a meme economy by design. Not a single decision maker wants actual growth and innovation like in the late 19th century. That's not controllable.
>>
>>737258650
Roulette is more consistent. Max bet a color and max bet the line between 0 and 00.
>>
>>737246793
For the most part I always waited on single player games to bundle the DLC with the game after learning my lesson with Morrowind, Oblivion and Borderlands 1. But in the case of the old CoD games, Battlefield, Halo 2/3/Reach, I had all the map packs and shit but I never bought map packs in the PS4 era, mostly because few multiplayer games were actually good. The only MMOs I ever actually paid for were Star Wars Galaxies and Runescape. But now with bonds, it doesn't really matter in the case of Runescape even with the upped prices.
>>
>>737252815
probably account boosting other players
>>
>>737246793
Ive spent about 1500$ bucks on Gmod. Buying alts to invade servers with, giving the alts to people in my group to destroy foundations of faggy servers, paying exploiters to breach databases etc
Best money ever spent as opposed to you faggots paying gay ass devs for skins

>>737246793
It was not "someone", it was the general revenue on christmas day 2020 on Xbox One, the article is based off of a wrong reddit comment that was too retarded to read the leaked files. Fucking retarded journos
>>
>>737250452
gachafags are all poor retards carried by a very few big spenders, but those spenders are not even close to million dollar spenders.
>>
>>737258437
As opposed to robbing a bank and laundering through fraudulent earnings reports?
>>
Even if it's fake we've seen the leaks showing how much they do make selling these things.

Humanity is fucking doomed.
>>
>>737246960
Tell that to the elite, thank us later.
