My guess is that it was made to appeal to indians, but wouldn't know, I personally never liked anything related to apu, every time he had a dedicated episode it was quite worse than regular episodes, although the one I hate the most of the old era was the one with the homer antagonist at the plant, zero laughs had in that episode none of the times I watched it.

Reading the backstory on how this game was made makes it even more impressive. The devs were given like 16 months to develop the game, and had to deal with constant meddling from the Fox executives and their publisher. Hell, the GameCube version of the game was ported over largely by one guy in just a few weeks
