I can only guess that it has to do with "visual management", something that makes sense in a workplace where the average retard needs to be able to follow basic processes. This concept has now bled into every other medium which is why we have the 'yellow paint' problem and nintendo using boring white text in every game.

Rainmeter would still be in active use by people if it didn't take huge chunks of CPU usage per widget.
I think ring0 access for software is also revoked on 10+ nowadays so it probably wouldn't be a useful stat tracker now, either.
>>
>>737314996
I imagine if you set up some kind of server, you could. You just need a game key, which are still redeemable.

I just really miss the Windows 7 aesthetic, there's that one Win 10 LTSC mod that makes it look like 7 (classic7) but it's fucked because it can't use antivirus. We finally have PCs that can run the UI effortlessly but now instead we get this minimalistic bullshit.

Playing whatever the fuck would run on my Acer laptop that was very much not meant for playing high end games of the time.
I got by on TF2 and Oblivion on lowish settings. Fallout 3 worked too. Dawn of War worked as well, but DoW2 not so well.
I remember trying to run Unreal Tournament 3 and it just would not fucking work outside lowest settings, smallest resolution so you couldn't see shit anyway.
Had shit like Sins of a Solar Empire working too so that was cool.

One of the weirdest mindfuck launches was GFWL. They had a "launch date" and it was all in the news cycle. Then I waited for a client to download or something and.... nothing.
I went around sites trying to figure out what the fuck was happening and it was literally nothing. I think they just made the service connectable by the public instead of whatever test environment they had.

Vista's problem wasn't the OS per se, but the fact that the specs for the effects were overkill for most PCs at the time. You could run Vista well on a decent rig a couple years after the fact but Windows 7 came out and that ran great for most PCs out of the box, so it became kinda redundant.

Modern Windows is just a dumpsterfire and has been ever since some retard at Microsoft thought they should unify the UI for mobile phones with PCs. It was a portent to all the senseless nonsense Microsoft has been pulling at an exponential rate ever since then.
>>
Vista makes sense for home PCs but not so much for work. If someone's miserable in an office he'll want a grey and depressing computer screen to match his mood.

The only thing that bothers me about the whole concept of Frutiger Aero is that it has people thinking that was the only look the 2000s had going for it, when it was only one of the many things you would see.
It almost feels like a theme park rendition of an era that you lived in.
>>
>>737335954

>>
>>737336047
Frutiger Aero got completely derailed into this green and blue sustainable future bullshit rather than just the cool glossy aesthetic they were going for during the mid 2000s, it's just cringey to look at what that "community" is doing these days, completely misinterpreting what the older aesthetics were about.
