>everyone dogpiling IGN for their Mouse P.I. reviewYou love to see it.
Crimson shills, your game flopped
where do these legacy videogame review companies even get revenue or funding to still be operating? Im super nostalgic to the old days of videogame review magazines or websites from the 90s and 2000s but in addition to them being outdated forms of getting news, we all ignore them now because they have been giving super biased bullshit reviews for over a decade now. literally how the fuck do they still exist? do they just get free money from some other company?
>>737321035everyone talking about the review and not the game tells you everything you need to know about it
>>737321035Reviews mean squat. What matters is sales. How is this game selling? If it sells badly then game over. And how successful can a game that's reliant on Mickey Mouse imagery going to be? This isn't even Mickey's most recognized design which is flesh face color Mickey.
>>737321035it’s a really midgame 6/10 is very fair
People still go on IGN? Why?
>objectively correct in every way>gaymers still throw a hissy fit
I just made a return; I don't see the justification for paying €30 for it.

>>737322147A review that said>everything is reference jokes about cheese, other media, or it being a video game and that gets really old>it doesn't really take any advantage of the noir detective or 1930s theming>the gameplay is good, but the weapons can feel off because of bad audio design and normal difficulty is way too easyand>the game tries to make you care about the story while not handling storytelling well at all
this game is like the definition of a meme gamethe artstyle markets itself, doesn't matter if the game is mediocre which by literally all accounts I've heard it is
>>737321035Consensus is it's an 8/10 game, nothing ground breaking but fun for what it is. Reddit trannys are upset about it for some reason.
I'm guessing this dogpiling has less to do with the game itself and more with the incompetence of the reviewer?

>>737321035Aside from the visual style, what does it do to deserve more than a 6? Does it have fantastic level design? Is the gunplay exceptionally good? Is the musical score a masterpiece? Does it have a memorable story? Does it have the replayability to keep you coming back for weeks? Or maybe it really is just an okay shooter that happens to have a unique visual style and nothing more?
>>737324235it looks like they fed doom to a cuphead ai generator so it deserves a 11
>>737321035Pretending to be angry over the opinions of individual critics is the major reason that video games will never be seen as art.
>>737324235while relatively simple and straightforward, it is well put together and fun. it isnt bogged down with overly complex nonsense in a vain attempt at "spicing things up". it does what it does well, and without real problems. the voice acting is actually great. the script with its thematic puns and such is endearing. the level design is engaging. i dont know about "fantastic" or what would qualify as such, but it isnt dull. personally, i dont find noir stories to be particularly memorable or special, but this story seems to be pretty standard to me. i find it to be a great package full of well meshed contrast. i give it an 8 personally, but even on a cynical day i wouldnt go below 7. a 6 is absurd, and doubly so for the retarded reasons ign gave.
>>737321035Mauser C96 didn't have detachable mags like that.
>>737321035The review itself was just another example that critics (and the gaming audience in general) don't actually give a shit about gameplay, they only care about strory and characters. At the end of the day they really just want to watch movies.

>>737324235The problem with the review isn't with the score they gave it, it's with the reasons they gave for the score.

>from the developers that played Cuphead
>>737322147Completely different reasons>Cuphead was seen as "too hard" by a guy that couldn't get past the damn tutorial>Mouse PI was given a score of 6/10, but the reviewer cited reasons such as "too much cheese" and not being a true film noir when it was always advertised as a shooterStill, it's funny that these two games are ones causing journalists to rage

The game gets a million times better after you get the tommy gun.

>>737321035>>737322147>>737328359>>737331525The game is not even good. Name 1 interesting mechanic it has. Yeah, exactly. It's a boomer shooter with zero fun and zero difficulty. The cartoon shit artstyle clashes because the backgrounds are generic 3D models just made monochrome while objects like barrels and guns are toony. And the toony characters don't mix with the 3D backgrounds. They were too lazy to animate like Cuphead, where the backgrounds AND characters are cartoony style.
>>737321035If I were the devs, I would have forced the whole environment into cel-shading, and drew as many hand-drawn cells for each and every character at each and every angle, instead of facing the camera the entire time. But of course, they only made this game because Cuphead exists and wanted to do an FPS.
>>737321035best advertising the game could get, and it seemed like it was already doing well to begin with
>>737322147They only played the first level of the game, before aliens and demons enter the picture, making it extra obvious the entire Noir scaffolding isn't to be taken seriously (before that's, it's 'just' VERY VERY obvious, not ABSURDLY obvious). Then they made an article with criticism for the the first mission/level of the game, and said it's sad the first mission was not Noir enough. And the game was a bad Noir. Absolutely dismissing the very in your nose caricature of the Noir trope in the game, that tells you, in your face, you're not supposed to take it seriously (aliens and demons). But no, that subtext was *too* subtle for IGN. Also no words on the second mission or the rest of the game. So they literally just played the first mission, said "it isn't the Noir I like" and just posted an article. Also, by the first mission alone: you have only two guns out of twenty, no upgrades for your guns, so basically they just completed the prologue, sharted an article, and were really proud of what they wrote. Typical IGN incompetence.
I saw a review on YouTube today, and the guy says the gameplay is decent but the story which ruins the experience is pure Reddit.

>>737345929In my opinion the main mission in Mouse sometimes having a marker isn't that big of a deal. It's a mostly linear game. Though it does have non linear moments (where there's no quest markers) like choosing how to break into the cop station, there are multiple ways to get in without the game holding your hand. You can be a giga retard that go through the front door guns blazing or have enough patience to look around the place and find another way.

Any game under a 5 is bad, but even being above a 5 isn't automatically amazing. A 6 game would be just passable, but probably not something you'd actively recommend to someone. This scale works a lot like pic related. This is the same misunderstanding when ranking women's looks on the 1-10 scale: 5 is absolutely neutral, and that is not the same as average.

>>737324235Nothing.Pretty shallow as far as shooters go. Level design, weapons or enemies never get intense or creative enough to make it stand out.
>be video game journalist>review cartoony shooter about a cartoon mouse private detective whose gun shoots acid and melts people down to their bones>"UHM, ACTUALLY A PRIVATE DETECTIVE COULDN'T GET AWAY WITH SHOOTING ALL THESE COPS, THIS IS NOT REALISTIC"...
>>737350461This game feels like a potential bad outcome of Cuphead getting its Microsoft funding. The vision seems to have changed dramatically once the devs signed up with a publisher.
I asked for a refund because the game didn't feel good. The 2d characters don't blend well with the 3d world at all. It's frustrating to play.
>>737321035They rushed this game out the door with a bunch of bugs and cut content to show for it (there's weapons and areas the devs showed off in various gameplay videos that don't appear at all in the final product).
Sounds like a game that’s all style no substance?
>>737350635The fuckDo the bullets vore them or something?
>>737321035Reviewtards getting gang-banged is commonplace though
I gave it a pirate after seeing all the talk and >>737351778sums it up about perfectly.Presentation is impressive, but the gameplay is serviceable at best. The publisher is absolutely smoking crack, charging $30 for it.
I kind of agree with most of what the IGN review said.
>>737350030>Any game under a 5 is bad, but even being above a 5 isn't automatically amazing.Nobody is claiming this though. You're arguing against an imaginary person who thinks the scale is the top bar in >>737326552 except shifted down five points and with all green after.Pain is an incompatible concept because it does not mean the same thing at all, being halfway to the most agonizing pain of your life is not the neutral point.

>gets mad at IGN for giving everything an 8 or higher>gets mad at IGN when they don't give everything an 8 or higher
>>737352210Car centered housing
The game is a 6 or 7 but the reviewer had shitty reasonings and clearly didn't play more than an hour. He saw a noir theme and then tried to judge it as though it were just a serious detective movie and not a wacky shooter with a gimmick
>>737321115Holy rent free. Crimson Desert fucking owns you Discord trannies.
>>737345586They have markers to start them in the hub. Characters will be shown on the compass if they have something important to say. But in a mission, you need to figure out the quest yourself and it can be as easy as taking a 2 second detour or as easy to miss as doing a subquest within the level where there are dozens of points of no return.
>>737332269>Name 1 interesting mechanic it has.
>>737321035I don't give a shit about boomer shooters and this one looks particularly cringe but teh PC Gamer review of Cronos is astoundingly stupidhttps://www.pcgamer.com/games/horror/cronos-the-new-dawn-review/>Unfortunately, the kind of horror I was hoping for did not await me in Cronos. I often find that survival horror delivers weaker frights. Monsters just don't seem that scary when I'm piled high with guns, ammo, and every single explosive I can get my hands on. So in this respect, Cronos started on the back foot.Later in the review...>In a game that otherwise stresses the importance of restraint and holding on to your items, some of the Orphans can be a massive drain on resources.>The issues are worsened by seriously stingy resource spawns. Too often, the game doesn't give you what you needThen it takes a turn into the seriously retarded>I found Chronos' story similarly muddled, and it takes its sweet time to get going. For the first eight hours or so, all the game seems to be is yet another take on the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic. I don't know if it's because I had a rather nasty time over those few years or whether it's just that the subject has been completely overdone at this point, but I really have no patience left for tales about being placed under a restrictive lockdown, barred from social gatherings, and kept in the dark.By the way, the game is shite and i don't recommend it, but this review was so bad it convinced me to buy the game
>>737353282I wonder if journos even proofread or have an editor to give them a second opinion on their articles anymore. Probably not.
>>737353401Woah there, you can't stand in place and think about the article you just wrote. Get back to queuing up 5 more articles for next week.
Why are some of the NPC's randomly french

>>737322478>game wants to be boom shoot>has noir detective sections>both playstyles are at odds with each other >the heavy focus in those story sections must pay off, but the story is beyond mid >Boomshoots are loved for their no nonsense gameplay focus with little story, but this game has entire sections with no combat>99% of the humor is reference humor aka: I also know that thing lmaoReview is legit. Gamers like it because reviewers dislike it, like the fucking infants they are. Slop but not from the big western AAA? Oh we fucking adore that shit here.Games are shit because gamers slurp shit up and one could argue that online personalities have been worse for gamers then "real" reviewers. They dont know how to critique outside 'I had fun'. Something thats fun can still be shit.In the right mind set a stick is fun
>>737321035_ ____ __ ____ ____ ___.
The game is amazing. Truly GOTY.
>>737321035Most accurate review they've ever made, gender confused mystery queers who like indie slop seething
>>737321609It's called 'Israel'
>>737321035Is this the most soulless website design ever? It looks the way old websites do when someone has gone and bought the domain
>>737332269>And the toony characters don't mix with the 3D backgrounds. They were too lazy to animate like Cuphead, where the backgrounds AND characters are cartoony style. This is the reason I haven't bought it. I watched some gameplay (not the IGN review) and I can see the artsy animations getting old fast when the rest of the game looks like tf2. Picrel looks like its from some ue5 indie friendslop
>>737321035The IGN review is 100% retarded, but so is the game. It truly deserves a 6 from what I've played, but not for the reasons game journalists have outlined. Mouse P.I for Hire just sucks as a shooter
>>737356484Ooof. That looks like shit.

>>737321035It reads like a damn parody of journos>>737321115Wrong thread, retard. Marathon lost and got raped.
my problem is that i watched one gameplay video of it and it couldve literally just been a Doom 2 mod? As a standalone game it looks boring as hell with shit AI that got overshilled.
The game doesn't seem to be particularly good, but IGN is complete dogshit and I don't know why anyone takes anything they say seriously.
>>737321035IGN shitting on dalits like op and their shitty game. I am knowing now why you cumskins bastard sons of onlyfan whore are avoiding certain games. It because we make them.
Writing that doesn't take itself too seriously requires a certain talent. If it's done by people who don't understand the art, what ends up happening is that the story and characters become unlikable. The ideal process for the player should unfold as follows:>he clearly realizes that the game isn’t taking itself seriously>but little by little, he begins to see the internal logic within that universe>after a while, he’s fully engaged and taking seriously characters and a setting that at first seemed like nothing more than a big jokeIt's this process of discovering that there is substance to something that previously seemed like nothing more than a joke that gives this type of writing its charm.
>>737321035It deserved a lower score
Ign giving slop high scores was to avoid this, I think the pokemon review was 100% correct and only copers bitched about the "too much water" meme.Yeah, their literally is too much water in honen lol, random encounters every tile on a route, and half of the dex being water fucking sucks ass
>>737332935I didn't play it so I can't judge, assuming that's 7/10 for pure gameplay
