>gang moves to new camp>get involved in local conflict >pinkertons find them>gang moves to new camp>get involved in local conflict >pinkertons find them>repeat a bunch of times>bank robbery fails>get stuck on island >dutch goes crazy>return to US>gang moves to new camp>get involved in local conflict >pinkertons find them>evil guy turns out to be evil >arthur dies>forced to play as guy from the last game in 50 hour tedious and pointless epilogue, as if the main "story" wasn't torture enough This is the narrative masterpiece people rave about
>>737259251the valentine bank job netted about $10k if you got all of the safesthey should've just fucked off after that
having blackwater be the fuckup robbery in the prologue instead of some town that isn't in the game is shitty worldbuilding writing and the fact they don't mention it in the first game is also shows its a dumb retcon
>>73725940610K in 1900 money is one million today money top and van der Linde gang had over 20 memberseven if you share the wealth among core members only, it would be like 100k per person, which is nowhere near enough to be set for lifealso Dutch was already mad at that point and wouldn't let anyone leave with "their share of the money"
>>737259856Quite some time passes since then, people moved on, or I'm not really sure who you think needed to mention it. If it wasn't a "retcon", and RDR1 would have been written, would the Blackwater robber and Arthur would be mentioned? Sure. We all know it wasn't mentioned because it's a "retcon" but it isn't a huge deal in my opinion, because it's not like you couldn't come up with reasonable and plausible reasons for nobody mentioning it.
>>737260292Wasn't the point of the story that Dutch was never really not mad, he had always been a conman, and them fucking off for real was never an option?
>>737260537my take is that Dutch was always greedy and with illusion of grandeur and started going mad long before Guarma since nothing went according to his plans, but at one point he definitely saw himself sitting on a mansion balcony next to his Tahiti mango planation and worked towards it
>>737260292>>737259406Couldn't they just fuck off to the west and find a settlement for themselves and larp as lawmen?
>>737259251What the fuck were you doing where the epilogue took 50 hours? When I 100% completed it, the epilogue took me 11.>>737259856It wasn't a retcon, the blackwater massacre was mentioned several times in RDR1.
>>737260537I think it was implied that Blackwater is when Dutch had already crossed a line.
>>737260818>>737261647Maybe you're right, and it's just the series of catastrophic failures, Hosea dying finally kinda broke him completely.
>>737259251>>>>>/tv/
Still crushing on Sadie. What a bad ass.
>>737261776>nerd doesn't like a good story in his vidyaThis was a 10/10 an amazing game, and the last real Rockstar game. I have never had so much fun and emotions over playing a video game in years. And Josh homme singing the ending song w / willie nelson. God damn boh. https://youtu.be/NLGM2wKSx_s?si=D8dEfoSlGt_xidi5
Whe the crew is walking towards the plantation about to unleash hell..that was so awesome, made me think of all the westerns I watched as a kid. Just so fucking bad ass.
>>737259251This is actually the reason why I haven't replayed this game more. I like doing random life stuff like hunting, provoking gunfights and killing them in creative ways, etc. But the story is just a continuous falling action. Things keep getting worse and worse. It's important in open world games there's a clear sense of progression. That just doesn't exist in RDR2 for the most part. You get access to all the guns early, and clothes are almost all cosmetic.
>>737261864She is really hot. Still think she should have died at the end though.
>>737262712Nah, she got hers. She got to see that motherfucker hang high. Swaying from the gallows in that heat. Her vendetta was rightly deserved.
>>737259856The epilogue and rdr 1 take place like 8-9 years after the main story of 2. They wouldn't be bringing up the failed blackwater heist it would be ancient history to them
>>737262829Yeah, I've noticed that. A lot of people thar played two dont realize the first was after the events of two. That's why Dutch tosses himself off a cliff at the end. The days of the outlaw were over, and he couldnt cope, and have another of one of his bullshit "plans" that went no where pr got people hurt and killed. MANGOS AURTHOR, MANGOS, who gives a fuck about mangos dude. The life you lived, and the lawlessness came to an end at the start of the industrial revolution along with the strong arm of the law doing something about people like him thar wouldn't let it go. Which is actually a bit historically accurate.
>>737263076And people overlook, there's a lot of historical references in the game. Like the couples gone you go to and find the bodies, that was a direct reference to a serial killer family that actually existed in the outlaw wild west.
>>737262698There's also a real dissonance between gameplay and story.>WE NEED MUHKNEE ARTHUR>can make thousands upon thousands during chapter 2 just by hunting and looting
>>737262698>I like doing random life stuff like hunting, provoking gunfights and killing them in creative ways, etcI literally just don't progress the story once you get to the first proper camp.I then did all the treasure hunts and side questing, upgraded everything you can before the next bit, and had Arthur carrying around the equivalent of a millionaire's fortune while Dutch banged on about needing money.
>>737262813fanfiction character she should've died
>oh, arthoorre, im an illiterate prostitute that's been handed around the camp to have better morale>But OHH ARRETHOR>we all had her but he married herWell as hot as she is, you can't turn a whore into a house wife. But John managed to, and she loved him to death.
>>737263590But she didn't, did her personality intimidate you? I thought it was hot, and respectable. I like a woman with thick skin, a spine, and can hold her own.
>>737260959the whole point is that the wild west has mostly died off and civilization has caught up. they can't remain anonymous in any of these towns anymore and big heists are drying up quick. they move east towards even more civilization to "let the heat cool off" but you could argue it never would have as shown by rdr1
>>737263730nta but the theme of rdr1 was all loose ends being dealt with. i dont think sadie, charles, trelawny or any other new characters should have lived.
>>737263920And it actually happened, a lot of outlaws couldn't cope with their way of life being snubbed out. By society and the country moving forward, and the law coming down fucking hard on them. Dutch is the perfect example of that, and seemed like his camp kind of wanted to move on too. A lot was changing, things were becoming different. Those days were even antiquated as the industrial revolution moved in and we started to focus more on industry. Most outlaws quit, went into hiding, or started to work at cheap bars and circuses shooting bottle caps off from someone's head. Infamously, Annie Oakley.
>>737264179Arthor getting pissed at Dutch over another "plan" was so telling. He was speaking for him and everyone else that knew he was full of shit but didn't have the balls to tell his ass off.
>>737261864I thought her ass was quite nice desu
>>737264426Same.
>>737263205>>737263076It's crazy how both games are all about the death of the wild west and so much is spent showing this yet that entire notion flies over so many peoples head
>>737263641She wasn't the only whore. All of the girls were except for Grimshaw who was a former whore and Molly who is Dutch's exclusive whore. I don't know why a large portion of the fan base don't think the three other girls of Mary-Beth, Karen, and Tilly weren't whores when Grimshaw is their literal madam.
>>737264591Im a huge western history buff, ans always watched that outlaw show on history channel. They did touch a lot on how things were changing and the death of the wild west towards the end.
>>737262698>I like doing random life stuff like hunting, provoking gunfights and killing them in creative ways, etc.Can you do that in online? As in, larping as Man With No Name travelling from town to town and doing various jobs, hunting etc?
>>737259251>>arthur diesWhy'd you spoil that, i was about to play the game
>>737264709Oh yeah, definitely.
>>737259251Sorry you dont get it and was filtered.
>>737264959ur better off with tons of mods in singleplayer or the rdr version of fivem. gta online isn't great for actually roleplaying as a criminal and the same goes for red dead online. it had potential but they abandonded it before they could really make anything worthwhile. even just the bounties mod is a great addition for making single player more rp focused
I just want to die in a hail of gunfire, laying gasping feeling the hot rounds inside of me. Hearing the law men yelling, their guns locked and loaded again. Just bleeding out on the dirt in front of a saloon. My love holding me as I take my last breaths, my horse jumping and naying..people standing outside staring after all the rukus. Just falling back in her arms, one last breath..gone.
>>737263205>>737264591It's because chuds only care about muh racism and not being able to yell nigger 900 times.
>>737265625Yeah, they always bring up its not racist enough.
>>737264981He gets raped too (serious)
>>737265882Yeah, i remember that. And I laughed so hard with the incest couple. He just gives that look into the camera and it destroyed my sides.
>>737265425I never played rdr 2 online, by the time I wanted to they were already shutting it down. But i heard that and lot of people loved it, but they wanted to pour more money into gta 5 online with more stupid cars and other shit.
>>737259251It says a lot about video game storytelling that this trash, which is just a mishmash of stolen ideas from dozens of different western films, is seen as the pinnacle of the medium. Sad state of affairs.
