>>737290125I'd recommend the PS2 version. 3DS isn't really substantially changed in any way to matter, and I'd argue it's downgraded between the shit small text for the resolution and the compression necessary for the cart. An early mental voice the protag hears has absolutely zero filter on the 3DS version for example. If you have an option between the two for emulation's sake, you're probably not really gonna be able to take advantage of the minor quick menuing/shortcuts on the 3DS touch screen stuff anyway unless you were doing it on a handheld device or a phone with a supporting touchscreen on Azahar, anyway. I'd even argue it's probably harder to emulate 3DS than PS2.

They talk and act accordingly throughout the first Act like deciding to protect Ion and Luke because they're civvies, while still having plenty of skits to show friendly banter and joking around.

The cool element of Akzeriuth is that Luke is very much at fault, and the party is disgusted not so much at the act but more at the fact the very first thing he thinks about is trying to cover his own butt instead of "oh shit we just saw 10k drown in poison mud including a little kid crying for his mother while trapped under his father's lifeless body"...

If you don't go to the port before entering the abandoned factory (the very next thing you're supposed to do) to see the scene there, you've locked yourself out of doing the side quest. The game introduces them effectively right at the start of the journey and the importance of them amounts to "it would be good to learn from the past." Then you reach the point right before endgame after exploring the whole world and Mayvin says he won't help out until you get all of them. There are a few that are only available after reaching Lohgrin, but playing through the game the first time you'd probably think they're side quests since most of the things you do to get them are side quests. I think either making it clear at the beginning that you should be picking them up as you go, or even integrating a couple of them into the main story would have helped.
