It's aesthetics. All the best looking armors only look good when really zoomed in to see the miniscule ornate details like on Malenia's valkyrie-like helm and Vargram helm. When looked at from standard distance when playing, they look unremarkabable ESPECIALLY when only staring at the BACK/BEHIND of your character for 99% of the time. Why does Malenia's armor look so much more beautiful in the opening cutscene than in-game???Boss armors never look a fraction as good on the player as they do on their respective boss. They're always severe downgrades visually, especially Messmer. And for whatever reason the color pallette in this game is really, really bad and makes alot of things duller than they should be.The worst thing I see is people posting mixed armor sets that only slightly match and still look like visual shit but the souls crowd seems to be so conditioned to lacklusted aesthetics that their bar for what looks good is lower than any fanbase I've seen and only a small amount actually look good, both youtube and here on 4chan over the years.Anyway, I love Melenia and Ranni and wish they were real.

The bosses are a different size and shape, so when their armor gets shrunk down to fit on the player model, it just looks like ass.As for the mismatched colors when combining armor sets... yeah this one is unforgivable, and has been the biggest complaint from the fashion-souls crowd for a long time. It sucks to find a really cool armor piece, but then when you try it on it looks 5% brighter than everything else you're wearing, ruining the stylishness.Your best bet is to just find a good looking full set, and stick with that.
