>>737268456Na, just autistic
>>7372684563 is rushed even the developers can attest to that. they had to cut out so much shit due to time constraints caused by the addition of multiplayer that they didn't even bother voicing the museum.

>>737267650I like all of them(3 is probably the best)
>>737269163I had a slim so I didn't need an adapter. I would've rathered more singeplayer content. Some of the stuff looked fun.
>>7372676504? i assume you mean deadlock
>>737269808yeah I didn't like the lack of exploration and the platforming was lackluster too. the combat wasn't good enough to miss out on what made the series.
>>737269163If you want mp Ratchet and Clank you play Deadlock
>>737268218you should play it again
>>737269984I want to go back and replay a few old games when I have the time
>>737269859>the combat wasn't good enoughit was the only game with a difficulty level that isn't a complete faceroll, especially on a new game on exterminatorthat alone makes the combat memorable
I didn't have internet for my PS2 so I'd used to just load into those multiplayer maps by myself and explore around in them. It actually made me wish they did even more ranger missions in singleplayer, the Tyranoid planet only uses like half of the map and the Hoven map could have been really cool.
https://www.youtube.com/@uselesspodcastsnot enough people know that the devs made playthrough videos on the games
3 is so fucking short thoughAnd it has so little enemy varietyI like it but after replaying the trilogy it has to be the weakestAlso post your favorite OSTs
>>737270159I did the same thing wasn't there a bot system? I loved checking out all the multiplayer skins in the game

>>737270218there was no bots sadly. would've made it enjoyable. was never big on split screen though I did play some with my brother and friend.>>737270198yeah 3 was just a rushed thing. I blame the multiplayer completely for that. the main game suffered.
>>737270218There are some ranger NPCs around that basically stand guard, I think they only appear in local multiplayer. It's not really a proper bot system though all they can really do is stand guard.
>>737268456agreed on everything except swap 4 and 2, while 4 was still very fun the level design was very unmemorable due to the nature of the game
>>737270159>Didn't have internet for my PS2>Could only play locally against my neighbour>Would basically just be us killing each other for 10 minutes before we get bored>Years later actually get to try it properly with the PS3 port>It's actually fun with a decent amount of people>Now those servers are dead too
You know im surprised Sony didn't churn out a Ratchet and Clank Battle Royal since they were looking for live service games. You've got plenty of characters to make skins, plenty of weapons to fill out the loot pool with as well as gadgets to make special accessible areas and plenty of areas/biomes to fill out a map
>>737270509>he is this unaware
>>737270672Oh god I got monkey pawed, wtf is this?
>>737270672>>737270757>Look it up>It's a 6 player pvp game that's region locked AND mobile exclusive Sony are fucking retards lmao
>>737270494It's a shame they didn't have LAN support it would have been so easy to keep playing the game with LAN spoofing software. Also to be fair they kept those servers up pretty fucking long. They closed the original 3 servers to support the HD collection's version of online instead, but they kept the original Deadlocked servers up and running the entire time too.
>>737270757tl;dr ratchet arena shooter, mobile only, usual bells and whistles of DLC shitit will last for 4 months and die just like every other one of these
https://youtu.be/Ufp47-NkuJg?list=PLBE216F8E761D085C&t=88even they knew deadlocked was a floater
>>737267650I'm going to replay 2 soon (replayed 1 to death as a kid but only finished 2 once) because I finally got a PS5 and played Rift Apart and I forgot how much of a fucking pussy Ratchet became.>Introduced as a kinda cocky guy who just wants to go on adventures>W-wait no I'm too scared to go see my family what if they don't like meAlso I do not give a fucking shit about the Lombax thing at all, I'll give them A Crack In Time but the rest of the Future games were a bit lame. Also Nefarious was always my least favourite villain and I hate how they keep recycling him.
>>737271807Rift Apart was so fucking boring. I was expecting to be at least insulted by it, but it was worse than that, I was just bored
>>737272148I played it on highest difficulty first playthrough and the arena segments were challenging but unfortunately the game's main cast still sucks personality wise. I actually found Gary to be the best character.
3 > 1 > 2 > 4Going Commando has too many obnoxiously difficult parts
>>737271807That model looks like absolute fucking dog shit what the HELL did they do to his eyebrows they look literally twice as big. Some retard actually okayed this?
>>737272376The only thing that could possibly knock 2 down a point for me is how disappointing the final boss is. It's such a good game outside of that. 1 and 3 had way better boss fights. 2 had so much content if you dig.
>>737272251They were all void of any character. They acted all so stale and safe.
>>737272251Nobody is allowed to have a personality since the future series, they are all just generic pixar tier adventurersit's real bad when the fucking combat bots from deadlocked are more entertaining than anything from PS3+
>>737271807Rivet was actually a lot more likeable than I expected her to be but yeah Ratchet is awful in Rift Apart. Whoever decided his new defining character trait should be insecurity is an idiot, that's the last personality trait he should have.
>>737272376>too many obnoxiously difficult partshow?1 is harder than 2 by a mile
>>737272597>>737272710It's so bad that I basically just play through 1-4 and consider the series 'done'. I recently picked up Rift Apart on a sale and played through it. I've only played Tools of Destruction aside from that. The series just nose dives in personality and charm and music and game design. You actually hear these devs in the dev commentary videos linked earlier talk about these earlier titles like they're bastard children and they made so many mistakes. Like they think buying ammo was 'bad' and they'll point to things like throwing you in the deep end of a mechanic as 'bad' and it just starts to make sense how the entire series just became boring the longer it went on. Some fucking moron was filling their heads with doubt when they were literally the uncontested kings of action platforming. AND THEY LOST THAT BY DEVIATING.
>>7372727531 is mostly hard because a handful of the weapons are absolute meme tier because the developers were having their first go around and figured people would play the game a whole lot more tactically instead of just spamming the lightning gun and rockets. Also the camera and lack of strafing adds to the difficulty. It's mostly difficulty born of experimental jank rather than anything intentional. I love all the PS2 games regardless.
>>737267650>2Just be honest and say "I wish Angela was my lombax wife" Its okay, lots of people think this. The 2nd game was not that good. 3 and 1 were better.
>>7372730961 has actually challenging platforming sections like oltanis where the checkpoints are pretty spaced out and the 4 hits to death thing is pretty tough
>>7372731732 was chock full of stuff. It feels like a refined 1. 3 feels like a rushed 2. also I had a crush on sasha not angela.
2>3=4=1 but its really close
>>737268872They're all rushed, especially 2, have an original thought instead of parroting queer YouTube essayists.
>>737267650I like the first one most because it has the best exploration in the series and its platforming, by contrast I like Deadlocked second the most for its combat, enemy spawns, and vehicles. 2 and 3 are like a nice mishmash of 1 and Deadlocked. The rest of the series is a massive step down.
>>737273613I played the games back then and I replayed them all in the past year. I have never cared to watch a single fan essay on the series. I'm only taking the word of actual developers to reinforce my point. 1 was not rushed. 2 was not rushed. 3 was. 3 literally rehashes multiplayer maps with boring wave style combat to pad out the lack of content. It's a very short game all things considered and was a disappointment in retrospect.
>its rushedWhat is this brain rotted zoomer meme? The ps2 R&C games all pushed the hardware to its breaking point and had years of dev time + multiple revisions before shipping. It was a sony flagship title. They are all good and all complete packages. Just because you had no one to play with multiplayer with doesnt make it less of a feature in 3
>>737273897>2 was not rushed. There's literally a Insomniac Museum that's in the game that showcases loads of cut content for 2, they only had less than a year to develop it.
>>737269240Correct.
>>737274113and in 3?
I'm glad people are looking back at Deadlocked more fondly. Definitely think it got more of a bad rep when it came out and I get the frustrations but I think it's really good at what it aims to do and has great replay value.
>>737274030>years of dev time
>>737274113You don't understand what cut content is.
>>737274272>I'm glad people are looking back at Deadlocked more fondly. It's mostly cause the newer titles just suck that hard. Look at the Star Wars prequels after what disney did to the series. People pretend they were good movies now.
>>7372741133 was so rushed (because of multiplayer) that they didn't even bother to voice over any of the museum full of cut content. Not even your museum is finished...
>>737274272I don't get why. It was common at the time to do a trilogy then try something a bit more experimental as a fourth entry to mix things up. Naughty Dog did it too
>>7372740303 MP was literally forced by sony. Nobody wanted to make it. This is literally fact.
>>737274649Yeah I don't get the revisionism he's trying to pull. If they'd been given more time to develop we could've had multiplayer without compromise but honestly given the choice I would've rathered a more fleshed out singleplayer.>>737274623Jak 4 sucked too. This might sound ungrateful or whatever but I'd rather a series wrap up instead of them forcing things with the same IP even though they're bored of making it. A lot of OG devs quit after the PS2 titles. Maybe they wouldn't have if they'd been given a break instead of grinding for years.
-Nu-Ratchet is sappy millenial therapy shit.-OG-Ratchet is smarmy gen-x satirical shit.-Ratchet 1 sits comfortably in the middle and is pure soul.
>>737274859Jak X combat racing was the random experimental game and was fun as shit. Not that frontier slop by the jew
Ratchet's gunplay has aged poorly whereas Sly and Jak's platforming hold up great.>>737275112>Not that frontier slop by the jewWhat are you talking about what do jews have to do with anything
>>737275232He's talking about Neil Druckman, whi worked on TLF
>>737275232I've played through all of ps2 ratchet but I've only ever played jak 1 and sly 1. jak 1 was a peak game. sly 1 racing segments were pretty bad and idk why they bothered. solid game otherwise.
>>737275232>gunplay has aged poorly>strafing in GC, UYA, & Deadlocked is one of the best gameplay mechanics ever inventedIt's perfect for the series & does what so many other games fumble with. You can quickly lock on to different enemies & change weapons in seconds with ease. It's one of the best setups, I don't know how it could be much better. The double tapping to switch between weapons is another simple yet huge feature.>>737274623Because they most likely knew they still had juice to crank out one more pretty good game before everything changed with the PS3, like they expected probably. Deadlocked can be considered the best or top 2 R&C games often so it worked out pretty well for them on a huge gamble. Deadlocked even had a shit ton of cut content and still gets praise. Insomniac had the secret formula for awhile for sure.
>>737275232Cuckman made Frontier, insecure golem
>>737275574The fourth, experiment games tend to be somthing they cloud flick out quickly before the end of the generation. They don't tend to have enough time for one more big one by then cause they're putting a lot of their top staff on next gen projects
>>737275829I know, which makes it funny more people seem to like Deadlocked over Tools of Destruction, the first next-gen game for the series. More people might like Crack in Time than Deadlocked, but CiT was the culmination of a lot stuff for the series so that make sense. It's just funny the game they cranked out quickly with less resources is still considered one of the best.
>>737268456Lol. Fucking faggot. 4 Is overrated as fuck and isn't even a good game1 > 3 > 2 >>>>>>> 4
>>737276236Because Resistance was the big game by Insomniac for next gen. ToD was a lower team too
>>737273248>sasha not angelaBased, Sasha doesn't get much love and that saddens me.
>>737273613>>737274113They were already working on 2 when 1 released, 1 having benefited from all the pre-alpha time from moving from ps1 to ps2 before they got locked into an annual release cycle. Only 3 was actually crammed into one year of development time and only 3 had the developers afraid as the deadline approached that they were going to put out Insomniac's first bad game. You clueless faggot.
>>737275341>>737275739wikipedia says he was one of three writers and the game wasn't even developed by naughty dog. are you guys being schizos again or..? the story was the least of TLF's problems
>>7372786793 also suffered from Resistance being in development at the same time leaving a limited development team.

>>737270218>wasn't there a bot systemEnemies didn't even have pathfinding in that era. Melee attackers just ran in a straight line at the player sliding against any walls or whatever in their path. Ranged attackers ran in a straight line from their spawn point to their fighting position and started shooting.
I happen to only have played 2-4Well thats not true, I years later tried to pick up 1 but dropped it a few planets in. Either I was older and I couldn't enjoy it or 2-4 spoiled me in some way and 1 just felt off. I don't remember.I'm sure I would have loved it if I played it first or immediately after 3.The way it went is I played 2 when 3 was already out (got it as a hand me down from an uncle), loved it so I begged dad to get me 3. Loved it too. Notice when 4 came out so I got it a week after, loved it too.8 whole years later I tried 1 and dropped it. Pity.

>>737273096>figured people would play the game a whole lot more tactically instead of just spamming the lightning gun and rocketsThe mine glove is kinda weird to use and the taunter solves a problem that isn't really a problem. But really the walloper and the morph-o-ray are the only meme weapons. The first game is designed to be played tactically. Just spamming best weapon doesn't work. You are taught this as early as Rilgar with tons of mixed enemies being thrown at you at once, a problem solved tactically by deploying agents of doom (or the mine glove) before hitting the "uncage the enemies" button and using two other weapons based on how the enemies come at you.
>>737279734I asked her on a date but she said she was busy washing her hair that night.
Spyro: 1>2>3Ratchet: 1>2>3Insomniac really had a trend of making something special and following it up by both doing some smart refining and working against what made the original so good because they just wanted to do ***more***. Plebes don't understand the simple excellence and think there is no downside. For specific examples, strafing was good. Weapon design that encourages spam over tactics was bad, even moreso together with strafing. The scaling systems were awful - forcibly obsoleting weapons because they didn't have good enough niches to all be used with a flat enemy health progression, experience-based health upgrades and buying armor to offset increased enemy damage, etc.

4 > 2 > 3 > 1 and it's not up for debate
Something about how Rivet looks in engine is particularly appealing and almost none of the porn, 3d render or drawn, captures it.
>>737267650man this game was a big part of my childhood, good times
I find it funny that the best R&C gameplay is the reboot movie game. The way enemies on hard actually shoot shots ahead so holding right won't let you dodge everything, and they didn't need to add the lame dodge mechanic like RA had. Plus the way the enemies comment on the guns you use making it feel like gadgetron is apart of the world. To bad that literally everything else in that tiny ass game sucks balls.
>>7372676502 always felt wrong to me. I didn't like the muppets, I didn't like Quark pretending to be the old guy, the initial fakeout antagonist being a female Ratchet was dumb, the only memorable villain in it was the Thugs 4 Less dude. 1 and 3 had a much better setting/characters. 4 was alright but I could never get over the transition from platforming.
These constant adspam threads are so weird>bro it's just an autistic furrythose people get banned to trash. what compels the tencent-snoy marketing division to keep spamming /v/ with ratchet? the next game isn't due out until 2029, will cost at LEAST $100M, and long after they killed the franchise with Deadlocked.
>>737286801Sooo you gonna buy something?
>>737286801you cant buy the classic games
>>737272376Also just something about most environments feeling overly cold or metropolitan. I feel like 2 has some of the worst maps. 3 lacks enemy variety but it has a nice balance of level ideas.
>>737272710IIRC they run some focus testing programme for kids these days to ensure that the games are well received by 7 year olds and remove any content that made the 7 year olds disapprove.Enjoy your literal toddler game, unc.
>>7372676503 = 1 > 2 > 4The gameplay of 3 is the best and tightest, the story is the 2nd best (1 is the best) and I enjoyed the multiplayer. 1 has the best story, ratchet is was at his least "sanitized for pg audiences" and was just very fun and memorable which is why i fell in love with the series and bought like 6 or 7 more games in my life, these and also TOD, Crack in time, All4One, Rift Apart. 2 is really good, but 3 and 1 are just a smidge better. 4 is easily the weakest of the first 4 games in the series. TOD was okay but forgettable. Crack in time was pretty good. All4One was decently entertaining to play coop for a few days but not amazing. Rift Apart was good, but I feel like Insomniac needed to more to spice up the gameplay and add more unique weapons and do more with the rifts.3 = 1 > 2 > Crack in time > Rift Apart > Deadlocked > All4One > TOD
>>737281397When will this "Ratchet 1 had strategic combat meme" end? You can literally ignore over half the arsenal in the game and still get by comfortably.
>>737290819Multiple weapons being able to fill the same tactical function if you force them to does not refute that argument. Nor does brute forcing and just eating hits to get through the game. You also seem to have quoted the wrong post. The one that you probably meant to is right above that one and already has an example of where tactics are needed. You fuckin retard.
>>737291015The tactical aspect of a game's combat is hindered when the player doesn't have to actually think tactically to get by. The Rilgar example is awful, you know why? Because I can breeze through it with just the Blaster + the Pyrocitor when I run out of ammo for the former without dying once, and I'm not even some R&C master. Tactics absolutely are not "needed", you people only claim that to make the first game seem better than it actually is. That or you were genuinely awful at the game.
