Both have their pro's and cons, so much that's I'd even recommend both for the full experience. The manga has really great art and paneling as though you're watching the anime. When you put all meme's aside, the manga author was a really great artist and knew how to make fighting scenes. The Anime is great for VA's(depending on your prefer language), build up, hype, and just seeing fights more animated. The real issue is once you get to Z, the anime is split into so many different versions that its crazy to get new fans into especially if you're planning on watching the english dub as there's like 20 different versions of the same show and there is a group of fans that have nostalgia for each version so whichever version you watch is going to the the version that sticks with you.There's 2 versions of DBZ the original 90's version of Z and another version called DBZ Kai. Original 90's is the one with the most different versions for the english version as it had multiple redubs, dubs by a different studios, one with different music, and one with fucked up colors. Its just a real mess for the english side. Kai was made 20 years later as a rerelease/remaster that cuts out all the padded filler and gets through the show much more quicker than original 90's Z. To Japan its nothing too new but to the west they also recasted a lot of cast so it'll probably be jarring to hear the voices being different. Don't know if they bothered to redub OG Dragon Ball, GT, and the classic movies but if not then its going to be real retarded jumping from completely different VA's.

It's weird. The only parts of DB I remotely enjoy are the stretch from Piccolo Jr. to the end of Namek. Could argue the beginning of Cyborgs, too, at least before Cell interrupts Piccolo and 17.Yet, I still want this game to be good. This isn't unique to DB either, they do this a lot with other animes where its not needed. And I prefer Kai. Yeah it took a bit to get use to some of the changes, but it was for the better. I think the only exceptions is probably shit like Guldo. But overall they got rid of many of the goofy dubbing choices that were completely unnecessary.
