Who put SPM there? Bro thinks he's on the team

I hesitate to lump Super Paper Mario in with the first two because it had basically nothing to do with anything Mario

SPM is in essence closer to real Paper Mario than actual dogshit like >>737328608

Brotherhood was really good even if moving Luigi's controls off of B button exclusively was weird after an entire franchise of muscle-memory
>>
>>737328785
never played it.
>>
>>737328843
I get that Luigi being le punching bag humor got old by BIS, but Brothership just tried to suck off Luigi a bit too much.
Dream Team handled it better. Felt like Luigi was more respectably treated there.
>>
>>737328940
Dream Team was a really good side-story about Luigi coming into his own, so much so I remember it being a really big criticism of Paper Jam that it instantly forgot about that and went back to "Green 'Stache" while Brotherhood doesn't
>>
>>737328608

game is overhated

As far as I remember Bowser does keep showing some respect for Luigi in PJ and calling him by name when things get serious, but it was the Peaches who relentlessly shat on him. I get that Paper Luigi is useless 90% of them but damn, harsh on M&L Peach's side coming right after Dream Team.

Was just about to link this, lobotomizing Sticker Star into a full blooded Paper Mario game is an amazing feat
>>
>>737329509
There also exists a SPM mod that turns it into an RPG with turn-based combat.
>>
>>737328531
I liked paper mario more than thousand year door, but it's still good

>>737328531
if you played these games when they came out you would know that super paper mario was where the franchise died

Replaying the whole series, just finished PiT. DS BiS has such weird timing for the action commands that it's messing with my brain, especially after coming off of PiT.
I tried to replay the remake and it fixes the action command timing, but it's dogshit in everything else.
>>
>SPMtards unironically think they're part of the good games
LMAO
>>
>>737329906
Same. TTYD has some of the laziest excuse for level design I've ever seen and the Gamecube version had pacing so bad in its side content due to the one active sidequest limit + half-assed fast travel I've always found it frustrating how everyone pretends it's a perfect game. PM64 has way better balance.

Then again, I also feel like BIS is extremely overrated but I fall into the camp who thinks SSS is the best M&L which is pretty common.
>>
>>737330072
Dream Team is the best in the series, completely flawless.
>>
>>737329797
I feel like turning SPM into a turn based game would just exacerbate how bloated it is, you'd have to redo the level design as well to make it not horrible to play through and at that point you're making an entirely new game with the same story
>>
>>737330383
People dog on it for how many tutorials there are but it's not actually any worse about tutorials than any other game in the series, there's just way more of DT since it's a forty hour game instead of 15-20
>>
>>737330498
It could've stood to make them optional like later games. Brothership is even longer but 99% of its tutorials are opt-in or straight-up only in the in-game guide.
>>
>>737330498
I'm glad someone gets it, I feel this is a case exception for the overly long tutorials because DT is like you said a much longer game by comparison to BiS.
>>
>>737330571
But I do agree previous games should not get a pass for the same issue. BIS in particular is just as heavy on unskippable tutorials. This includes stuff like Bowser's spike ball move you get in the final dungeon.
>>
>>737328531
It did but it was a south park game for some reason
>>
>>737328531
You mean 3?
Honestly, what Nintendo keeps doing wrong is they are taking the concept for the game and changing it drastically and changing the graphics and making everything with a modern twist.

What they should actually try doing is design their office to look like a 90s office, and force all the devs to play Paper Mario 64 and study the code, then force the wage-slaves to make a brand new game in the old style with the old mentality with tons of new content, all they need to do to be successful is to copy themselves from 30 years ago, lol.

Stop reminding me that I'm old anon.
Where did all the years go, and suddenly I'm a decaying boomer and everybody online was born in 2008. Pretty soon we are going to see fully grown adults who were born the year after FNAF 1 released. Lol.

Sorry to make you feel old, i'm an '06 zoomie but at least I got to experience the last good generation of games, things are looking shit for gen alpha though.
>>
>>737330852
I don't mind the graphics. Color Splash and The Origami King looked great. Actually Origami King in general is a very good game that only needed regular RPG character progression and more NPC variety to be the best it could. Things like the level design far outshine the first two games.

>>
Still funny to me that they remade BIS, a game nobody asked for to be remade, instead of PiT
>>
>>737333889
PiT needed a remake more. The bosses were damage sponges in the English release for no good reason.
>>
>>737328531
Maybe on day OP. We got the TTYD remaster which I think was pretty good, but had some flaws. And although the newest M&L was kinda mid, its still alive. So we just gatta believe hard enough and maybe, just MAYBE, we'll get it

You did not play it if you can't understand why people despise it.
>Kersti is an annoying nag the entire game.
>If you go into a boss fight and refuse to use a Thing sticker that one-shots bosses Kersti insults you for actually wanting to fight the boss.
>The game mandates you use Thing stickers on certain bosses to even damage them so I hope you brought duplicates.
>The game pretends like Kersti sacrificing herself is a sad moment instead of the most cathartic moment of the game.
>There is absolutely zero reason to battle any enemy on the overworld whatsoever as you will never get back more stickers than what you had to expend to beat them, and all you get rewarded with is like 15-20 coins and one or two garbage stickers that might not even be attacking ones.
>Coins only exist to avoid having to backtrack for Thing stickers but cost so much that it means you had to do like seven to ten fights to be able to buy even one of them so it's never worth the hassle compared to just backtracking and getting other Thing stickers in the process.
>Once you reach world 4 all the stickers you get from the overworld and random encounters suddenly upgrade to holographic-tier and are the strongest ones in the game, but then going to world 5 and endgame like 70% of the stickers you find are back to the garbage you were finding in world 1.
>100%ing the game means hours and hours and hours of farming random encounters to max out your coin count to get the one single flag that mandates that to rise, otherwise everything else is super easy to get.

64 also has the better OST and art direction. Bowser's Castle had a consistent theme while Shadow Palace or whatever it's called was a clusterfuck of designs.

this is the worst part. the primary action of the game being a timewaste half the time.

The same ones that came out around 10 years ago and still at the same price as when they came out.
